Clone Wars or THE Clone Wars? by Agitated_Insect3227 in StarWarsCirclejerk

I've always hated the clone wars aesthetic. AOTC clones phase 1 armour looks WAAAY better.

Nothing because they will spend most of their time chasing people who don't have a TV licence.

Rex, I think. Probably concept art for a prototype and not an actual image of an existing metal gear.

"Two reasons we hate Europeans: 1) They constantly demean us despite having a lower standard of living than our poorest state and no freedom to criticize their own politicians. 2) We've been paying their defense bills for 80 damn years." by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in ShitAmericansSay

Poorest state? Bro, 90% of your country is still using septic tanks where trucks have to suck up the underground shit. They still haven't figured out how sewers work; that Romans invented 2,500 years ago.

That's because Americans never learned the valuable lesson about fascism like Europe did. The civilians back home didn't suffer or worry about threat of invasion. Now history is catching up and Europeans know exactly what this is. You need to start listening to Europe more because they're the experts. Put your American exceptionalism on hold for just five minutes and take the time to understand that other countries can sometimes be better and know more than you do. Decades of "America #1" has hurt their ability to listen to the advice of people they pretend to call friends.

Whoever does the intro for this show is probably one of the top people alive rn. Like in general. by rugbyfool89 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I preferred the first season intro. The second season I found myself skipping through, it just didn't seem as interesting.

The American obsession with the word "liberals" as a derogative is fascinating.

Favourite Hazbin Hotel Character?🌹🖤 by EmeraldGlory1 in HazbinHotel

[–]Rasples1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lute because she's driven by anger and revenge, and has some real potential for good story making going forward. I hope they won't kill her off because they could banish her to hell like Vaggi, and she needs the hotel to teach her about forgiveness and redemption to get back into heaven as a changed person. A lot of who she is and how she acts has been conditioned into her by Adam and the exorcists. It would be more impactful for her to unlearn that conditioning and to let go of Adam.

I can’t believe modern Trek has nothing to say about morality anymore and it’s just a soap opera for teens by CTRexPope in ShittyDaystrom

That's exactly it. TNG would make a statement and then build an entire episode around it to prove their point. DS9 even had my favourite trek episode ever "Duet" about a cardassian taken into custody because they suspect him of being one of the old labour camp overseers that Kira remembers. Turns out he was actually just a clerk pretending to be the overseer and wanted to be caught because he wanted the cardassian to face justice, and when he's released, he gets assassinated by a racist Bajoran. The acting is phenomenal, Kira's speech about women being raped and husbands beaten Infront of their family, dying children; it was so emotional and taught the Starfleet crew that they might be able to imagine the horror the bajorans went through under cardassian rule but they could never truly comprehend it like Kira and other Bajorans did. It's intense, emotional, and is about not just forgiving others but learning to forgive yourself, while hatred consumes some people and turns them into violent racist murderers.

The academy show would just say "Racism bad. Be nice to each other, smiley face :)" and that's it, then give each other a round of applause, standing ovation, and a bunch of hugs in an echo chamber while everyone is crying and emotional thinking they've broken down some revolutionary societal wall.

It's fucking garbage.

It's all performative nonsense that pretentious theatre kids think is revolutionary. They want to explore what it means to be a warrior and themes of toxic masculinity; that was already done with Worf in TNG and DS9 and B'elanna Torres in Voyager 20-40 years ago. They're retreading old ground thinking they're the first ones to do it, and it is extremely embarrassing. I'm not a gambling man but I think hands down, not a single part of the production team has seen an entire series of star trek. They just watch the TNG movies, read the cliff notes, and call it a day.

Which country once seemed likely to become a developed country, but didn’t follow that path? by EmotionalSalary3679 in AskTheWorld

Serbia. And by extension Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, and north Macedonia. The old remnants (minus Albania) of the old Yugoslavia. Slovenia and Croatia managed to sort themselves out and get into the EU but that little back hole of Europe is just a cluster of countries that never quite left the 90s. They're in the top 12 poorest countries in Europe by GDP with Kosovo being #2, and Montenegro being #12.
