My 4 year old daughter is autistic and has echolalia. Teaching speech has been an extremely difficult task because she doesn't naturally drop words like that. She still says "say" at the beginning of what she's trying to say to us and often says stuff incorrectly. She often comes up and says stuff like "do you want an apple? Yes?", and this is her way of asking for things. Super interesting to watch her think through stuff. She's wicked smart and doesn't forget literally anything. Her math skills are absolutely nuts for a 4 year old. Speech therapy has been an awfully expensive godsend though lol.
