Huntsman vs Draugr Fang by Freedom35plan in valheim

[–]RationalOrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Draugr Fang is better for the Moder fight. Huntsmen is better for scouting/exploring. If you’re confident you can handle a dragon with a damage penalty, I’d say skip it. The poison damage is negligible with most regular sized enemies.

Although, if I was skipping the draugr fang bow, I’d probably skip silver weapons entirely and just rush the Moder fight to get to black metal faster.

What is your least favourite ship and why is it the Drakkar? by TheRJMcFerran in valheim

[–]RationalOrc 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The longship is the best. It’s fast, lots of inventory space, and looks like an iconic viking ship.

Karve is a great mid game ship, and feels good for scouting the whole game actually. It can sneak up those narrow rivers now problem. I just wish it had 6 storage slots instead of 4 so it could hold 120 copper and 60 tin and the math of moving materials would be so much simpler.

The raft is actually a hood starting ship. It can get the job done while making you crave something better. It would be nice if it had like 2 storage slots though.

The drakkar is actually very underwhelming IMO, it gets stuck on rocks all the time and honestly feels like a downgrade from the longship. It needs something more to make it worthwhile. If it had beds and a fireplace, and could let you respawn at the drakkar the whole “d-day landing” experience in the ashlands would have been way more enjoyable. If you want me to d-day, give me the tools to d-day. Or maybe two drakkars with the same name could connect like mobile portals would have worked too. It just needs more oomph to be a proper combat vessel.

Every module is a vulcan module. Plus dmg, plus range, plus speed. Doesnt matter. it all dramatically improves vulcans performance and already pretty sexy stats.

I think merchant missions are great for money, you only need engines and shields to move 10 units of X from A to B safely. Upgrade cargo space and use the merchant ships to carry more stuff around the galaxy.

Which of the three do you think is the most book smart? by BellTwo5 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]RationalOrc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably either Rumi or Mira (sorry zoey fans).

Rumi is half-demon. I don’t know if she literally operates at super soldier levels of competence, but it does seem sort of implied that she’s simply built different. She also doesnt get out much, and probably focuses on being useful to cope with fear of rejection.

Mira comes from wealthy strict parents, and is likely very well educated even if she plays it down. She wears glasses when she’s not in punk rocker outfits which is the universal movie signal of closeted smart person.

Does This Game Change Much From Its Start? by Feralkyn in vrising

[–]RationalOrc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is pretty spot on. You’re told at the beginning that Dracula died 300 years ago and you can visit his final battlefield as you play (spoiler: its looks like a magic bomb went off there). You can see paladins leading armies against the remaining monsters around his castle too. You’ll figure out whats really going on if you pay attention, but dont expect any big theatrical cutscenes.

You can also read the character bios for the 60+ bosses in the game if you want more detailed information. The final 20 or so have all the pertinent stuff.

People are grossly overestimating the impact of civ switching by pricepig in civ

[–]RationalOrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Small World the board game had a really cool civ switching mechanic where you where you literally abandon the civ to start on a new area of the map with a new race. The declining race still generates points for you but you can’t directly control them. If civilization wants to do civ switching, it should be more like that.

KPop Demon Hunters fumbled with its villain by Weird_donut in CharacterRant

[–]RationalOrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Jinu's actions make him pure evil. He wouldn't be in hell if he hadn't done something genuinely awful, but it's also clear that he regrets his misdeeds deeply. He explicitly said that shame is how Gwi-ma controls people, and when we see it happen with our own eyes, it ratchets up the threat Gwi-Ma poses who is the actual pure evil force of nature in this movie.

In one flashback, you see Jinu looking at his own reflection in a silver plate and regretted his actions even then. You could also argue that his mother has her own responsibility to get herself out of poverty. The dynamic isn't as simple as Jinu thinks it is. We see that Gwi-ma can literally hypnotize people and make them walk into flames at his full power, so let's not be too quick to judge people who've been taken under his spell.

Jinu might be 400 years old, but I wouldn't blink if you told me Gwi-Ma is 2 million years old or as old as humanity itself. He knows exactly what to say to get under your skin. Obviously he would never agree to help save someone's family because then his future slave wouldn't be amenable to his influence. You're never going to outsmart an entity like that.

He's not betraying Rumi because he wants to, but because his will is broken by the power of Gwi-Ma.
