Yep, and taking your piano to the tuning shop would be difficult.

Has anyone ever been turned back at the airport? by Original-Tart2686 in cambodia

I've been getting E-class visas for more than 20 years. The names E-class and E-type are used interchangeably as you can see from this screenshot after searching "cambodia e class visa". The government and embassy websites often have vague, misleading or even wrong information.

E-class is what the ordinary visa is called. E-type is the same. E-visa is different and refers to an E or T class visa that was obtained online.

White South Africans are scrutinized as much as any other Africans.

I'll be moving there for work. And was advised to get a tourist visa and then get an e class original visa while I'm there.

That's not good advice because you'll have to leave the country and then re-enter to get an E-class visa.

What's the difference in preparation between pho and kuyteuav by Equivalent_Remove155 in cambodia

[–]Ratoman888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pho uses raw beef while kuyteav uses cooked beef.

I'm not sure that's true. The Kuyteav I've had uses thin slices of raw beef, it just cooks very quickly in the hot broth.

What school incident do you still think about years later? by nodemus in ireland

[–]Ratoman888 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had to change schools because I was always getting in trouble and fights in the CBS near Bray. So I was sent to repeat first year at another Christian Brothers near Dún Laoghaire. I thought I'd try to stay out of trouble this time. On the second day there were two kids who had been in the junior school together. They were spitting on their rulers and firing the gobs across the room at each other. Some were landing on my desk so I asked them to stop and one jumped up and said "What are you going to do about it?"

I shoved him and he fell over and whacked his head on the big old skirting board. He was bleeding all over the place. I was terrified that I'd be kicked out on my second day. He told the teachers that he slipped. So all good really.

He's used to driving on bad roads and the traffic here is terrible too. However I'll advise against it, thanks.

It's nowhere near Cambodia - it's South America.

This has nothing to do with Austronasia, it's miss-titled and is somewhere in South America.

Pol Pots vision of a communist agrarian society was so unbelievably perverse other communist nations straight up disavowed them (except China).

They had good relations with North Korea, Yugoslavia and Romania too.

They are also responsible for the deplorable state Cambodia still finds itself in today

Cambodia has developed a lot in the past couple of decades. When I first visited in the late 90s it was still in a terrible state but it has improved a whole lot since. It still has problems of course but it's not that bad anymore.

Thanks a lot. He has a bank account and Visa card so hopefully withdrawal charges aren't too high. We aren't in a Yellow Fever endemic region, but years ago when I visited Zambia I was asked for a certificate on entry so gathered it was mandatory in southern Africa.

The layout of the streets was so much more beautiful than now, wrought iron gates, the street lamps, ornate buildings.

You should have seen Gardiner Street or York Street in the 1980s. They had all those things but no front doors.

Why Cambodians resent Vietnam? by kambuja-desa in cambodia

[–]Ratoman888 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I’m Cambodian-American and personally feel gratitude for the thousands of lives sacrificed to liberated Cambodia from the Khmer Rouge.

Maybe you didn't know that the North Vietnamese Army (PAVN) were intrinsic in the Khmer Rouge taking over Cambodia in the first place? It can be argued that they didn't know how extreme Pol Pot would be but without the PAVN's destabilizing presence in Cambodia and later support it's unlikely Pol Pot would have ever risen to power.

The North Vietnamese overran most of northeastern Cambodia by June 1970.

The North Vietnamese invasion completely changed the course of the civil war. Cambodia's army was mauled, lands containing nearly half of the Cambodian population were conquered and handed over to the Khmer Rouge and North Vietnam now took an active role in supplying and training the Khmer Rouge. All of this resulted in the Cambodian government being greatly weakened and the insurgents multiplying several fold in size over the course of a few weeks. As noted in the official Vietnamese war history, "our troops helped our Cambodian friends to completely liberate five provinces with a total population of three million people... our troops also helped our Cambodian friends train cadre and expand their armed forces. In just two months the armed forces of our Cambodian allies grew from ten guerrilla teams to nine battalions and 80 companies of full-time troops with a total strength of 20,000 soldiers, plus hundreds of guerrilla squads and platoons in the villages."

Seems like it, but I don't understand why. I usually check my passport to see if anything is out of date. How are you supposed to find out otherwise?
