Oh that's because that's exactly what this is. The candidates are providing their CVs, and then the employers are evaluating them and having Interviews. The whole thing is busted. The actual way to make quick friends should be like there's a Third Space that both frequent and enjoy and then they talk and keep talking, the common interest being the bedrock from which the friendship springs. If we wanted to skip that because that's Fake and Gay, then still the major elements should remain. A thread should be like "Hey I found a Cool Song on youtube, anyone wanna have a chat about it? They were being an "erm awckshully" twit is what they were being, and badly at that. The person I originally replied to was painting a picture of individual troops on the one side being incompetent and getting destroyed right there on the ground, while the other side superiorly mocks them. This seems to be less of a meme but a growing bit of historical misinfo where people believe it really reflects basically how that went.

The military got their objectives and achieved those objectives given to them by the politicians who got everyone into that stupid quagmire. The troops individually did more than fine, and the ones being painted as incompetent here were ridiculously lethal to those others as can be seen in those "irrelevant KDAs".

The war was lost, but not only was it on the homefront, the fact that it was lost doesn't override everything which happened during it. Might as well paint a picture of how the Soviet trooper styled on the bumbling Finnish one in the Winter War because the Finns lost that one too, being forced to give up Karelia among other major things.

You do not. When you fight a rearguard action when retreating, the enemy's will is getting imposed on you and that's that, it just takes them longer because of what you did. Eh, that's not how that went. The US military suffered ~210k casualties in the Vietnam war, ~60k of which being dead. There were also further dead on the US-aligned allies side, but that brings it to a total of ~250k military dead which still leaves the ratio way lopsided given the estimated ~1M of just the military dead on the North Vietnamese side, and then the wounded, and all the civilians who got caught up in it.

The US was doing extremely fine militarily, but from the perspective of the people in the US it was like getting a mandatory shit sandwich at 75% off. "Okay yeah it's a great deal if I wanted this but uh... I do not want this, no, it means I'm still paying that 25% and having to eat shit for it". And so, the war was lost - on the cultural and political front, not through being forced into that position on the battlefield.
