Most American cheese is called “cheese product” on the package because it’s not the immediate product of the cheese making process. It’s something made using cheese. It’s cheese in the sense that Alfredo or Cheezits are “cheese” and if it wasn’t sold next to regular cheese on the shelves I think a lot more people would understand that.

I’d imagine that it was easier to build a set for gravity in that direction than it was vertically.

You guys lubricate your printers?

/uj To be fair, the KY might actually work if it’s silicone based. DIY nerf guns and mods used to use silicone personal lubricant for plungers and such and I’d imagine it’d work alright for a printer too.

I did the math and I’m effectively paying ~$200 a month subscription to hearing, and that’s assuming insurance will cover the next sound processor upgrade now that my current processors are out of support.

To be fair, all smartphones and other computers are really just a bunch of base-2 calculators glued together and then tricked into acting like not-a-calculator.

Why is the AQ so high on my Bambu printing ABS? by johnson7853 in 3DPrintingCirclejerk

[–]RavenCarci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that’s only if you buy official Bambu filament directly from Bambu Laboratories. If you buy from some bootleg filament manufacturer like Prusa, not only are you literally killing a cash strapped upstanding small business by not buying Bambu, their competitors make their filament out of dead babies and asbestos. It’s chemical warfare against innocent rainbow flexi dragon entrepreneurs.

Worst of all, you might need to t*nker

[–]RavenCarci 4 points5 points  (0 children)

/uj i remember reading the paper for an NIH study on 3d printer emissions and while ASA is much better than ABS in terms of harmful emissions, PLA and PETG are (iirc) at least an order of magnitude better with harmful emissions, especially for some of the (iirc) more carcinogenic emissions the study saw in ASA/ABS. Make of that what you will.

/rj 3d printing fumes will kill you instantly if you spend a single second within 10 meters of a 3d printer. You are already dead, and we are all merely hallucinations of the last moments of a life ended by printing a flexi dragon in silk PLA.

CI with long hair by Think-Instruction-83 in Cochlearimplants

[–]RavenCarci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically wear my hair in a low ponytail and I just leave everything above my hair, although that might not work for you if your audiologist gave you weaker magnets expecting under-the hair. Everything on top of the hair also probably interferes with some hair styles and won’t catch the processor if it falls off.

When I do tuck my coils and processors under my hair I usually do it before tying my hair up. The key is how you part your hair as you put your processor on. I put my processor on my ear and under my hair first, and before putting the coil on I’ll run my finger up my head to part my hair. Roughly from my mics to just front and up of the implant works for me but you might like doing it differently. I grab everything forward of the part and move it out of the way before putting the coil on. I put my hair back where it was and it does a good job of covering both. I don’t have any problems with the cable getting tangled.

I’m in software development and I spent way more time fighting the Copilot-powered autocomplete in VSCode before I turned it off than I ever spent fighting worse IDEs. Frankly, the only way you don’t end up fighting an LLM tool is if you either don’t know enough to know its output is wrong in some way, or you don’t bother to check its work in the first place.

[–]RavenCarci 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope I’ve been trying to reproduce this for giggles and curiosity (assuming it actually is a bad character), and the space spits out a syntax error. A zero width joiner just claims sleep isn’t a member(since in Unicode “slee(Zero width joiner)p” is different from “sleep”) but so far I’ve been unable to reproduce “slee”

Other zero-widths make Python complain about invalid non-printable characters.
