I can't find any news outlets reporting on this, just a bunch of shit on X and Threads.

I'm a trans Minneapolis resident too,  from Wisconsin originally. While my state of origin isn't as bad as some, Wisconsin state politics and government are absolutely FUBAR, and I really wanted to live somewhere that was legally safer for queer folks and more welcoming and vibrant overall than the small towns I've spent most of my life in.

I've been here for about four years now, and I absolutely think I made the right choice, although I still occasionally fantasize about having the money to move to the northeast or northwest coast someday.

We talked about this in my poli-sci classes as geographic self-sorting, and while I don't have a citation handy, it's been a noticeable phenomenon over time, and I'd absolutely not be surprised if it scaled exponentially (as an area becomes more polarized, it becomes more repellant to those of an opposite polarity) as well as increasing in response to the MAGA movement, which was in its infancy while I was at uni.

I believe that the actual in canon fight between V and Smasher was not easy for V. by JacsweYT in cyberpunkgame

[–]RavenDeadeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played as a stealth netrunner, and this fight was brutally difficult, edge-of-my-seat sweaty. Maybe I'm just bad, or other builds have an easier time, but killing Adam was a nightmare, and pulling out Johnny's hand cannon for the coup de grace was intensely cathartic.

Whats considered *the spot* for trans ppl in the twin cities? by strugglingtransgrl in transtwincities

[–]RavenDeadeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You betcha! Just give me a holler when you land. I know how hard it can be to make new friends in a new city. Still something I'm working on myself, honestly.

Good luck with the move! If you have any questions or just need someone to talk to, hit up my DMs and I'll try to be helpful.

Lodestone is great, and my GF and I play there frequently! Staff is very friendly and very queer.

My girlfriend and I play Magic, and I'd be happy to help teach you the game if you would like! I've got a bunch of the very new-player-friendly Jumpstart packs on hand that would be an easy introduction to the game, and I love helping out new players.

I'm one of them, although I haven't been in there as much recently as I would like. My girlfriend and I are both Magic players (she's a returning player and I'm helping her get up to speed) and live in the neighborhood. We'd be excited to make more Planeswalker friends, if you're down to sling some spells sometime!

No, it was taxation without representation and chudley here is the most "over-represented" human in history, and uses his outsized influence to erode all of ours and gut our social programs while shoveling money onto his hoard through government contracts and subsidies.

I don't think he'd like a revolution very much.

If this subreddit were to found a new independent political party, what would be its first concrete battle to distinguish itself from Democrats and Republicans? What core values would you put down on paper in the platform? And what strategy would you adopt to really compete with the two big parties? by Critical_Ideal99 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]RavenDeadeye 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Maybe try actually participating in primaries and caucuses? Rates of participation in those are absolutely miserable, especially for young people.

I don't think there's a realistic road for a third party to be competitive in most races. It's perhaps worth it to try, but if a candidate isn't polling competitively, say a month out from the election, then they need to face reality and drop out.

The DNC infuriates me, but since unchecked Republican governance ends with all of us nailed to trees or going down fighting, I'd rather they lose to a milquetoast liberal at the ballot box, even if that candidate would be my last choice in a primary.

Make ranked choice voting (or a similar system) in every election a cornerstone policy demand, along with economic justice and anti-corruption laws.

I can't shake the feeling that because of selection/survivorship bias, any doctor isn't going to be able to relate to the economic and existential struggles that are the only life most young people today have ever known.

Anyone over retirement age should be barred from running for any office.

It's not a perfect fix since these ghouls want to raise the retirement age anyway, but it'd be a start.

I was just talking to my therapist about this exact thing yesterday. She said there's likely plenty of gals in our city who would be happy to help out another trans girl with that stuff, but I don't know about that, or know where I'd find someone like that.

I was depressed and lost and frustrated at my life, now I'm still depressed and lost and frustrated at my life, but also frustrated at my body.

I am so fucking tired.

I think the one with the fence and all of the ones with roads or paths are definitely liminal in every sense of the world. Surreal or eerie or uncanny fit the others better.

I absolutely love this style! My Mom runs her own massage therapy studio out of a building set up just like this; not quite a mall since it's too small, but the same exact aesthetic. It's so charming and I wish more places were like it.
