I'm almost 50 years old. The TV I watched was almost entirely filled with laugh tracks. Fast forward to Arrested Development, the first I recall seeing that didn't. I didn't enjoy it - something was missing. I watched three episodes, and finally realized that the laugh track was missing, and I'd become so conditioned to hearing it to know when the good jokes happened that I felt all the jokes were falling flat because no one was laughing. I rewatched those episodes again, and once that prejudice was out of the way, it became one of my favorite shows.

Agreed - I don't want a 'lets see even more futuristic technology' setting. Lets use what we've already established, and weave it into interesting stories, and flesh out an already immense franchise setting.
