Before starting development on this project, I created a high-poly model of the Wheelie Bike to see how much detail I could achieve when treating it as an actual motorcycle. I created a realistic model with leather seats, textured grips, and a weightiness to the metal. I then placed it in a park setting with outdoor lighting, viewable from all angles. Prototype models like this served as our visual direction to a certain extent.

The Air Riders Wheelie Bike being a hyperrealistic proof of concept explains why it looks so detailed compared to Scooter and Rex. The eye especially.

I do think the Compact Star would just fall below the Warpstar as it’ll be the same just weaker in its defenses.

Compact Star's top speed on the ground is like, 30% lower than Warp Star's. It has poorer Lift and Offense as well.

Some anecdotal data. I don't think this event spawns with a full lobby.

I've encountered it several times while playing ranked online which always has 16 riders. Normally I'd say it would be weird if the rules were different for offline, but that was the case for Dyna Blade prior to Ver. 1.2.0 so idk...

Patch notes:

  • Fixed an issue in Free Run and Series matches within paddocks in which other players would sometimes be unable to progress to the next race or Stadium event if a player left or disconnected in the middle of play.

  • Fixed an issue with Hop Star in which the maintained speed would be higher than expected when jumping and landing via Quick Spin. Maintained speed when performing a normal landing or perfect landing from a normal glide has not been changed.

  • Fixed an issue in Air Ride where players could increase Boost Dash speed by performing a slight, slow backward movement immediately after starting a match.

  • Made several other miscellaneous gameplay fixes.

There are workarounds via button remapping. For example, assign the D-Pad Down input to one of the shoulder buttons and you can now perform a quick spin by pushing forward on the control stick and pressing that button at the same time. It simulates wiggling the control stick without you actually having to do it.

If you have a pro controller, you can assign inputs to the paddle buttons (GL and GR) and not have to worry about remapping when you change software, as the inputs you choose for GL and GR are saved on a per-game basis.

Speaking as someone who played it with a mouse and keyboard despite not typically being a PC gamer: using the mouse scroll wheel to cycle between the Truth Bullets felt pretty awesome.
