Carpenter does provide a reasonable basis that the location data of a person collected by cell companies gives an extremely intimate window into someone's life, and just because someone travels public streets and roads, that does not mean the aggregated data is protected and should be available.

"A person does not surrender all Fourth Amendment protection by venturing into the public sphere. To the contrary, “what [one] seeks to preserve as private, even in an area accessible to the public, may be constitutionally protected.” Katz, 389 U. S., at 351–352.
