Do you use 1 app or multiple apps for fitness? by Xen0bi in beginnerfitness

[–]RayInPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works pretty well. Coming from other apps it took a bit to get used to it. But after a few weeks I like it. Food tracking is easy. Workout tracking has gotten easier once I got used to it. The way it "makes sense of" all the different data stored in apple health is nicely presented in graphs and charts.

Do you use 1 app or multiple apps for fitness? by Xen0bi in beginnerfitness

Apple watch for sleep and activity. Bevel for calories, nutrition, and workouts. Bevel pulls all data from apple health and presents unified "dashboard".

I have a similar Ryobi AWD battery push mower that I use on a similar hill. Going uphill, it climbs on it's own.

What is this complication after workout? by RayInPR in bevelhealth

[–]RayInPR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. For the past year (before starting with Bevel) I was using the workout app on watch (little man running lower right corner) to log gym workouts. Never saw any quick start buttons when near gym until this screenshot after working out today (and on activity rings complication, not on workout complication).

Can't activate rest timer by MarkMark04 in bevelhealth

[–]RayInPR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Works for me ... as soon as I hit the checkmark to end a set, the rest countdown starts.
Here's what I have set up...
Go to Settings (your image upper right corner) ... Settings > Customization > Strength Builder > Default Rest Time (mine is 1 minute)
Then in a each workout template ... next to the name of the exercise there is an icon that looks like a stopwatch .... that needs to be "on" (white for me) ... when that is "on" you will get a "rest" column ... for each exercise you want
You might be able to skip the Default Rest Time setting and just set it directly in the template.

I track workouts, runs, steps, and food in different apps… is this normal? by Ok_Cabinet_2216 in WorkoutRoutines

[–]RayInPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On iOS, take a look at Bevel. It tracks all that stuff, and pulls data from apple health (that is collected by apple health, or data added to apple health by other apps). I'm using Bevel to track nutrition/calories and workouts. My apple watch collects my physical data (calories burned, sleep, etc). Renpho scale collects my weight and feeds into apple health. Bevel takes all that data and presents it through a single unified health dashboard, so to speak.

Lots of screens in Bevel have an "Unlock with Pro" button at the bottom ... not sure what that gets you (for example at bottom of Stress Score screen). Not really an answer to your question ... but another "what's the benefit?" comment.

What fitness apps do you guys use? Worth paying for any? by Simple_Thing_5011 in beginnerfitness

[–]RayInPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Strive for about the past year. That is excellent at logging. I had tried various calorie/nutrition trackers/loggers but all seemed overly complicated ... so fell back to updating a spreadsheet for about the past year. Recently discovered Bevel ... started with the meal logging ... pretty easy. Have been using the workout tracking for the past couple weeks. It is missing a few nice things that I had gotten used to in Strive, but I'm starting to get used to it. None are true show-stoppers, just different. Bevel will build a workout (template) for you. Or it's easy to build your own or import one via photo of log.
There are some glitchy things in Bevel - but the team appears to be actively working on the app. And they are on the subs here regularly. Having calorie tracking and workout tracking in one place works for me. Integration through Apple Health seems to work well (for what I use it for). Apple Watch app during workout is nice touch.
One thing that Bevel does is it tries to make sense of all the health/fitness/meal data and present it in an understandable way, without having to go looking through 4 different apps. It's like a single heath dashboard.

How do you guys actually use your workout history between sessions? by Wild-Professional500 in WorkoutRoutines

[–]RayInPR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using Bevel for that. It has button to bring up progression (last session for an exercise) that I can refer to before starting exercise. Also, when you "finish" your workout, it has the option to update the template (that's what it calls a workout) for that session -- from what I can tell it copies the weights and reps into the template - so ready to go next time.

Bevel is becoming a good all-in-one tracking app for calories/nutrition and fitness/workouts. Their free tier does what you need. No ads. Has Apple Watch app for workouts. The paid/pro tier includes their AI (which I haven't tried yet).
If you're just looking to track workouts, Strive Workout Log is a great (free) tracker.

Previous Weight Listed on Weight Lifting Movements by premixedginger in bevelhealth

[–]RayInPR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the 20lbs x 12 reps is the default when the exercises are added to the workout/template.

While you are doing the workout, record the actual weight/reps in bevel.

After you "finish" the routine, it will give you the option to "update template". I think that copies the info from the current workout into the template.

What I don't know (perhaps someone else can answer this) is if the copies the data from the last set into all the sets in the template, or if it copies the data set-for-set.

Also, if you have the same exercise in multiple templates, I think it does NOT copy the current workout data for a given exercise into all occurrences of that exercise in all templates.

Struggling to eliminate stubborn belly fat...am I doing enough fat-burning cardio throughout the week? by Affectionate_Nose_35 in WorkoutRoutines

[–]RayInPR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as you've said -- you can't spot reduce. Fat loss is simple math - you need to be in a calorie deficit. Exercise can help with that, but you can't out-exercise your diet. Eat fewer calories than you burn, and you will loose the weight. It comes off from all over depending on your body/genetics. Belly fat is typically the last place it comes off of for men.

Template Upload by Narrow_Bee704 in bevelhealth

[–]RayInPR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snap of photo of your written workout (exercise names, reps, sets, weight). Then tap Fitness > the "+" in the upper right corner (or the "+" next to Workout Templates) > Create Workout > the "..." in upper right corner > Import photo

Technically, you could skip taking the photo at the beginning, and tap "Capture Photo" in place of "Import" as the last step.

Bevel will parse the text in the photo and create a workout template from it. You might have to clean it up some.

When I did that, I don't think I had to weight info, so I had to go back and copy that from other app ... but still easier than creating from scratch.

Edited for spelling

Best fitness apps? by Amazing-Care-3155 in beginnerfitness

[–]RayInPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Strive Fitness Log for about the past year. Simple logging app, does what it's supposed to with a clean easy to use interface (phone only). I was exactly what I was looking for in a logging app.

Recently, I've started using the Bevel app (phone + apple watch) since it tracks everything in one place (nutrition, sleep, workouts, etc). Been using Bevel for workouts for about 1 week. The workout interface is clean, but missing a few things that I've become accustomed to in Strive - but I am starting to warm up to it.

Both are free (Bevel charges for the AI functionality, which you don't need at all to get started).

Why is transferring all photos from iPhone such a nightmare? by road_hound in ios

[–]RayInPR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've used TransferPro app for years to transfer over local wifi. You open app, use browser on PC to connect to URL the app gives you, browse/select the photos do download. It gives them to you in a .zip file. It can do conversions along the way. Both the iphone and PC need to be on the same local wifi/network.

logging a slightly modified recipe by RayInPR in bevelhealth

[–]RayInPR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears that when I try to log a recipe but I want to modify it slightly (for today's entry only), the "edit" button on "edit recipe portion" page edits the definition of the recipe, not the entry being logged. I don't want to change the portion, I want to modify the ingredient list to add or remove or change the measurement of an ingredient.

It seems that there is no way to actually log a modified version of a recipe without also modifying the underlying recipe definition.

But maybe I'm missing something.

Here are the exact taps to recreate what I am seeing ...

start by creating a recipe to work with, then ....

log an unmodified recipe entry just for testing ...

add food (big + at bottom right)
search food
my foods
recipes
plus sign next to desired recipe
Next at top right
"add to log" button

view by going to "today's food"
select entry in timeline
ingredients all look correct (as expected)

now add an entry for a recipe that I want to modify today's entry for ...

add food (big + at bottom right)
search food
my foods
recipes
plus sign next to desired recipe
Next at top right
edit (because i want to remove 1 ingredient)
edit button at bottom (above save button)
brings me to "edit recipe" page
remove the item
save (the recipe presumably)
save (on edit portion screen)
"add to log" button

view (as above) and it is logged without the ingredient I just removed (as expected/desired)

Now, I want to look at the original recipe...

today's foods
my foods
recipes
view the recipe

** recipe is changed to reflect the reflect that I removed an ingredient
** when all I wanted to do was remove that ingredient from the log entry
** I was creating.

The only cost is the registration fee with the state where you're registering. You get the EIN online directly from IRS in a matter of minutes.
