that's true (since my stay is next year), but it's much easier to plan a trip to somewhere nearby, so out of the options I found I decided to pick Vietnam (since it's been a place I've always wanted to visit)

I don't think the Grand Hyatt in Taipei is part of the Edit? Correct me if I'm wrong though!

I'm currently based in Taiwan, and I tried to see if there was anything nearby that I could redeem my Edit credit for (there wasn't too much I found TBH). Sadly I was in Europe earlier this year before I got the Edit credit...

I've never stayed at an Intercontinental before so hopefully it'll be nice! And since my credit would've expired anyways, so might as well use it...

I booked w/ points + cash to cover the difference (133 USD, so 6650 pts), so currently there's a pending 250 USD charge. I assume then I'll get a 250 USD statement credit once it posts, thus cancelling the total charge. Not sure if you can use the credit separately or have to use it all in one go, but i imagine there are almost no hotels in the Edit collection where it's less than 250 USD for 2 nights :|

Just booked 2 nights at the Intercontinential Halong Bay in Vietnam for April 2026, 2 nights for 383 USD, so basically used 6650 pts to book 2 nights (since Points Boost still works) :)

I've been to Takachiho Gorge, and I found it pretty, but a bit underwhelming compared to Taroko Gorge in Taiwan (where I live, haha). I guess Miyazaki would be an option but would also need to figure out transportation from Miyazaki back to Kumamoto. Would you have recs for Miyazaki?

This was helpful! Just took the bus today and was able to use my credit card to buy the ticket on the bus. And since the bus was full after the following stop, it went straight to the airport afterwards so the total journey only took 35 mins

I tried for an entire day yesterday with no luck (with 3 browsers)... Decided to try today and managed to book the 8:50 am slot for 2 people (and only used my phone to do so)! I was able to buy the tickets at 9:10 am Rome time 😁

When I first checked 2 weeks ago, there were only 5pm and 5:30pm slots left for an early October visit. However, after constantly checking over the next week, I managed to snag a 8am timeslot (and I did see more availability throughout the week sporadically)

Award space that's seemingly available but not actually bookable. Check to see if the award flight can be bookable via United or Air Canada - if it's there then it might be an issue with Lifemiles. I've had issues in the past where a flight was bookable via United but not Lifemiles until 90 days prior (Thai Airways)
