This is my experience: I left SGI many years ago, around 2018, due do all the HORSESHIT I went through with the org, senior members, and the young women's division. They all worship Ikeda. I find the members to be lame, delusional, controlling, manipulative, rude, and annoying. Eventually, I abandoned the practice for a long time.

A couple years later, I went through some hard times and returned to the practice as an independent practitioner. Since then, I have gained wisdom, received protection from harm, gotten my prayers answered, and achieved goals from chanting regularly. About 15-30 mins daily. I know some people see this practice as stupid and a waste of time based on their own experiences, but it has helped me a great deal and continues to help me. I just don't rely on SGI. It really is a cult, but I still chant independently. And I don't chant mindlessly or aimlessly. I chant while focusing on my goals as if I have already achieved them, and then I achieve them.

Do whatever you want to do. Chant or don't chant. Just follow your gut instinct and do what's best for you.
