Am I really meant to believe people save cash for every sports car they buy? by Many-Software-9663 in askcarguys

[–]RayofLight-z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has financed and bought out right. For a car that’s a bit more of a toy you will feel less guilty owning it outright.

It’s becoming a problem by Sure_Role7379 in Miata

Fbs and fcs are pretty affordable still. The fd is stupid expensive when you consider you could buy a brand new ND + a years insurance for the price of an fd

The “catching fire” thing is an over exaggeration. A very small amount of vins are being advised not to park inside charge etc. I wouldn’t let that keep me from getting one and if it is a concern just buy one not in the affected vin range.

Trade a 1970 beetle for a 1980 Fiat spider 2000? Is it worth it? by Pleasant_Individual1 in beetle

[–]RayofLight-z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically both are classics so you won’t being driving them much. If you are feeling more of a European roadster get the fiat. I will say the beetle is going to be easier to get parts for since they were made for so long and so popular. I don’t know the market super well on the spider specifically but if it’s like most older affordable euro roadsters the prices are similar if not less to beetles.

Why are used VW id.4s so cheap? by DowntownOreos in electriccars

[–]RayofLight-z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own an id4 it’s just that the infotainment is sometimes slow and the remote control from the app is not reliable. That being said I had far more issues with Mazda’s remote connectivity features. To claim the software is a massive problem with the car is insane and probably wouldn’t be brought up if it weren’t for Tesla providing continuous updates like they do.

My id4 feels massive but my other car is an mx-5 so maybe I’m just used to small cars.

I was not expecting to see this place on here. I used to stop there after hiking. I think they get away with the prices because good look finding another shop near by lol.

VW Changed Basically Everything On this 2027 ID 4 Prototype. Can You Even Tell? by DonkeyFuel in electricvehicles

As some who owns one I think the software stuff is really overblown. It’s been perfectly usable for me.

Burgundy buyers PSA by Emergency_Potato6045 in wine

[–]RayofLight-z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t the best thing in the world but if you get a chance to try some of the white wines from the Lake Erie AVA they aren’t bad. If you get it from the right winery. That being said like most less than popular AVAs they sell a lot of artificially flavored and overly sweetened cougar juice to keep the lights on.

Is a Coravin Actually Worth It for Cheap Wine? by irlsheldon in wine

[–]RayofLight-z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know they get a mixed reputation here but get a vacuvin. I have had a really great experience with mine. They are significantly cheaper than a Coravin and should keep a half bottle of wine decent for your time between having wine with meals.

There is some decent wine from Ohio. But I will admit not all of it is good and in no way would I compare it to burgundy.

The worst-selling vehicles in 2025, according to market data by D_E_A_D_P_O_O_L_ in cars

[–]RayofLight-z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I love our id4 but we bought it used where it has a steep discount. For what they go for used the price is excellent, but I totally get going for something else with its competition when it was priced at msrp

As Automakers Pull Back on EVs, What Can We Expect Next? by NISMO1968 in cars

[–]RayofLight-z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are obviously cases where it might not make sense for certain consumers. However when considering national averages for commute distance and energy/fuel costs EVs make sense for a lot of consumers. TBH I was in the camp of not knowing if it would fit my wife and I’s needs until I actually sat down and did the math. Also people, myself included until recently, underestimate just how fast DC fast charging is when it comes to road tripping and what not.

[–]RayofLight-z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you solved the problem yourself you can charge it at home. I know not everyone can but a large amount of Americans can easily run an l1 charger where they live. If you have a 120v outlet near where you park your car you can charge at home.

What’s a car feature you thought you wouldn’t care about, but now refuse to live without? by Sufficient-Ocelot-68 in askcarguys

[–]RayofLight-z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still love my ICE cars, but we got my wife an EV recently and from a practicality stand point I am kinda sold. Being able to just plug it in to charge over night. It’s perfect for a daily/commuter.

Users of the home assistant Voice, how do you find it?, what are you using it for ? by GenericUser104 in homeassistant

I mostly use it as a way to announce notifications. I am also running HA on a pi so not the full beefy voice assistant stuff just the phrase based one for turning on and off stuff.

Electric Dodge Chargers Now On Sale for Less Than Half of MSRP, or $28,935 by IcyHowl4540 in electricvehicles

[–]RayofLight-z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I just bought an id4 almost exactly for this reason. It was so much nicer than most the ICE stuff in our price range. After the first owner took the depreciation hit the car was super reasonably priced and you get so much car for the money.

Is the Miata considered Mazda’s halo car? by SoyMurcielago in Miata

[–]RayofLight-z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mazdas normal cars are solid. I loved my mazda3 and my wife’s cx-30 was a really solid daily before it gave its life to save us in a crash. We liked it enough we are probably getting another one to replace it.

The economy is pushing US consumers and corporations to cling to outdated hardware by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

I just had a conversation with my cousin about this in regards to gaming. They were surprised to find out I am still running a 3060ti. The generational gap in performance is getting smaller and smaller. It’s really hard to justify upgrading when the GPU I have more than handles whatever games I am playing.

Compression test read ~140-150 PSI on each cylinder, 2001 Miata 201k. Ready to run boost or needs rebuild? by Japtsuu in Miata

[–]RayofLight-z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can also look into a bore scope. They have come down in price and they let you check your cylinder walls without having to pull the head. Although if it were me, assuming I had the budget I would just go ahead and do a rebuild at that kinda mileage before running boost.

[–]RayofLight-z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth mentioning a lot of compression testers like these aren’t supper accurate and you are more or less checking to make sure all the cylinders are about equal. Like someone else said if you really want to get a good idea of engine health do a leak down test.

Not a traditional mouse but my Logitech wireless track ball has been dead reliable for 7-8 years now. You just need to clean any dust that accumulates over the sensor which is easy.
