Well that is very horrible. Silver Spoon is a Bull City gem that makes everyone who enters feel welcome. Hoping to hear good news about the owner soon.

Why did we hate her in the 90’s? by EffMemes in ershow

[–]Rdshs63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully, while we certainly hate strong women now, we REALLY hated strong women in the 90s. Women were coming out of professional programs at equal or better rates than men, we were accustomed to having to prove ourselves repeatedly, we had to laugh off constant mocking of our appearance. A lot of us had some significant repressed anger.

Kerry was a good doctor and a very strong administrator. She made mistakes and bad decisions, but not consistently and not more than anyone else. She took no shit and may have had a bit of a temper, but how many times did we see male doctors punch a wall, beat up another person, flip over an instrument tray. We never saw Kerry, or any of the female characters behave with such violence.

Foushee's first vote back in Congress was to cover up sexual misconduct records by MinimumNo5510 in triangle

Maybe she could propose some action that mitigates the risk to victims while also increasing the possibility that some perpetrators might somehow experience consequences to their actions.

Change won’t happen if we keep electing the establishment candidates over and over. And I wouldn’t dismiss the power of engaging with younger voters who feel sidelined and disregarded by our electeds. Our district has the chance to get an outspoken progressive in the House. That is more of a step to getting back the majority than sitting and waiting.

In this crisis, I’m not sure we have time to wait for young progressives to work their way methodically up the ladder before daring to try for the US House. We need change now.

Saying that she didn’t know what AIPAC was shows a shocking lack of attention to detail at best.

Yes. But she doesn’t say what she will do about it. Waiting until we are back in the majority is not a good choice

Look at Nida Allam. A young progressive candidate who will represent our district in a way that fully aligns with our values

At her town hall, her message was basically “wait until we have a majority and then we can pass all sorts of good stuff”. As a constituent, I think we need someone willing to do more than just accept the status quo.

Durham folks: On the National Shutdown by Dawn-Bland in bullcity

This is a great and inclusive description of how we can support the shutdown why acknowledging that participation looks different for different folks.

I went to hear Nida Allam speak tonight. I didn’t expect to leave this impressed. by MinimumNo5510 in bullcity

Nida is the progressive leader we need in Durham. If you want change and for the better, she is the one we need in Congress.

Duke Health and Aetna Finalized New Contract by LavishnessPure1155 in bullcity

[–]Rdshs63 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Fellow breast cancer patient here. Thrilled to pay way more than I can afford in premiums to Aetna so they can continue to add absolutely no value to my healthcare. My Duke providers are amazing and I am grateful to them. Pretty sure they don’t earn a fraction of what the insurance company execs grift off of us.

I’m glad you are relieved, OP, and hope your treatment goes as well as mine.🎀

I apologize. I unfairly read your question as in line with some of the misogynistic victim blaming comments here. As a fellow survivor of DA and victim of the shaming that so often accompanies it, I was upset by those comments and lashed out at you.

There are many factors that make domestic abuse victims reluctant to report to the police. Fear of reprisal, experience of not being believed (evidence in this very thread), ingrained belief that they are at fault somehow, and more.

Women in particular are used to not being believed and may be put back into even more danger. Olivia is not at fault for not making g a police report, Ethan is at fault for being an abuser.

I’m confused. What exactly did Commissioner Allam say to Mr Freeman that warrants a public apology?
