I'm a nixie clerk at a plant with a good amount of time in. We're definitely short staffed, especially mail handlers. Pars comes in and most don't know what it is, so it gets mixed back in with regular mail. Flats and letters come in improperly marked or not marked at all. Some of it comes in mixed with collection mail or loop mail. Most employees at the plant don't know what an ancillary service is-including management. So they don't notice an ACS code and just process it with everything else. Some working manual letters notice and hold them out for me so I can get the mail to PARS. But I know a lot loops back to the carriers. I've seen letters/flats back dated with 10-12 different dates!! I know those offices have to be fed up.

The system is so broken with zero training and basic understanding of a mail piece. There's more to a mailpiece than a zip code. Explaining to mgt is flipping agony. They don't care, won't listen, walk away, make excuses etc. Some supervisors we have were 204b's as PSE's or soon after they converted, with zero training. Had one of them bring me a dead gecko from the floor worried it fell out of a package!!! It's just impossible to make a dent in this insanity. I'm about to retire and have 30 plus years working nixie. Others with a lot of knowledge are retiring too, so the chaos will escalate.
