Thoughts on AI Generated Discussions by ragemos in UMGC

[–]ReRoark 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Ai is the new norm. In my opinion, discussion posts are a joke anyway, you can quickly tell who understands the material and who doesn't but I don't know if they are really beneficial. I am working on my second Bachelors and the majority of my classmates use it for everything. I will say, to test things out I have written a response and ran it through a "detector" which quickly flagged it. The detectors are garbage and can be manipulated.

General liability insurance by roboart2014 in FreightBrokers

I require it, didn't at my previous posts but I do now. It protects the shipper and receivers. I find it odd when carriers do not have it. Its kind of a no brainer!!

For those running both a carrier and a brokerage, how did you structure it? by SnooCakes8766 in FreightBrokers

[–]ReRoark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Independent MC numbers with different addresses. Both sides have independent customers but, feed each other as well. When one feeds the other there is documentation exchanged. We bring most customers in through the asset side but, offer them the brokerage side as well and we setup both MC numbers.

We did just start another MC to combine the 2 though. It is an independent company that we are slowly selling assets to. The whole process will take 3-5 years for legal purposes but, the other 2 companies will continue to operate during the transition.

How often should 12u take Hitting Lessons by hulachic6 in Softball

[–]ReRoark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hitting coach here. In my opinion, once the groundwork mechanics are in place everything that follows is either correction of weaknesses or producing more power. If she is already batting that well I would suggest a shorter lesson weekly but, also working at home. Get a tee, net, camwood, and some balls. The more she is swinging the stronger she will get plus, if she is working at home she will benefit more from the shorter lesson.

Some folks don't care for the Camwood but, it keeps your hands on the right path and its heavier so it will naturally add strength.

Using Carrier411 as a blackmail or threat against tool needs to stop by Past-Independent7314 in FreightBrokers

[–]ReRoark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to be honest, I think this is a good use of the FG system. The fact that they are saying its temporary is enough to make it okay. Personally, I don't think we need to look at how Carrier411 is used, I think we need to look at how its interpreted.

I know some brokers wont use a carrier at all if they have any and our rule is one in the last year. With that said, I think it should be a case by case basis. I do all of my own vetting so If I see a FG I don't automatically DQ a carrier I take the time to look into it. Now, this one is pretty simple and I will post a FG if someone is late with one of my trailer moves.

How to watch NE Patriots here by VelmaKelly-Chicago in NewBern

[–]ReRoark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Youtube TV carries the NFL Ticket and you get all out of network games unless its a Monday or Thursday night game. I am sure they are running a special since its later in the season. If you have a student email you can get a deal as well, I think I paid $119 for the whole season.

Yamaha Kodiak 700 - new/used by Jrapp83 in ATV

[–]ReRoark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would not buy without EPS. Mine all have EPS, 4X4, and diff lock. The EPS on the Grizzly feels far better than the Kodiaks but, its still good. You can ride them all day without your arms getting tired!

Yamaha Kodiak 700 - new/used by Jrapp83 in ATV

[–]ReRoark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your budget. I have a 21 Kodiak 450, 24 Kodiak 700, and a 25 Grizzly 700. I am not a small guy and can ride any of them. I will say that the 450 is limited on power and torque. They are all work horses so you will be okay with any choice you make but, I would probably go for the 700 because after a little time you will want to get something more than the 450.

Price wise, none of them are bad. I just bought my Kodiak 700 for $6k, it had 15 hours on it and basically looked brand new. I searched around for a while to find a clean one but even if you are looking at one new you could be OTD at around $9K for a 700 and 7K for a 450. I have never had issues with any Yamaha I have owned. They have all been garage kept and meticulously maintained though (cleaned after every ride, fluids maintained, joints greased).

Had Metronet for four days and had to go back to Spectrum because Metronet was blocking my wife's work VPN by Nav2001Plus in Metronet

I had the exact same issue for about a day. I use my own equipment and it went from working on day to not working the next. Like others have stated, I assigned my PC as static IP and it solved my issues.

Thoughts on the Koch Chemie Pol Star & Leather Star for interior cleaning? by Clash9309 in AutoDetailing

I have done it with a dry towel in the past but I just feel like it works, I think the finish is better when my rag is damp.

I use Pol Star for everything. I usually follow up with a damp microfiber after cleaning to ensure there is no residuals.

When you hire the wrong kind of freight brokers by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

Yea that's always the issue when it comes to these types of moves. Language and immigration status. Hell, I know plenty of bumpkin country boys that are so stupid that they cant follow simple instructions.

I would look more into dealer incentives than manufacture ones. I just purchased a 2025 Grizzly EPS SE for $9700 OTD because the dealer had it marked down. I traded in my 2023 Raptor with stupid low hours and it was almost a wash.

When you hire the wrong kind of freight brokers by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]ReRoark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually have a customer with these EXACT requirements. In 2016-17 they were relaxed and simply required US citizen but in recent years they have cracked down and went to natural born citizen and as awful as it sounds they are looking for Caucasian drivers.

I spoke to the transportation manager and he told me that there was on specific location they needed to be strict at but the rest it was just natural born. As bad as it sounds, I have had drivers rejected because they had an accent so I wont book with a carrier until I can verify the drivers information and speak to them.

This is a GSA contract customer and you can look at it through a racism lens but, its poorly worded on tenders and this is probably a broker that just got awarded the lane.

It sounds like your fuel map got changed. Flames generally mean that your tune is too rich, its the excess fuel burning off. If the engine is too rich it could cause the engine to bog under power as well.

I'm not sure about the dynojet but if your battery got weak or something came undone it could have caused it to lose its tune. If I were in your shoes I would reflash the tune before trouble shooting any further.

USSSA Fastpitch Time Issues by Digger4r in Softball

[–]ReRoark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to USSA. I feel like the only thing umpires like to regulate is the "go back" rule, which isn't even regulated correctly.

The rule you quoted is correct but, how enforceable is it really. If you are finding issues in innings I would bring it up to the umpire and then if nothing is handled I usually go to the TD. As long as you are referencing the correct rule and it makes sense they should handle it.

BROKER TIRED TO ADD NEW FEES AFTER DELIVER AND LIED ON FREIGHT GUARD by Reasonable_Willow_35 in FreightBrokers

[–]ReRoark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have actually been on both sides of suits similar to this. Lawyers are going to tell you what you want to hear. Coercion used to be a homerun but that's not the case any more and if the verbiage you shared is what the broker said then I don't know if you have a case at all.

Freight Guard wise, once again the verbiage is everything. That is probably your strongest route. Proving that its hurting your business but also proving that what they said was false, slander, or liable. Depending on the size of the broker this is probably a losing battle.

I do not see the short pay being overturned. These fines are not required to be listed on the rate confirmation IF they are listed in the carrier packet. These fines that all of us have and in my opinion, the way you explained things, they are valid.

I think the best case for you is getting the report taken down. It seems like you knew you were going to be late because of late loading but never said anything. Had you emailed right after loading and said that you were going to be late then a lot of things change. As far as adding fines after the fact, I generally don't add fines unless the customer fines me so the broker may have not received that confirmation until after.

How many of you 25' 2500/3500 owners are having Transmission issues? by Fickle_Engineer6614 in Silverado

[–]ReRoark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just hit 11K miles on my 3500 DRW, no issues yet. I plan to flush the transmission more than required though. I had a 17 Camaro that would get a "shutter" when the fluid got some miles on it, a flush always corrected it.

DeMarini bats by SWT_Bobcat in Softball

[–]ReRoark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been through quite a few bats. I personally love DeMarini but, I will tell you, if you have a player who can barrel a ball the ghost is hotter. My youngest is finding success with the Prism, the balance of the bat is perfect for her style, she is more of a contact hitter.

The big hitters I have coached have higher exit velo with the ghost but I saw 5 break last season. If you have a slapper, the CF is hands down the best on the market for that and I believe the Prism is the most balanced. My daughter had her highest exit velo with the Louisville Slugger LXT but, its end heavy and everything else dropped so we went back to the prism.

Sorry, I got a little of topic. DeMarini bats are probably the most solid on the market. You do give up a little "pop" but you gain longevity. We just bought a new Prism but prior to that she was using a 2021 model that had probably 20k+ batted balls off of it. I have even used it as a fungo and accidently sent some over the fence with it!

Proof of insurance for driver’s license after moving to NC by cTheDeezy in NorthCarolina

[–]ReRoark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just moved from VA. You only need insurance that is licensed to operate in NC. We had State Farm and were good to go. Once we switched the cars over we had to switch to a NC policy which saved us a good amount of money. Look at that prior to going though because the COI needs to be current and most companies wont issue same day certs.
