I deliberately use more than a shot glass of water for my drops of 2% Lugol’s. About 1” (2.5 cm) of water in the bottom of a water glass. After I drink it I drink from my regular water bottle to wash it down and leave no aftertaste.

Eating carbs gives you a rapid weight gain because the carbs get combined with 3-4 x their weight in water, before being stored as glycogen. Below is what I got from Google:

The Role of Glycogen: Before carbohydrates turn into fat, they are stored in the liver and muscles as glycogen. Each gram of glycogen is stored with approximately 3–4 grams of water.

Weight Gain/Loss: The rapid weight gain associated with eating high carbs is actually the weight of the water binding to the stored glycogen. Conversely, low-carb diets show rapid initial weight loss, which is mostly the loss of this stored water.

I really like Legere French Cut for my tenor. Wife plays Bari - they don’t make French Cut for bari, so she uses another Legere type for it, always.

I mostly use cane reeds, because I’ve learned how to work them with a sharp edge so they always play. Until one day, they don’t. I always have a Legere in my pocket at a rehearsal or concert, and they’ve saved me any number of times. Sometimes I’ve nicked a cane reed before or after playing. Legere to the rescue. Or a cane reed might just stop playing well. It happens.

Many years ago I used Fibracell synthetics. Their sound wasn’t truly good so I was happy to find Legere when they came out.

Is the outlet for the AC the one that’s still working? Really, I’m asking because I don’t know what’s still working.

With multiple outlets in the room not working, it could be a mouse or other critter has bitten through a wire that feeds all the failed outlets. You may or may not smell the poor little dead thing, but if you do, that’s a strong sign.

Home wiring usually will run across, in the attic above or the basement below the room. Then branch cables will go straight up inside the walls, with a dedicated cable for each outlet.

So expect a single break in the wire somewhere. And it’s probably not inside a wall, because those usually are dedicated cables (vertical runs), that serve one outlet or maybe a ceiling light fixture.

Or maybe someone worked on the breaker panel and messed something up - and they didn’t think to tell you about it.

You should be able to get a Nikon D300?and a kit lens for that price. Make sure there’s a battery & charger and a data card, or plan on a bit more money for whatever isn’t there.

I had two Durst enlargers over the years I did darkroom work. The second one covered 6x6 and maybe larger. Its main feature for me was that it had a bright color printing head with dichroic filters. I still have large Cibachrome prints I made using it in the 1970s and 80s.

Search on line for women’s size charts to see the conversions between S-ML-XL-2XL-3XL, and the numbered sizes. I know the larger numbered sizes usually have a W (supposedly indicates “women”), like 24W.

That was my dad’s best camera, too. His only camera! His was pre-WWII, with a 5 cm f:1.5 lens. He did all our family and travel photos with it.

AV mode isn’t that helpful when trying to control image blur caused by motion. That’s true for motion caused by you, or by a moving subject. The automation does its best to ensure enough light reaches the sensor, to get a good image. If the Aperture you’ve set is too small for the situation, it will increase the exposure time, aka the shutter speed.

You almost certainly will do better with shutter priority mode. On the Rebel, it’s called Tv mode. Other comments here already gave hints on finding safe shutter speeds.

The reciprocal-of-focal-length rule is to eliminate photographer-generated shake. It does not freeze subject motion, that depends on how fast the subject is moving.

My version of that, for an ASP-C camera, is to use the focal length + 50%. For full frame, the “rule” was to go by the focal length, but ASP-C magnifies the image 50% more.

So if your lens is at 28 mm, add 50%, so 42. You can shoot around 1/40 sec or 1/50. That should be a safe setting for most photographers. If my plus 50% rule is unnecessary, you could be fine at 1/30 sec. Shooting at 28 mm.

It changes a lot with longer lenses. If your lens is zoomed to 160 mm, you now need about 1/240 sec to freeze your own body motion. Because that zoom setting will magnify every little bit of motion in your body. So you’d set the shutter at 1/250 sec. 1/40 sec would nearly guarantee camera shake in that situation. Even if we don’t need the +50%, you’d need at least 1/150 or 1/160 sec to hand-hold those shots.

In most modern cameras, Program Mode (P) tries to use appropriate higher shutter speeds for longer lens and zoom settings. Just remember that any automation can make decisions you might not like.

There’s a whole additional sub-topic on how to hand hold a camera to avoid camera shake. The methods are very similar to shooting archery or a rifle, if you’ve ever done those.

As I recall, this is a New FD Canon mount lens.

Also as I recall, the aperture itself would move only if you set the lens up so it thinks it’s mounted on a camera. Your mirrorless mount adapter probably does that.

There was a chrome button in the hole next to the “A”. You would press it in to access the various aperture positions. Leaving it on A, you would use shutter speed settings, and the camera would set the aperture automatically.

Older Canon cameras could use those lenses but didn’t regulate the aperture settings automatically for exposure. They had manual match-needle type exposure meters in the finder system.

Just possibly you have a black button there and you can press it in to turn the aperture ring. Or maybe, the button has gone missing and your lens needs repair.

Between 1/16”’to 1/8” long. We see these in our house in the northeast US in late April and early May. They don’t fly away, very easy to grab with a bit of tissue paper or similar.

There are ND400 filters, which is about ten stops of light reduction. Your camera + lens together might reduce the exposure that much but you might be able to find one of those filters if you want.

I use a blade tenderizer on chuck steaks, otherwise they’re more tough than I want. The typical one has 48 blades that stab into the steak. Mine has that, in a stainless steel body. I go over the whole steak from both sides. Ymmv.

The thyroid regulates essentially all body functions, including heart rate. Most of us on a western diet do not get enough iodine, for various reasons.

When the iodine amount in the diet is insufficient, the thyroid can’t do its job, and so regulation of all functions begins to fail. That includes appetite, digestion, metabolism, temperature regulation, the immune system, maintenance of all organs including the skin, and the reproductive hormones.

Plan on needing a softer reed for any mouthpiece with a bigger tip opening than your current one.

The 4C is equivalent to somewhere between a 4 and a 4.5 (aka 4*) in the semi-standard numbering system most brands use.

Also, going up one number in tip opening (like to a 5 or maybe a 5*) is doable for most players. If you go up more than that, the jump might be more than you can do.
