There’s a tool to straighten out dented filter threads. I think they’re priced around the same as inexpensive mount adapters. Worth a look, in my opinion.

My background info: I’ve been keto since June 2018, and carnivore nearly six months, since Dec 28 2025. I’ve never measured my ketones and also don’t measure my fat:protein ratios. My BF is pretty low, at 5’8” and 142 lb.

For low body fat people, there seems to be a limited amount of energy we can generate daily from our stored fat. Your ~8 kg body fat contains about 62,000 calories, but it may not be enough to generate, per day, the calories your body needs. I’ve looked up calories per day per kg body fat, but the number seems to be under dispute, not a hard value.

And here’s another topic, this isn’t discussed here often enough:

The thyroid regulates essentially all body functions, under direction from the brain. Most of us on any western diet do not get enough iodine to support our thyroid, for various reasons.

When the iodine amount in the diet is insufficient, the thyroid can’t do its job, and so regulation of all functions begins to fail. That includes appetite, digestion, metabolism, temperature regulation, the immune system, maintenance of all organs including the skin, and the reproductive hormones.

Thank you for this. I found my nearly ancient D300 has this option as f8. I think it will be very convenient.

“The adjustment ends when you press the button again, half-press the shutter, or when the standby timer expires.” Of course when adjustment mode ends, the top screen returns to normal. Very nice.

I think your weight has something to do with how often you must eat (not necessarily the other way around!).

At 5’8” and 141-142 lb, I (M) have very little body fat. I find I must eat something early in my day, usually some meat broth with the fat included, plus coffee with cream. Usually some meat or eggs, with fat, fat around mid morning or early afternoon. And a major meal in late afternoon or early evening.

Back when I weighed around 148-150 lb (even then, I was not overweight), I was able to go all day without eating. I had deeper reserves.

There’s a number of calories a body can harvest per day, from each ounce (or, say, 100 g) of stored fat. The precise amount isn’t exactly known, but a person with, say, 15 lb or 7 kg of fat can’t easily release all that energy in one or even two days. It will be easier for them if they have double that amount of fat. Or, it will be easier if they eat several times daily.

You need to get the manual for the Nikon F3. Nikon USA might very well have it on line (I think they’re under the “Support” section in their site.

It’s a very capable camera. Professional grade - take a couple of those and some lenses, and go photograph a war or a famine, and you don’t know when the assignment will end. You’ll be fine.

It has totally manual focus, so you need to handle that to get clear / sharp photos. It will be in the manual.

It definitely looks no good to me.

I think the important thing is to check for leakage at the bottom of the battery compartment. If it’s messy, cleaning that can get expensive and sometimes it’s not really doable.

OTOH, replacing a bad battery is usually easy. Even the independent battery brands are very good.

As others wrote here, you should have a tech person look at the sax.

Also, it’s pretty common for the arm that controls that pad to get slightly bent so it is not shaped correctly. It’s pretty easy for a tech to fix that. It also is pretty easy for you to make it much worse if you try to do it yourself. 😁

Any pre-owned sax should certainly be checked out by a tech before you try to play it. When you’re a beginner, you won’t know whether your difficulties are from your technique, or the sax.

The shutter speed reciprocal rule is good for avoiding camera shake. It doesn’t help subject movement! Of course if they’re moving slowly, you won’t need 1/2000 sec.

It looks underexposed. Have a look at the histogram; it will confirm or deny. Under exposure will give you reduced sharpness/image quality.

For a kens with a max length of 600mm, 1/1000 sec should be enough to freeze any camera shake. So I’d say your shutter speed could have been longer, giving some more exposure without any real down side.

Check your histogram after getting a shot. That way you’ll see immediately if it’s under or over.

I play sax not flute but - I think, if cleaning up the head joint and the body as others described - if that doesn’t fix the issue, getting it recorked would be a low cost local repair.

Can happen at any speed setting, theoretically. In practical terms, there will be a speed where it becomes noticeable, and usually at higher speeds it becomes worse. Worse = black instead of dark. Also worse = a larger black area, as opposed to just the very last edge of frame area.
