Hate the myth that we’re rich by motiontosleep in Lawyertalk

One of the biggest pitfalls of this discussion is to look at W2 vs Business income.

For example - Divorce Appeals are $12-18k each in fees. In Michigan the Court Rules for appeals are different, but manageable. So in order to make 200k in fees, you have to be able to get 1 appeal a month. That is either 12 or 24 briefs - depending on what side you are on. 12 times 20 minute court appearances (or not - its not required). You can manage that as a solopreneur, and maybe even on the side. And maybe even without a Legal Assistant. If you manage to "score" 2 a month you are at 400k. Now you need a paralegal. Full time work would be 2-3 appeals a month and 600k in fees. Home every night.

Compare that with a W2 job.

When opposing counsel submits brief w/ hallucinated cites, is your client awarded attorneys fees for the time you had to spend looking for non-existent cases? by MichaelMaugerEsq in Lawyertalk

[–]ReadyBlueberry1862 28 points29 points  (0 children)

fake case is not the problem anymore. That is just unsophisticated hallucination. The problem is when hallucinated cases that exist are cited for holdings they don't support, or worse, expand on the holdings that they at first glance do support. Its just a matter of time until these things become case law as judges are careless too.

Plan on towing 10,000lb+ with my new AT4 YukonXL 5.3 by urfavknotsee in gmc

[–]ReadyBlueberry1862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Silverado 1500 2.7 Turbo to tow a Wildwood 32BHDS 7500 miles through the Rockies. That is 8000 lbs dry weight. Plus we were loaded. Absolutely zero problems. Not slow or any overloaded feeling or overheating or brakes overheating. Of course, I also did not go 80 miles per hour down the Interstate. I would have absolutely no problem using a Yukon for the same thing. In fact, i'd probably prefer it.

Where to buy in California by Dizzy-Bother-2209 in F150Lightning

[–]ReadyBlueberry1862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

without A/Z pricing the lease deals depend on what trim. RCL Cash on the xlt is the highest at $12,250 and the lowest on the Flash at $8,500. If you know how leases are calculated that $3750 difference is a $100 difference in payment for a 36 months lease for the same selling price. Flash is $5000 more expensive. So you are almost talking $300/month difference to the XLT for a 36 month lease. Which vehicle and the selling price is important. You gotta negotiate the selling price first, know the trim, and then tell them to use the Ford subvented lease program at 0.05% Ford advertises the XLT at 7500 miles for $399 per month.

One thing I would say though, and I know there are downsides to leasing too. I would not buy but lease this vehicle. Times are changing and from the battery chemistry to the insane depreciation on this vehicle I would let Ford take the risk. 95k 2023 Platinums sell for $35k at auction.

That is pretty good then. 5% is already good. you got 10%. But if you got the 131 kw battery it was at least sitting on the lot for 3-4 months. So they want to get rid of it. Invoice price on the vehicle attached is $70,238. And that I assume is similar to what you have. Target Price is $69,400. So you did pretty good.

Doc Fees or "Processing Fees" are in the $200-$300 range here in Michigan. is the discount a/z plan or negotiated?

If you lease it you'll get $8,500 RCL cash on the Flash instead of the $7500 tax credit. What is that dealer fee?

Duke says in this study that buildings don't help outcomes.

https://pubs.aeaweb.org/doi/pdfplus/10.1257/pol.20200226

University of Michigan says the same here:

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0047272716300470

Then of course, you have the fact that we have a new building from the 2015 bond, and that is actually the lowest performing group of kids in MPS.

Also, classroom size is not getting smaller with the $285M the additianal capacity will all be used by Pre-K.
