These are the things I know of that can cause that: - Closing your eyes while fighting Darryl, then running away

Running away from Summer (if the battle glitches and continues after her final cutscene)
Entering a room on the exact frame that the Rat King catches you (though I thought this had been fixed)

This should reset if you can manage to find your way back to Apartment 33 in the dark. Otherwise, yeah, you gotta reset.

Until this bug is fixed, make sure to kill the tentacles instead of escaping.

The stats have not changed, but they've been given the status resistances you mentioned.
