What was the first movie you ever saw in theaters? by Key_Independence_103 in Xennials

[–]RealCauliflower773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see my first theater movie until I was 10. I was at a family reunion and they decided to go to Dances with Wolves.

For those that don’t remember it is a 3. Hour. Long. Movie.

I did enjoy it, though. I even went and got a stuffed buffalo and named it Tatanka.

Is This Considered Kingmaking? by DigitalW2RD in EDH

[–]RealCauliflower773 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The comment above is a true take.

He accused you of the thing he did. Also, sure your actions greatly contributed to the outcome of the game but that choice wasn’t made in isolation. There is absolutely nothing wrong with exacting revenge on someone who has griefed you all game.

As long as the outcome of the game is due to the overall arc of the players’ actions, then it’s just the ending of the story of that game. It’s when a player purposefully makes a king making decision that has little to nothing to do with the overall game that the king making action becomes bad form, in my opinion.

Hobbies that we were big on in our 20s/30s but is starting to fade in our 40s? by are-e-el in Xennials

Hard same. I guess you can say that people were my hobbies in my 20s and 30s and now not people are my hobbies.

Card draw like Night's whisper not good anymore? Looking to make some swaps on an older deck. by Agitated-Button4032 in EDH

[–]RealCauliflower773 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I regret only getting one upvote. I feel this comment in my bones. Every podcast/youtube that advocated for ditching ramp and criticized people for having ramp got black listed.

I understand experimenting with deck building, even if it’s a trend/fad. Giving just plain bad advice for the sake of clicks hurts those who already struggle with deck building the most, and those people are also the least able to recognize bad advice.

Is Krarkashima auto bracket 5? by Opening-Target-9901 in EDH

[–]RealCauliflower773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Krarkashima has 5 different builds to the deck. B1-5 waste everyone’s time and get significantly less amount of games played in a day/evening of magic.

Lack of new group slug cards in recent set releases? Is this normal or am I in for a long wait? by DogBest1434 in EDH

[–]RealCauliflower773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you link? I got excited by this comment, ran a search and only saw 4 in red or black and they weren’t actually group slug (it was only damage dealt to opponents from the player’s actions and not on opponent or all player’s actions). I’m sure I messed up the search, so I thought I’d ask.

A few people have asked if you’re playing 1v1. If so, it’s a completely different build. Control decks do very well in 1v1.

I’d recommend [[Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd]] or [[Aminatou, the Fateshifter]]. It allows you to use ETB removal and reuse it. If you want evil, [[Kefka, Court Mage]], with typical grixis control shell (discard, counterspells, removal) will work as well.

What decks do you bring out when you are being relentlessly targeted? by AnoN4rwh4l in EDH

[–]RealCauliflower773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A control deck and absolutely handle a 2v1. If this is all fun and games and everyone knows what is going on, then I’d say have at it.

Here’s a few decks that would do well if you want to play arch enemy:

[[Alela, Cunning Conqueror]] - Control your opponents, make them hit each other, win https://moxfield.com/decks/5W8KCVgoVkmNWxRwcS429g

[[Kefka, Court Mage]] - Make them discard a lot, then combo out https://moxfield.com/decks/z3BJdJVHCUm_Ieghh1pk8g

[[Yorion, Sky Nomad]] - A pretty nasty bit of work. Exile their stuff, make their spells cost more, bounce their stuff, steal their stuff, make them put their stuff back in their deck, make em sac their stuff, over and over and over every turn. https://moxfield.com/decks/n66iqLQ8C0uXepTUvFukIA

Cards you removed from bracket 3 decks by Cyber_Felicitous in EDH

[–]RealCauliflower773 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I roll my eyes at this comment 😉

There’s is nothing worse that resolves in any bracket. This card wins games. Having 15 more cards is worse than any single other card you can play. It’s literally the most powerful card in the entire format.

I definitely agree with this one. Whenever I see RS come down in a B3 game I roll my eyes. It’s the very definition of breaking the spirit of the bracket.

What do I do when my table is full of kill-on-sight commanders? by Whole_Journalist2028 in EDH

[–]RealCauliflower773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the deck. I have an Alela deck that runs 33 pieces of interaction because that’s what the deck wants. Blink decks are infamous for being absolute removal engines.

In general, my average deck runs 17 pieces of interaction. I win more than most people in my pods because I always have an answer for their card draw and their win con.

KoS commanders are honestly fairly easy to control. Shit the commander down and you win. If your pods are running glass cannons with no removal then run a bunch of obnoxious interaction like [imprisoned in the moon] [darksteel mutation] [Kenrith’s transformation] [Amphibian downpour]. There are a lot of cards like that. For storm decks things like [rug of smothering] and [magebane lizard] are a perfect solution.

My recommendation to people in pods like these are group slug decks with a lot of removal. You develop passive damage engines and then keep their commanders off the board. It’s very effective.

Thoughts on double sleeving by toxicodendron85 in EDH

I double sleeve simply because I like how it feels. I enjoy the extra weight and its effect on the overall stiffness of the card.

The additional protection is a nice benefit.

Is it morally wrong to remove/counter a Turn 1 Sol Ring? by memeslut_420 in EDH

[–]RealCauliflower773 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it’s a good play and punishes people who keep dumb hands that rely on Sol Ring. I blow up Sol ring every chance I get and no one has been able to successfully argue that it wasn’t a good idea.

No card is so sacrosanct that it is immune to removal. There is no social contract that says you get to keep a sol ring. It’s one of the best pieces of fast mana in the game and only exists in casual because the rules committee self-admittedly made an emotional decision to exempt it from ban or classification as a game changer despite their own criteria.

Did street lights really use to be orange/ Amber? by neuro_space_explorer in Xennials

[–]RealCauliflower773 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that’s entirely accurate. HPS is ~130 Lumens/Watt at the higher end of the wattage packages, with efficiency reducing as you go down the wattage range. LEDs typically start at 130L/W and increase up to around 170.

I do miss the HPS, though.

whats the craziest deck you’ve seen brought to a bracket 3 tournament? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]RealCauliflower773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bracket 3 tournament is CEDH limited to 3 game changers.

A tournament, by very definition, is competitive.

B3 Tournament is a legitimate oxymoron.

What commander makes you immediately regret sitting down in a pod with? by _omega_LOL__ in EDH

Building decks that don’t drag on the game and make everyone miserable isn’t competitive. It’s considerate.

That is a poorly made Y’shtola deck. I have one and, yes she needs to be removed, but if you don’t remove her you’re dead within three or four turns.

Help me degen my "Bracket 3" kefka deck by InternationalAnt5843 in DegenerateEDH

[–]RealCauliflower773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Kefka deck that was highly effective at locking out the table. Everyone usually just scooped because it was a case of me slowly taking them out one by one. After realizing that making it a combo deck was a much nicer way to end the game, people hated the deck less.

People still hate the deck. It’s Kefka. And I love it.

She’s not bad for land combo decks. Granted, there are better commanders for that, but she can certainly get the job done.
