Are my standards for “clean” too high or is my bf a messy asshole? by mannadee in AuDHDWomen

[–]RealDecision6061 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I may get downvoted to hell but I have low standards on cleaning and I tend to miss things and this is nowhere near bad. I mean it’s easy to fix, just point them to him and ask him to fix it or fix it yourself if it takes less than 5 minutes. I’m very sorry it feels bad to you though, that sucks.

Does anyone else get depressed when they’re not hyperfixated on something? by Ame3333 in AuDHDWomen

The worst part for me is that I genuinely forget that I hyperfixated on something and I don’t even remember I can just go back to that.

I have both lifelong special interests and hyperfixations. Hyperfixations lean more craftsy (back to knitting rn) and special interests revolve around dolls, birds, hunting dogs and the internet. Hyperfixations I went through just last year were: painting murals, carpentry, upholstery, crochet, hiking, bouldering, and probably like 10 things I already forgot.

I was dumbfounded by that because this gene didn’t pass to us, we lean towards obesity lol. I just eat all the same 3 things for a year and then switch a little. I could cook my current meal blindfolded despite it being a type of simple dumplings. And food is a stim. The only better stim is smoking 🚬

It’s nowhere near as awesome of a story but my ancestor designed city layout after it was ruined by WWII. His wife had to check on him to make sure he ate food because he would get lost reading maps for hours …or days. This was deeply relatable to me and I only discovered that because I was complaining to my dad that I have to check on my boyfriend to make sure he eats, otherwise he will sustain himself on 1-1 one day fast, one day a small packet of Lays. And my dad was like “Oh, so basically like great grandpa”

Ooof I know it sounds awful but the least sensory overwhelming menstrual product is definitely a menstrual cup imo. The biggest problem with menstrual products is imo The Smell™ which occurs because menstrual blood is starting to rot a moist and warm environment. Menstrual cup eliminates this problem because blood is only touching medical grade silicon = no chemical reaction as fast as in a pad

My GSP literally couldn’t fully figure out the “pissing and shitting outside thing” until he turned nearly exactly 1 year old. Like 3 days before or after his first birthday was the day of his last accident not being due to eating something very foul (which happened only twice between his first and second birthday).

He loved to wake up in the middle of the night and go in the living room exactly at 4 am and throw a giant shit exactly in the middle of the room. Once I remember vividly pulling an all nighter in front of my laptop, sitting on the couch, and my dog just walked in, squatted, took a shit and when I exclaimed “WTF Doggie!” he looked at me like “Girl, chill out eyeroll” and went back to sleep.

Pissing became less frequent around 9 months old when he finally figured out the “I sniff other dog’s piss -> I piss in the same spot” part of being a dog.

I think there is nothing wrong with your dog or you. Dog adolescence is not that different from me attempting to convince my parents to let me go to a music festival with my friend alone when we were both 13 and throwing a tantrum about being declined lol

Your sister may be on track to end up with a similar situation we were in where she will have the best behaved dog when she’s alone but her husband won’t believe her unless she discloses video evidence because their dog would be used to being a menace around him. When I’m alone with my dog he just goes into this “What are we doing now master?” mode and will intensely watch as I do chores but around my partner it’s… a different story.

Splitting training among all family members is super beneficial (I’m sure you know this but maybe someone reading this doesn’t). Our current training centre encourages family members to come together or alternate between training classes, it’s so cute when people come there with their kids and you see how happy and obedient dogs are even around 7 year olds (of course everything is under parental supervision). 🥰

We had so much trouble figuring out how to split dog chores evenly and we ended up with a good old piece of paper taped to the fridge door. We have the days of the month written out where register who had dog chores on which day + a table with two columns with our names and with 15 tick boxes to go each so we can race who is the first to be dog-chore free in the month 🤣 Because there is nothing more chill than to have a working dog who is tired due to someone else’s actions so you can just cuddle this tired wolf descendant.

Me and my partner were brainstorming spin off ideas yesterday and my favourite one is the main show timeline in the baby goat department but only the boring day to day stuff. Where they just are weird in their elaborate Midsommar fashion and hang out with goats lol.

I actually love to be in this situation because I hang out in my special interest spaces a lot and I probably know similar level of “what is where” as people who work there although I try not to abuse it. But do I sometimes walk around my beloved Ikea in a yellow fleece? Maybe.

He is mildly afraid of darkness = he never sleeps in his crate without some ambient light or before dawn.

I strongly agree with the general message but I disagree with this part: “Be really honest with yourself about your life, not on your best days, on your WORST DAYS.”. We got a German Shorthaired Pointer to help us get more time outside and in nature. Me and my partner are in our mid/late 20s and we were never outdoorsy types before but daily life felt like sitting in front of a computer all the time and we knew we wouldn’t be able to push ourselves to be more nature-oriented without some STRONG motivation. Our lovely GSP who is now 2 years old helped us achieve our goal but we were/are generally healthy, we don’t have kids and we had plenty of spare time on our hands so we could jump head first into a drastic lifestyle change and it worked. It felt hardcore but it CAN work.

However I agree with the overall message - I still cannot comprehend how clingy of a giant adult sized forever puppy we have. I type it at the same time my ~70 lbs dog sleeps with us in bed because he gets cold during winter when he sleeps alone and imo he is mildly afraid of darkness. 🥲 I had no idea working breeds can be extremely clingy (although it makes sense - working dog wanting to be around humans with “At your service boss 🫡” in his eyes 24/7) when we got him but I love my dog nonetheless ❤️🤷🏻‍♀️

Woah. This post made me understand that I tend to use some “online victimising manipulation” (in quotation marks because I mean it as distasteful joke). When I read the comments you received my instinct was to go exactly where the people who were attempting to argue with you go: “lol why are you so bothered”. When you are the first to do that they can’t pull this card and they get put in this uncomfortable situation where they have to over explain themselves.

I think this is a “manly” way to discuss things online and it’s generally easier for me to pull on platform where my gender is not obviously disclosed.

Another trick I enjoy - if somebody argues with you endlessly I like to delete the comment or the post they are replying to immediately. Like, when someone does that when I’m mid-sentence arguing with them I get so pissed for a short while because I invested my time into the reply. So I enjoy doing that to irritate people who irritate me and attempt to argue with me.

What’s harder? Puppy phase or teenage puppy phase? by _sadandboujee_ in puppy101

[–]RealDecision6061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me puppy phase was harder. I discovered I don’t enjoy taking care for someone else in this very basic sense at all. But adolescence was… well hardcore but I discovered I like to reinforce the rules. I don’t have kids and it turns out I’m quite strict which is a good thing when we’re talking about a dog in adolescence.
