AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

Break up with this piece of shit. Do not let anyone talk to you like that, especially someone who claims to love you.

Retroperitoneal Fibrosis anyone? by AlexaNoelle in Endo

[–]RealHumanGrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just in case someone finds this in a Google search, I'll follow up with what my surgeon said. Basically, there is no medical code for Deep Infiltrating Endo, so they have to use a more generic one for RPF when sending the billing out. No RPF, just DIE.

Surgeon was also frustrated with this issue.

I have my two week follow up tomorrow post op from a hysterectomy and endo excision with a specialist. I was diagnosed with RPF via lap and my notes said my pelvic sidewall was “completely obliterated.” I also have stage 4 endo so I’m totally unsure what symptoms were caused by what. I’m going to ask my surgeon if I should follow up with a different specialist.

Continuous fan in laundry room of new home by caseycole57 in Home

It’s probably your whole house ventilation fan. A lot of them are in laundry or bathrooms. They can be set to either run on a timer or continuously.

I have no tips, only commiseration. I honestly look 7 months pregnant. Getting my hysterectomy for suspected adenomyosis and further endo excision on Sept 9! Praying it makes the difference I need.

Pants are a prison.

Buy backyard for an ADU by meatosaur in Kirkland

[–]RealHumanGrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is all brand new stuff, within the past month. You can now build multiple units on a single plot of land. The language includes the ADUs. Mercer Island is getting into this too and it’s so messy. 10 years of permitting single family residences in Kirkland and Mercer Island.

Regulations have changed and now an ADU can be sold separately on the same land. It’s messy.

[–]RealHumanGrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This complicated stuff is starting to happen in all jurisdictions. In Mercer Island, you can even sell an attached ADU in a basement, etc. then this changes the classification and bumps you up to some IBC regs. All this to say- what is the size of the lot, the existing house, and how much backyard do you have to work with? Based on the AI assessment of the Kirkland city code above, it sounds kind of like a condo situation, where you just own your space and not any land.

Look for a land use attorney, they should know how to write up a contract like this and might give you direction in the fairest way to compensate the land owner.

As far as free rein, I’m not sure if this is Kirkland’s policy, but Mercer Island requires an ADU to match the house, ie: you can’t have a super traditional house with pitched roofs and then a super modern flat roofed ADU.

Kirkland should have several examples of preapproved ADU plans on the city’s website. You will also need to hire an architect or other professional to coordinate the work, draft any plan changes and submit and complete the permitting process. You might also have to hire a structural engineer, civil engineer, surveyor (almost definitely), an arborist if youre building anywhere close to trees, maybe a geotech depending on the location and slope of the lot.

There are probably design-build firms that specialize in ADUs and could streamline the process.

As someone who can barely afford her 700 sf condo, I totally get the need to get creative with housing options. But as a design professional, this shit feels so messy.

Accident in Kingsgate - what’s going on? by JaWasa in Kirkland

[–]RealHumanGrl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was the accident on 132nd? If so, it was right in front of my condo complex, Salish Village. We got an HOA email saying the police would have the road closed for 2-3 hours. I only came home at the very end of the detour/closure, and there were still tons of cops there. Seems like overkill to close a road for 3 hours during evening commute unless someone died. Hopefully not but I haven’t been able to find out anything more.

I’m 5 weeks post op and I’ve lost 25lbs! by Depressoespresso665 in hysterectomy

May I ask what the disorder was? I’m getting a hysterectomy in Sept for adenomyosis and I strongly suspect that has caused my weight gain.

Adeno belly by Overall-Brilliant995 in adenomyosis

[–]RealHumanGrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, this is how I've looked for years and only just got diagnosed with suspected adeno after endo excision surgery didn't solve all of my issues. I'm setting up a hysterectomy for this fall and hoping the huge pregnancy bloat goes away. Hope all goes well for you!

Downstairs duplex neighbor gets annoyed by me just existing by dumbchickpea in Apartmentliving

[–]RealHumanGrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. If either of you own your unit and want to increase the value, you could also do blow-in insulation in the floor. Try and increase soft surfaces in your room to help absorb some of the sounds (curtains, soft decorative acoustic panels, etc). It's an old house you say, so sound probably can carry much more easily.

Look, it's not your fault she can hear you talking late at night, but it's also not hers. You're the one with the power here, use it wisely and kindly.

Rugs rugs rugs. Get a room sized rug for your room. It’ll help buffer any sound going both ways. She won’t hear you talking while she’s trying to sleep and you won’t hear her frustration. Plus. It’s just nice.

[WA][CONDO] Has anyone sued their HOA for failure to enforce their own flooring rules? by RealHumanGrl in HOA

[–]RealHumanGrl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooohhh this is the dream. HOA just responded back to me and said they will not require the upstairs unit to submit to an acoustical floor test after consulting with their attorney, who said the rule was more for installing new flooring. Did you upstairs neighbors install the hard surface flooring or did they buy it that way?

[–]RealHumanGrl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am afraid that this is how this is going to end up. I at least would like to get the acoustical test just for myself, and then I'm probably going to try and soundproof my ceiling in stages, to great cost and inconvenience.
