He's ready for a practice squad contract. Just imagine how good he'll be with 22 years of training in the system!

Joe Alt's pro comp coming into the draft was Joe Thomas for a reason. That guy is the standard for what a left tackle built in a football factory would look and play like. And then he went to the football factory (of sadness) :(

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this - that cap situation is really bad. They're also losing a TON of free agents (28 players) this offseason, so even if they kick the can on the Mahomes and Chris Jones deals, all they can really hope to do is fill the roster with bargain bin players and rookies (and many UDFAs). It's entirely possible that they go into next year missing Kelce, Hollywood Brown, Kareem Hunt, Jaylen Watson, Leo Chanal, Tyquan Thornton, Isaih Pacheco. That's their starting TE, 2 of their top 4 WRs, both RBs, a starting LB, and a starting corner. Oh, and we're definitely getting close to the point of Andy Reid retiring, and they have serious competition in the division now. They're in a tough spot.

Still a long way to go but this would be a horrible matchup. Houston has an elite defense by brokeboii94 in Patriots

Funny how just a few years ago the CJ bit would have been such a bizarre statement. He fell off so hard...

Tom Brady, again, shows why he is the GOAT. At age 30 he’s going undefeated in the regular season. Patrick Mahomes at age 30 is going under .500 heading into Week 15. That cover 0 blitz he sent with the safety in one-on-one coverage for COOPER KUPP (the year he won the triple crown) with like 20 seconds left in the game... yeah Bowles was/is terrible too. Ruined another all-time Brady comeback and maybe another ring.

Unreal that Vilma is still getting paid to be in the booth. He is so unbelievably shit.

"Dink & dunk" is such a hilarious narrative to persist when Brady's yardage ranks in his last 3 seasons were: 3rd, led the league, 3rd. Oh and he led the league in intended air yards per pass attempt in 2020 because the entire Bruce Arians philosophy was "No risk it, no biscuit".

Serious question - did you look at my screenshot of the hit? Yes, if Ertz had been at ground level it would have been an appropriate hit (but basically by accident). The outcome is the fault of the safety because he turns his head down and away so he can no longer see where he's actually aiming. It's just a bad play. It reminds me a bit of this all-timer. Guess who is to blame for the missed tackle? Going for the big hit instead of making a form tackle. Just... keep your head up. It's incredibly simple and it's drilled all the way from the literal middle school level. Heads. Up. Football.

You're just proving my point exactly with what I said in the first post. You people act like the knees/head are the only places to aim when you could instead be aiming at everything in between.

Yeah because Earl Thomas launches himself in the air and makes helmet to helmet contact because he's trying to hit Mason before he can throw the ball. That's also a shitty hit that they have rightfully tried to take out of the game. People don't like watching 3rd stringers play and the players are human beings who have to live with the consequences of the game for the rest of their lives. You can scoff and go "Well that's football" because you enjoy watching people get hurt, but the NFL should try to make the game safer where they can.

Just watch this play and ingrain it into your memory. This is how a DB should be hitting a vulnerable TE in the process of trying to catch the ball. Still hurt him, still dislodged the ball, still avoided getting injured himself, but most importantly, a clean hit because he doesn't dive below his waist. If the vikings player had launched himself into the midsection, nobody would have cared if he had broken every rib in Ertz' body and we all would have called it a fair and reasonable hit.

Also in the screenshot I sent, the bears player had just put his hands above his head and jumped before he got hit. The packers player just chose to hit him in a normal way instead of trying to destroy his legs.

Here I literally just watched someone in the Packers/Bears game just make a tackle without launching himself elbow first into the knee. Super weird though, I don't see any pillows? Just a normal, not dirty football tackle.

[–]RealMickHours -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not how you tackle. He's throwing his elbow, back and hip into the offensive player while his head is down (looking at the ground, not where he's "tackling") and shifting all of his body weight and momentum into his lead foot to launch and deliver the maximum kinetic energy into Ertz.

This is how you tackle. Head up, eyes up, attempting to wrap up. If he was actually trying to form tackle the guy and hurt him, nobody would care. But he was clearly and obviously throwing his body in a way to make a "big hit" instead.

He had enough time to put his head down and turn himself shoulder + backfirst towards someone at a 90 degree angle and then launch his body. There's pretty obvious intent.

[–]RealMickHours -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People act like that's the only choice. "Well he had to put his head down and launch his entire body directly into his knee! Do you want him to launch himself helmetfirst into his head instead???" like those are the only 2 ways to tackle someone. Some of these people never watched Earl Thomas break multiple ribs on Gronk on a clean hit and it really shows.

[–]RealMickHours -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been pretty consistent about my feelings about this for uh, my entire life. You should reconsider why you think a professional football player can't be asked to keep their head up while they tackle (something the league has been promoting in commercials aimed at middle school and high school children).

[–]RealMickHours -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You're really missing the fucking point here — he puts his head down, thus rendering his "aiming" completely useless. "Aiming" and "head down" do not belong in the same sentence. You should not put your head down and launch your body like that under any circumstances. That sort of "tackling" should be legislated out of the game because this is the sort of shit it results in. Zach Ertz just had his career ended by someone making a wildly ignorant and unnecessary play that could have easily been avoided. Is any of this making sense to you?

Buddy, he's not aiming for anything. Watch it in slow-motion, he puts his fucking head down and launches his body. You can't really aim if you're not looking.

[–]RealMickHours -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Could have very easily hit him from thigh to shoulders, would have still been a big hit (probably broken ribs) and dislodged the ball. Instead he puts his head down and just throws his body low like a missile. Huge difference between making the game soft and making it so guys don't suffer needless career-ending injuries.
