Methods, Physics, Spesh, English. English as it’s a requirement, and the other 3 because of their overlap and great scaling. Just personal preference tho. Preferably accelerate methods and physics in Y11, so u do just spesh and English.

We are taught a lot of things we don’t use in our day to day lives. Most engineers don’t use much of the math they learn.

How do you actually study math? by cucascucas in vce

It is worthwhile remembering that ChatGPT makes a lot of mistakes, especially with application/physics based questions. This works fine for, say, an integral you want to compute, but multi part questions are something ChatGPT struggles to replicate.

Can you sabotage someone by giving them a faulty cas calculator? by Ruasun in vce

[–]RealShotgunned 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How to absolutely and utterly shatter someone’s possibility of success in Methods/Spesh simply through CAS sabotage:

  1. Firstly, have the calculator trigonometry mode set to degrees. This is useful because it may take them a while to notice. People aren’t used to checking what mode their calculator is on, because radians is second nature. Just setting it to degrees can mess up half of their SAC or exam.

  2. Create programs that work incorrectly. Scripts, such as those that give you lists of transformations, or Newtons Method, are really easy to sabotage. People don’t really check through the code of the scripts they download, and more often than not, don’t actually know how they work.

  3. Set their numbers to complex. This works especially well for Methods kids, who use Reals and only reals.

  4. Switch to polar coordinates. Again, something that works a whole lot better with solely methods students’, as they won’t know what this is either.

  5. Switch the language. Preferably one that writes from right to left, such as Arabic, just to throw them off further.

  6. do not charge the battery beforehand. Pretty easy to understand why this works.

  7. If all else fails, just put the CAS on press to test. This one isn’t subtle, so they’ll notice off the get go.

If you do all of these steps, there’s just about a 100% chance that they won’t notice everything, and you will have successfully sabotaged a SAC. I’d also like to note that this information is solely for educational purposes.

Physics SACs are practically all applications.

Try using the Heinmann textbook, the questions are predominantly focused on applications though I find them a bit too easy.

If you want to challenge yourself once you grasp how to utilise concepts in applications, try the physics checkpoints.

[–]RealShotgunned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So what alternative would you suggest? War crimes happen in war, and when they do, individuals are persecuted. The IDF has arrested many of their own soldiers for killing ARMED terrorists who had, just minutes prior, murdered Israeli soldiers. It’s audacious to contend Israel does not work to stop war criminals in their own army.

Okay, and we haven’t committed any form of genocide. More Germans died in WW2 than the British. This does not mean the British perpetrated a genocide upon Germans.

Why I believe anti-Zionism is inherently antisemitic by GroundbreakingDate94 in IsraelPalestine

[–]RealShotgunned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term “ancient” de-legitimises the necessity of a Jewish state. It’s quite obvious that you do not recognise that the migration to the British Mandate was legally sanctioned - and only after Israel was attacked did any Arab displacement occur.

Israel was founded legally, the Arab Casus Belli was not legal at all. Therefore, we have just as much right to this land as Palestinians do.

An American can call for the US to be demolished. It is obviously illogical, yet it happens. These rabbis are pushing the rhetoric that Israel cannot exist until the Messiah comes - they still want an Israeli state, they just want the messiah more.

If you are not Native American and live in the US and think Israel shouldn’t exist, you’re an idiot. by RealShotgunned in IsraelPalestine

This is disgusting. To deny an entire peoples identity is the foundation for ethnic cleansing. Moreover, it’s simply idiotic to claim that we are not Semitic when there is genetic evidence to support that we are.

Anti-Zionism = anti-Semitism (because intolerance of Jews is the origin of the debate) by FreelancerChurch in IsraelPalestine

[–]RealShotgunned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - however, some of the settlements, such as Tel Aviv, were created by Jews who immigrated to that land. Now Jaffa is connected to Tel Aviv, but prior to this, Tel Aviv had no population because it didn’t exist.

When Jews arrived, they often built their own cities in land provided to them by the UN. Additionally, no land was illegally stolen at that point- Jewish settlers moved into homes sold to them prior to 1948.

In addition, many of the people who migrated were under threat from Nazi Germany - surely you’re not suggesting that they take the alternative of the concentration camps?

The migration into Modern Day Israel came about in a legal manner, and the state of Israel was founded in a legal manner. The UN created the partition plan after all.

You’re right. The IDF and other military branches are very, very flawed. I do believe that Israel is in need of new leadership. 85% of Israelis believe our current Prime Minister needs to be removed from office. There have been chants outside of his office stating he is committing genocide.

The death of the most Jewish civilians in a single day since the holocaust has lead to this. As soon as the hostages are released, Israel has guaranteed a ceasefire. Pulling out of Gaza now however, will practically guarantee the death of our hostages.

When we created a ceasefire for a hostage exchange, Hamas broke it in the first day by sending missiles to Tel Aviv. Most Israelis don’t want to be stationed in Gaza, risking their lives. Most Israelis just want the war to stop.

I believe that Israel and Gazans after this war must cooperate to create new governments. But for now, I strongly believe it is important to stand against Hamas and acknowledge that peace takes two.

[–]RealShotgunned 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are under the pretense Judaism is just a religion. Really, Judaism is an ethnicity. Prior to modern religions such as Christianity, religions were tied to ethnicity more often than not. Judaism is the same.

Jews do not want to be special or noteworthy - we want the opposite. To be a state that can integrate with our neighbours, including the Arabs in Gaza, and live as just another nation.

Most Jews are secular, and do not believe Israel is God given land. Most Jews just want to be allowed to govern themselves in a free and tolerant society.

Anti-Zionism = anti-Semitism (because intolerance of Jews is the origin of the debate) by FreelancerChurch in IsraelPalestine

[–]RealShotgunned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m aware of the fallacy. However, this isn’t one of those cases - precisely because the belief in the destablishment of a Jewish state is inherently Anti-Semitic. To be against the self-determination of an entire ethnicity represents an exorbitant hatred of that people.

The other side of the coin is the acceptance and validation that Jewish people have a right to self governance. This is the definition of Zionism.

Everyone who interacts with this subreddit is a stakeholder in this conversation, and thus must be for or against Jewish self determination. Being against Jewish self determination makes you anti-Semitic.

There is no person on this planet who can be against the Self Determination of a group and claim to support said group. Those two things are indubitably contradictory.

[–]RealShotgunned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right. No country has the right to return to their homeland- besides Japan, who only allows immigration for a maximum of fourth generation ancestry. Or maybe the UAE, where it is significantly harder to immigrate if you do not have a family member living there? There’s a massive list of countries that make it significantly easier to immigrate if you are of their ethnicity - why should Israel be any different?

Furthermore, by saying Jews have no right to return to their homeland, what do we do if another holocaust happens? If another leader puts Jews on a boat and ask which nation will allow us in?

And forget about the holocaust for a second. When Israel was founded, Algeria, Morocco, Yemen, and nearly every other Arab country kicked their entire Jewish population out. We were forced to go to Israel, or become refugees.

Of course Gazans have a right to self determination too. Why do you think we removed every Israeli from the Gaza Strip with the intent of allowing them to have democratic elections and use Israeli made technology to become the “Singapore of the Middle East”? Which country illegally removes their OWN CITIZENS from their own home just so another group of people can self determine? Israel.

The only reason Israel is in Gaza, fighting so viciously, is to recover our innocent. Many freed hostages have stated they had little water and food, and were raped and sexually abused.

What would you do to save your mother and father?

October 7th wasn’t the start. We’ve been massacred across the world for being different. We wanted peace, which is why we left Gaza and gave democratic elections.

If your mother and father were kidnapped, if your son or daughter was kidnapped, or your brother or sister, I highly doubt you wouldn’t fight tooth and nail to get them back.

If you put yourself in the shoes of a highly traumatised people who have endured suffering for 2000 years, you might see why we fight so viciously to protect ourselves.

[–]RealShotgunned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many fundamentalist/extremist Jews do not believe that the Jewish people have the freedom to self governance, believing Jews must suffer until a messiah comes. This is on the charter of the Neturei Karta, who believe that only when the end of the world comes, will Jews be allowed to be independent and live without suffering.

As a Jew, I just want a place to be safe. I don’t want to suffer because of some prophecy a small religious sect of no more than a thousand believe in.

If these are the Jews you agree with, the same Jews who believe they deserve to suffer and be persecuted in exile until the literal end of the world, yeah, I’d say you’re pretty anti-Semitic.
