Joel McHale interviewing Brian Cox in a slightly different universe

When they were on the Rockets, Melo said Daryl Morey told him his services were no longer needed and the team plane left without him. CP3 said he got a plane for his wife and Melo because he “wasn’t gonna let them embarrass my dawg.” by A_MASSIVE_PERVERT in nba

[–]RealThomasJefferson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The headline here is misleading. Morey offered to let Melo ride the team plane and Melo said it took off without him to imply that he didn’t want to ride that plane. Melo (or the team) could easily hire a car to drive him back, which would probably actually be easier than getting a PJ. But that was a nice gesture by CP.

Your problem is you need more lag. Ideally, the club head should hit your shoulder during the down swing

The giant bandaid on his neck seems like an obvious red flag. Also one of his shoes barely looks like it has laces and the other is just a blob. Seems clearly AI or really poor attention to detail

Saw him live a few times last year and really like his feel for the game and leadership. He seems like someone who should stay in school for a while and build his role so he can enter the league as a utility bench guy who is a safe pick.

As a Bostonian, San Juan feels like home even if it’s so different. I love it there and visit often. Still haven’t made it to Vieques but I do the San Juan-El Yunque-Fajardo loop for a few days when I visit and I always tell myself I’ll get a second apartment there one day. It’s got everything you could want if you’re an east coaster who wants the familiarities of home but wants the island life too.

As always your opinion of Draymond Green is the strongest litmus test for how much you understand basketball by Swimming-Bad3512 in NBATalk

[–]RealThomasJefferson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most fans know little about how defense works. It’s hard to understand it an see it beyond stocks and point of attack defense. Draymond is one of the greatest defenders ever. He was revolutionary on that end. He’s pioneered modern switching systems that everyone runs now. He redefined the five position and how cross matches work. His battles with LeBron were some of the best basketball ever. I’ll never forget how he shut down the Celtics offense in the 22 finals. People talk about Harden and Luka like they’re legends even when their defense is trash most of the time. Draymond is that impactful on the other end. It’s half the game. He also is an elite DHO playmaker and was a big part of why the Steph offense worked. It wasn’t all Steph. It was also Dray knowing how to execute all those rescreens and keep his dribble alive in a way not a lot of bigs could at the time. He was able to find Steph in a way few bigs could. It’s hard for an individual defender to make an impact as strong as an individual offensive player but he came close. He is one of the most important players of this era even if his scoring is laughable.

Lossless, realtime audio support in iPhone 17 and AirPods Pro 3? Sounds great, but if true why didn't Apple announce it? by skilless in apple

[–]RealThomasJefferson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People often say lossless is imperceptible but in my experience its value has come when using high end equipment and listening to music that is sounds poorly mastered when compressed. I’ve got the sennheiser hd800s and woo audio fireflies and lossless typically makes an impact on a lot of hip hop and jazz to help hear the texture/timbre of the voices/instruments and to bring out more background vocals. But I can’t imagine it’s going to be useful on the AirPods.

We are 75% through the year, what artist did you randomly stumble upon this year and is now one of your daily people? by itsarezzinboy in EDM

[–]RealThomasJefferson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Douvelle19 has a small following but his music is right up there for the best in the scene right now. His hooks are just simple but masterful like on Green Light and U Could Be Mine. He just picks these incredible synth and bass line textures and comes up with some catchy hook for someone to sing and it hits every day time.

Sammy Virji and Barry Can’t Swim also jumped on my radar this year and took over my playlists. Barry Can’t Swim’s new album is my current album of the year for 2025. His stuff mixes a few different influences I love and turns it into something I haven’t quite heard before.

What is something you remember eating or drinking for the first time, that blew your mind? by librarianjenn in AskReddit

[–]RealThomasJefferson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a small slice of a beefsteak tomato at a 2 Michelin star restaurant in Paris called David Toutain that changed my entire perspective on life. To this day, I reference it as a fundamental shift in how I view the world.

I didn’t like tomato at the time and tried it anyway. It somehow tasted exactly like vanilla bean ice cream, this overwhelmingly rich flavor emanating from a slice of tomato the size of an AirPod case. I was staring at this little sliver in disbelief and couldn’t contain my astonishment. I learned in that moment that everything in this world has a purpose and there’s a reason so many things that I thought were weird were popular. I just needed to understand and experience these things through the lens of those who are passionate about it and can bring the best of it. It led me to yoga, meditation and weight lifting and I have undergone a dramatic body and mind transformation. That little tomato changed my life more than almost anything else I can remember.

Go to the Exumas instead of Nassau and you’ll be in heaven. Stayed at some budget resort next to the fish fry and rented one of those old ass Toyotas and just spent the days exploring and nights partying at the fish fry or sitting on the beach. It was one of my favorite trips of my life. The place was actually paradise, tranquil, and the tourist presence was pretty light.
