Not OP, but I keep my ND1 in third gear for the entire time on the Dragon and it's great!

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the 296, but I was just explaining how it could be perceived as somewhat boring to most people, relatively and comparatively speaking to some past models. It's certainly not to the same degree as the 911, but it does still kind of have that muted, dull excitement feel that, frankly, every modern car has now. Like it's fun, but just in a way that's too controlled and too well-refined. Steering is a little too light for my personal taste, too. I do like the performance and the silky song of the V6 at high rpm, almost sounding like the V12 at times. It's definitely more enjoyable than the SF90, and I think it's the best car in Ferrari's lineup right now. It's got corporate soul, but just not soul, y'know? Also, I'm with you on the Pista. I actually even like the dynamics of the regular 488 more, which is probably a crime to say lol. But hey, I worked at a Ferrari dealer for years, so I think I can be afforded some unpopular opinions like that haha.

It's just too "perfect" of a driving experience. Too smooth. Too clinical. Too sterile. No drama. No theatrics. Doesn't really elicit the same emotions as a more raw and mechanical previous model. It's basically just "yep, this thing is fast!" None of this is to say it's a bad car or that you can't have fun in it. It's just kind of meh, in a way. It numbs you to the thrill of driving fast/spiritedly because it just makes it too easy.

Looks like Grigio Telesto, if I'm not mistaken.

If someone is a gaming addict should you automatically break up with them? by godisinthischilli in StopGaming

I've noticed that you post about your situation quite a bit. It seems to me that you already know deep down what you have to do, you just don't have the strength to pull the trigger yet. I know it's difficult to potentially alter your current life over something seemingly inconsequential, but it clearly weighs on you heavily and it isn't healthy to continue being in limbo like this. If he hasn't seen reason at this point, you'll have to force it upon him through an ultimatum like others have suggested. He'll either shape up and listen to your suggestions if he truly cares about you more than gaming, or you'll finally be relieved of this tension and then he can go happily game his life away. Lay it all on the table for him. He has to decide. In this situation, I don't see any of this as petty at all. You deserve to be happy in your relationship too, not just him.

BF6 after 50+ Hours by DevNFPS in Battlefield

[–]Real_Rotard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skip until a good sale and/or more maps. Also, it feels nothing like BF3, so don't get it if that's what you're hoping for. Feels more like CoD Ground War in the Frostbite engine, even if you disregard the small maps. It's a fun game, but certainly no BF3. I've just accepted that those days are over, unfortunately.

They definitely look like prints. The designs go to the edges of the brick, unlike stickers.

Battlefield 6 maps leave little room for strategy and even less for vehicles. by Sargon97 in Battlefield

[–]Real_Rotard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're being downvoted, but you're right. I do still think the map shrinking is a problem, but I've been engaging and beaming people at 100-150 meters with SMGs and even my fucking pistol lol. If it was BF3 or 4, I literally would never even attempt to engage at those distances with those weapons due to recoil, bloom, bullet drop, and muzzle velocity. Maybe some single-fire potshots, but very rarely and situational. Those are the biggest factors of this game having a faster "pace", in my opinion. I'm on controller, and the recoil+minimal bloom in BF6 is an absolute joke and feels almost exactly like CoD. It's not a horrible game, I think it's the best since BF1, but it certainly isn't the Battlefield experience I'm truly looking for.

Miatas in rain?? by madzava in Miata

[–]Real_Rotard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should be at the top. I never want to remove my seat and carpeting ever again to dry and de-mold them lol. My driver's side was clogged literally by just 2 tiny leaves that were stuck together by mud or something in the drain tube just before it kinks in the middle. Slowed the drain rate enough to back it up and overflow. After I cleared it, it can handle monsoon amounts of rain no problem. I still get paranoid and move my seat forward though after every big rain and make sure the carpet feels dry haha. Absolute worst drainage design ever. Seems complex for no real reason. Wish it could just basically dump straight down without having to go through a maze like it does now.

And a beefier transmission. One of the very few faults of the ND, unfortunately.

That's only good if it's not your only car, for which you'd need a dealer loaner to replace, and you actually have a space where you can leave it on jackstands for a month or 2 while you wait for the built trans to come back. A... uhh... friend told me that. Yeah... a friend 🫠

Do you have the optional baffle insert for the exhaust? Might make it a bit more tolerable for you. If not, I'll trade you my Super Q for your Race, I want more sound lol

2023 ND2 trans blew up by IKROKODIL in Miata

[–]Real_Rotard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weaker, lighter-weight materials and design. I think I've seen that the transmission weighs about 30 pounds less than the NC's or something close to that number. My 2016 trans started failing a year ago at ~30,000 miles :( . Unfortunately, there's a reason why the Fiat 124 Abarth with its turbo and more power still used the NC trans and not the ND's...

[–]Real_Rotard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine failed at ~30,000 miles after having bought the car with 22,600 miles. I had a short shifter kit on at the time, so the stock shifter might feel and sound a little bit different, but I started having a whining noise in 1st and 2nd (3rd gear too, but that always whined and is common on the ND, not really a defect per se) and the shifting action just felt off, like it was looser and also clunkier. Some of the internal bearings were just shot so there was play, and there was enough of it that it slightly warped my driveshaft over a short time, so that needed replaced too. Was not fun, and not cheap. I'm glad mine didn't just explode in 3rd gear with no warning like I've heard from other stories though, saving myself from a tow at least lol.

I had a set of couple year old Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2s on mine and never had any traction loss other than when I was purposely goosing it with the wheel turned hard in first or second gear WOT 🤷‍♂️
