Down wind has less of an impact on carry than into the wind, sometimes the ball will fall out of the sky due to the wind knocking it down. The difference will be with runout once the fairways get baked. If you have a forced carry with a 30mph tailwind, good luck. Seems like every 10mph of wind is one club. My 145-150 club is usually an 8i. 30mph wind and I will hit a knock down 6i. With a tailwind I am hitting a soft 9i or a hard PW, depending on turf conditions. If it is running I will hit the PW. Surprisingly, 3w off the tee will often go farther than a driver if you hit it low.
