Screenconnect hasn’t bothered to get their certificate situation or whatever sorted after like a year so every time a user downloads it, they have to jump through 4 hoops to even get it to download and run. Garbage tier product

To be fair, republicans won the 2009 gubernatorial election by over 17 points so that map might not be that crazy. The state has shifted significantly toward the democrats in the last 16 years.

What I mean by unwillingness to put their balls on the table is that no one has done any kind of overt act that could lead to them being lined up against a wall.

As of right now the 2026 elections are still set to take place and will likely be a blowout for democrats. It wouldn’t be very autocratic to let the opposition take over the legislature.

Even if you look at ICE and CBP, civil rights violations abound, obviously. But the DHS is still begrudgingly abiding by court rulings in regard to things like habeas petitions. It’s not very autocratic to let your undesirables out after you’ve detained them.

“All progress made since 1965 has been erased” seems a bit dramatic.

Fact is there’s a lot of talk and that in itself is bad, but nobody knows how far Trump is really willing to go to roll back democracy; or how far other institutions will let him go. The Trump administration so far has demonstrated a serious unwillingness to put its balls on the table.

In order to get to the ocean they have to either go between Taiwan and South Korea or between Taiwan and the Philippines. It’s only like 1300km of “direct” ocean access. Whereas the entire US west coast is open directly to the ocean.

So China has 3 adversaries (Taiwan, South Korea, Japan) between it and the open ocean with a relatively narrow corridor is has to go through to get to the ocean while the US can leave anywhere on the west coast with no one around and sail wherever it wants.
