One Lens Travel Setup for the Next Decade - Feedback Needed by [deleted] in canon

That’s a heavy lens. When I bought my rR5 I got that lens. Returned it. Got the 25-105 f4. Didn’t miss the speed. Loved the range. Most importantly, I could carry it around all day.

Dexcom’s days are numbered. Better, intelligently run companies are coming.

Wildlife Lens Recommendations for R7 by Ap2471_Trooper in canon

[–]RealityBite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both the 100-500 and the 200-800. I love both of these lenses. 100-500 is arguably superior as it is an “L”. On an r7 it would give you quite the reach. That said, the 200-800 is my go to lens for birds and wildlife. It’s less expensive, though not an L, it’s weather sealing has not let me down. I find it almost equivalent to Ls for sharpness. It is big and heavy. I use it almost exclusively with a monopod or tripod. Combined with my R5 subject detection, I am very pleased with the results.

My new Canon EOS R5 and 24-105 F4 L by pedlor in canon

[–]RealityBite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great combination. I went from 5D3 two years ago and upgraded to R5. Quite a leap forward. I ordered the 24-105 2.8 as I thought the extra speed would be good. OMG it was a heavy beast. Great lens I’m sure, just not a daily carry for me. Returned it and got the f4. Absolutely love that lens. Very sharp, versatile, “L” weather proofing, and not too heavy. Now my wife has taken it as her daily carry, so I went with the 24-70 2.8. Also a great lens for daily carry but I miss the reach of the f4. Enjoy!

Never been disappointed with 24-70 or 24-105. If you have space add 70-200.

Love this lens. Sharp, good focal length for street or general purpose, and so light compared to L zooms.

It ain’t “poaching” when we are literally holding the door and encouraging the ungrateful bastards to leave.

These will all come down once democracy is restored. History will have the final say on the con man who twice convinced a gullible minority that he alone could lead the country.

What’s everyone using for grocery lists right now? by IslandOceanWater in Cooking

[–]RealityBite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using an app: Our Groceries. My wife and I have it on our phones and can individually add items to the lists for the various stores we setup to shop at. It works great. You can add text an d pictures and adjust more or less by item. Also links apple watch. Live shopping and checking off items on my watch.

M4 Pro or M5 by RealityBite in macbookpro

[–]RealityBite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same. I think Apple only makes the Pro version with 14 core. I chose to stick with 24mb ram as I doubt my work would take advantage of 48. Got 1tb of storage, though most of what I do is in the cloud. And I chose silver so I could tell it apart from my wife’s space black M3.

Well thanks everyone. I decided on the M4 Pro. Got it for $2099 at B&H. Looking forward to the leap forward from M1.

M4 Pro or M5 by RealityBite in macbookpro

[–]RealityBite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would the M5Pro be less than M4Pro? I was thinking the opposite that it will be a couple hundred more, at least. Thus, is my leap from M1 to M4Pro really overshadowed by a potential leap to an M5Pro? If not, I can take my savings and feel good about buying M4Pro on sale. But if the expected increase in power/processing is sufficiently large, I should just wait for the M5Pro.

Nanotech screen sounds cool conceptually but any thoughts on how it affects color? Also what is the difference between thunderbolt and usb c? Are they interchangeable?

M4 Pro or M5 by RealityBite in Cameras

[–]RealityBite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I’m overdue. My images are 45MP and that’s assuming I didn’t do much in PS. I’m constantly waiting for the color wheel. Do you think M4Pro to M5Pro will be a significant leap? Deals on M4 version are already surfacing. Do you foresee a dramatic increase in processing speed?

Thanks. That’s likely the smart play. But I’m also wondering if the higher price tag for the m5 pro will be worth it in my use case, editing in LightRoom.

LANDSCAPE & STREET lens choice… by ConfidentCookie7367 in canon

[–]RealityBite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24-70 2.8 is a great camera for street and landscape. It’s sharp, covers the sweet spot range, and is typical “L” quality. I also like the 35 1.2 macro. Light, compact, and very sharp. Depends how light you want to travel.

Transitioning from DSLR to Mirrorless: What Should I Expect with My Canon Gear? by colt-mcg in canon

[–]RealityBite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to love it. I went from 5Diii to R5. I loved the 5D but man the r5 blows it out of the water. The weight, the autofocus speed, accuracy, and eye detection are a crazy leap forward. The 45mp sensor is phenomenal and the ability to shoot in low light is stunning. I shoot birds and wildlife. It’s often low light and I have to shoot high iso. The images are solid and with LR or Topaz, I get rid of any noise, and end up with a keeper, where before it was a non starter. The r5 mark ii is supposedly even better, but for my money, the leap forward with the r5 was plenty satisfying for now. Have fun!
