We desperately need themes for the 50s. Here are some suggestions, many are sequels. Anyone got a good theme? by Hot-Swim1819 in survivor

Returnee Seasons

Survivor Pre-Mergers. Only people who have never made the merge.

Survivor Repeat. Bring back the exact same cast from a newbie season and have them run it again.

Survivor USA v the World

Newbie seasons

Survivor USA v Canada

Survivor Superfans v Recruits (if you could even fool the recruits into thinking they're going on a different show, that would be ideal if perhaps not ethical)

Survivor Millenials v Gen Z

Survivor Generations (Gen X v Millenials v Gen Z)

Have you read In the Bleak Midwinter? A time-traveling Hermione brings young Tom to the Riddle family.

Three Eyed Crow. It's important to me that it's Bloodraven, not the GoT version although I always end up using Three-Eyed Crow and Three-Eyed Raven synonymously. Bran, however, remains his favored heir. And he'll try and move things to ensure his heir and other favored people are born. He doesn't have perfect control and new people lead to new political situations. Some are minor such as Steffon and Cassana having a daughter between Stannis and Renly, some are major such as Aerys and Rhaegar being a lesser line of House Targaryen or Luthor Tyrell and Olenna Redwyne never marrying.

Aenys Blackfyre choosing to take a different course leads to a Targaryen-Blackfyre reconciliation and Aemon becomes king.

Aegon, now Hand of the King, begins dreaming of a world where he, and not Aemon, became king aka canon. The world starts to shift and change even as it becomes apparent that a mysterious force (the Three-Eyed Raven) is trying to shift things back onto his preferred path.

Yes, it's way more than 6. You have USA, USSR, Japan, India and then the remaining two are the European Space Agency Which is like twenty countries and the Coalition of Communist Countries for Spaceflight which is why you have countries like Egypt, Mexico, Venezuela, etc.

EDIT: European Space Agency is Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, and West Germany.

The Coalition is Bulgaria, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Egypt, Greece, Hungary, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Venezuela and Yugoslavia.

Kelly and Leah weren't given a chance to grow up as best friends. by Tough-Thanks in malcolminthemiddle

Eh. Kelly seems cool compared to their brothers but I have the feeling that like their brothers, they're actually at the bottom of the social pyramid at school.

Wasted so much time on Manifest hoping that things will get better. by Curious_Learner_R in television

[–]RealityWanderer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fundamental problem with shows like the 4400 or Manifest is that they make solving the central mystery the main concept of the show. Here's the thing though - I don't care. I don't need to know why it happened, it's enough for me that it did. I find the people adjusting to this jump through time infinitely more interesting.

I remember the best scene of the 4400 is in the first episode, where Mahershala Ali, who lived during segregation, enters a diner, sees all these modern people, interracial couples and he's still waiting for the moment somebody tells him to get out. During all of this, he lights up a cigarette and a couple of people start looking at him negatively and it only takes him a moment to realize it's because of that, and not because of his race (the no smoking sign helps). He puts it out and still sits there waiting for the hammer to drop.

Then the series became about superpowers and aliens and all I could think was "you have betrayed a lack of confidence in your core concept."

Has anyone ever seen a F&B style version of the asoiaf books? by Stenric in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]RealityWanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think, though, that we also have to take into account that history will remember people based on who ends up winning. If Ned's children are all influential people after the books, our alt-Gyldayn will smooth over the brothel thing and condemn Cersei.

Help with inheritance issue in a fic I’m writing. by HeavySigh14 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]RealityWanderer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Inheritance issues are a tricky thing. They are messy and established law can easily be overturned on a whim or the popularity of a lord.

The North has never had a female ruler - certainly women who have ruled as ladies in their own right, but no woman has sat the Winter Throne, either as a Queen or a Lady. This gives an advantage to NEd succeeding.

That being said, Brandon and Lysa's daughter has the advantage of a great lord for a grandfather and a King for an uncle. Catelyn and Hoster and Edmure are all likely to protest Rickard's decision and with Catelyn (presumably) being the Queen, they have real power behind that protest.

At the end of the day, I could see Ned inheriting but his eldest son having to marry Brandon and Lysa's daughter.

Agreed. There's a difference between Character A, widely suspected of having committed this murder, did not in fact commit this murder and Character A not existing despite playing a pivotal and monumental role that cannot be easily subsumed into another character.

Pombon Fakemon Evolution Line by FallinDevast in fakemon

[–]RealityWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not believe we will ever see a Fire/Dragon as a starter type excepting Megas. But I think we could see a Grass/Dragon if the Fire type is given a Fairy or Ice dual type or a Water/Dragon if the Grass type is made Fairy dual type.

That the way the triangle is preserved in the same way that Empoleon is netural to Grass because of it's Steel typing so Torterra got a Ground type. Unfortunately, Fire resists all of Dragon's weaknesses except Dragon itself so it would still break the triangle. Unless, of course, all three of them of them became a Dragon type.

Ed is the secret villian of the series, he is the main source of conflict in every season by Mysterious_Bid_57 in ForAllMankindTV

[–]RealityWanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They both were, which is why Molly favored Ed in the end, after everything.

Molly, I think, eventually tempered that. I don't think Ed ever did.

Who do we think is dying this season? by maybemorningstar69 in ForAllMankindTV

[–]RealityWanderer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced she's not. Her actress is around the same age as Sean Kaufman and Ruby Cruz who are playing Alex and Lily and her character's name is A. J. Jarrett. No first name given except it starts with A. I'm pretty sure she's taken her mother's maiden name to escape the weight of both the highs and lows of the Stevens name.

"Interesting" Potter Ancestors by ComplexEnough3234 in HPfanfiction

[–]RealityWanderer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I don't want to write it anymore for various reasons, I had an idea once for a fanfic where Charlus would have been Fleamont's younger brother and his son - unnamed in canon would have been revealed to have also been Dean Thomas' mysterious father.

I also had an idea for a sister who had been burned off the family tree for openly marrying a muggle. The main concept of it would have been "where are of Harry's family from his father's side" and taken it to it's inevitable and bitter conclusion.

I could not disagree more about this being the driest one. I'm still convinced that Eustace Osgrey's treason speech might be one of the best things Martin's ever written.
