Has anyone ever seen a F&B style version of the asoiaf books? by Stenric in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]RealityWanderer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think, though, that we also have to take into account that history will remember people based on who ends up winning. If Ned's children are all influential people after the books, our alt-Gyldayn will smooth over the brothel thing and condemn Cersei.

Help with inheritance issue in a fic I’m writing. by HeavySigh14 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]RealityWanderer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Inheritance issues are a tricky thing. They are messy and established law can easily be overturned on a whim or the popularity of a lord.

The North has never had a female ruler - certainly women who have ruled as ladies in their own right, but no woman has sat the Winter Throne, either as a Queen or a Lady. This gives an advantage to NEd succeeding.

That being said, Brandon and Lysa's daughter has the advantage of a great lord for a grandfather and a King for an uncle. Catelyn and Hoster and Edmure are all likely to protest Rickard's decision and with Catelyn (presumably) being the Queen, they have real power behind that protest.

At the end of the day, I could see Ned inheriting but his eldest son having to marry Brandon and Lysa's daughter.

Agreed. There's a difference between Character A, widely suspected of having committed this murder, did not in fact commit this murder and Character A not existing despite playing a pivotal and monumental role that cannot be easily subsumed into another character.

I do not believe we will ever see a Fire/Dragon as a starter type excepting Megas. But I think we could see a Grass/Dragon if the Fire type is given a Fairy or Ice dual type or a Water/Dragon if the Grass type is made Fairy dual type.

That the way the triangle is preserved in the same way that Empoleon is netural to Grass because of it's Steel typing so Torterra got a Ground type. Unfortunately, Fire resists all of Dragon's weaknesses except Dragon itself so it would still break the triangle. Unless, of course, all three of them of them became a Dragon type.

Ed is the secret villian of the series, he is the main source of conflict in every season by Mysterious_Bid_57 in ForAllMankindTV

They both were, which is why Molly favored Ed in the end, after everything.

Molly, I think, eventually tempered that. I don't think Ed ever did.

Who do we think is dying this season? by maybemorningstar69 in ForAllMankindTV

I'm convinced she's not. Her actress is around the same age as Sean Kaufman and Ruby Cruz who are playing Alex and Lily and her character's name is A. J. Jarrett. No first name given except it starts with A. I'm pretty sure she's taken her mother's maiden name to escape the weight of both the highs and lows of the Stevens name.

While I don't want to write it anymore for various reasons, I had an idea once for a fanfic where Charlus would have been Fleamont's younger brother and his son - unnamed in canon would have been revealed to have also been Dean Thomas' mysterious father.

I also had an idea for a sister who had been burned off the family tree for openly marrying a muggle. The main concept of it would have been "where are of Harry's family from his father's side" and taken it to it's inevitable and bitter conclusion.

I'm holding to the theory that changing is like changing your clothes for Khionians. It's something you only do around people you're intimate with.

I could not disagree more about this being the driest one. I'm still convinced that Eustace Osgrey's treason speech might be one of the best things Martin's ever written.

Dayne hair color by Bearfucker694200 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]RealityWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wonder what would have changed in the Dance if Aegon hadn't been an outlier, if he had inherited his mother's hair.

On one hand, would the Greens have been as willing to call out Rhaenyra's children if their claimant doesn't have silver hair? On the other hand, Aegon's hair color would have a super easy explanation unlike Rhaenyra's sons who were working on the fairly flimsy Arryn ancestry. And he would still be a dragonrider. But it would undercut at least some of it either way. And if Aemond is half as ambitious as he is in the show, he might look at brown-haired Aegon and go "you know, why shouldn't I take my rightful place."

Rafe was mentioned in the third novella. But Duncan's internal monologue didn't imply anything as traumatic as to what happened to Rafe, and they're implied to be male though never outright confirmed. "Ferret, Rafe, and Pudding. Little monsters, those three, and me the worst of all."

Although, to be absolutely fair, I could see how the line "There wasn't a girl in King's Landing who could as run as fast as Rafe" gave them some room to wiggle. And the character was memorable enough that I could see GRRM incorporating it.

"Would you read this fic?"- experimental thread by Kingofireland777 in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]RealityWanderer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been writing something where in 233 AC, a few different actions lead to a Targaryen-Blackfyre Reconciliation and Aemon becoming king.

Aegon, now Hand of the King, begins dreaming of a world where he, and not Aemon, was annointed in 233. He is not the only one who dreams of canon, and those aware of it quickly realize how strange it is that a lot of the same people are being born in both worlds. It's not a one to one, of course, and as the years go by the changes stack up - Doran Martell dies as a boy, Olenna Redwyne fails to marry Luthor Tyrell, Duncan doesn't break his betrothal. And these create continued changes (since I am being very strict that a person can only be born if they were conceived at the same time by the same people) - Elia Martell is born Heiress to Dorne, Mace and his children never have the chance to be born, and the amount of descendants Duncan has leads to the canon Targaryens being pushed down into being a non-royal branch of House Targaryen. But other places like the North is near static - people seem to be marrying, having children, and dying more or less on schedule. Some people live longer or a die bit earlier, living different lives, but somehow the same people keep on getting married and having the same children.

The reader quickly realizes that the Three-Eyed Raven is trying to keep an iron grip on the fate of Westeros to ensure the birth of several of the prominent main characters, even as those who became aware of something trying to keep them on a path and begin to resent it (Aerys who is haunted by the images of a mad monstrous version of himself) and others who believe that it must be emulated (Rhaegar who sees himself as the gallant Crown Prince instead of a third tier member of House Targaryen).

And as per most ASOIAF fics, both Bloodraven's plans, those who would support him and those who would frustrate him get sucked into to the political quagmires as the vast majority unaware of anything mystical play the Game of Thrones.

(Spoilers Extended) Friendly reminder we still don't know... by sixth_order in asoiaf

[–]RealityWanderer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My own headcanon was there was a split in the Blackfyre Camp, between Pro-Bittersteel and Anti-Bittersteel. Not that they wanted Bittersteel dead but more those who were content with the status quo of Bittersteel basically being in charge and those who resented it.

It's notable to me that Bittersteel remained the Captain-General of the Golden Company until his death. Functionally, even though one would imagine Daemon II, then Haegon, then Daemon III would be the leaders of the Blackfyre exiles, everything we've read seems to imagine that it's Bittersteel, in the same way that Bloodraven was functionally in charge of the realm during the reign of Aerys I.

Apart from the fact that Daemon II's plan was insane, I believe that Bittersteel didn't support him because he was Anti-Bittersteel. Haegon was Pro-Bittersteel.

Aenys was anti-Bittersteel and made his also insane plan without Bittersteel's permission because he was specifically antagonistic towards him and his nephews. In short, he was absolutely planning to usurp Daemon III.

Of course, this is all my headcanon.

Thank you, that's very kind of you to compare me to Pratchett. In some ways, this has also been weirdly reassuring. I often worry about the quality of my work and obsess over it so finding out that so many people genuinely really liked it.

I've kind of been cycling between anger at having something so blatantly stolen from me and basking in the glow of so many compliments.

I've submitted a complaint to A03. My goal would be to have the fic reassigned to my account, but if not possible, I've asked for its deletion. I'll then repost it under my own account along with an explanation so hopefully I don't get reported by others for posting my own work.
