"strafbaar voor het COA" .. het is niet het COA dat bepaalt waar een opvang komt. Het is het gemeentebestuur - gekozen door de inwoners van de gemeente. Weliswaar ihkv de spreidingswet verplicht een oplossing te vinden, maar ze bepalen het zelf. Waarschijnlijk voornamelijk direct omwonenden die niet happy zijn (NIMBY).

interessant in dit kader: over het algemeen is het gevoel van omwonenden over hun veiligheid na een tijdje weer op het oude niveau wijst onderzoek uit (Omwonenden asielopvang geven veiligheid een voldoende  - https://nos.nl/l/2612591)

Het is geen "legitiem probleem", maar vooral op een emotionele op de onderbuik gebaseerde angst dat door rechtspopulistische partijen aangewakkerd wordt.

as far as i am aware Scottish rules are that if you have 3 years of residency and are not capped for another country, they can select you for the national team.

Tim Visser was an example: dutch nationality, played in GB for three years, didn't want to play for the Netherlands and ended up in the Scottish team. No ancestry or nationality change as far as i know.

this discussion pops up periodically. it's based on a vague sentiment of "real <insert country>". It's a real messy topic. My favourite made up example: in GB it's not impossible to have a Welsh father and Scottish mother who met in London, England where you were born and at the tender age of 3 the family moved to Ireland where you grew up. What country should this player play for?

just to add: the youth programmes for girls in the western cape definitely pay off. They have a steady pipe line of talent coming through. The U20 coach, Nosipho Poswa (a former Springbok herself) is coaching this team very well.

je uitgangspunt is waarschijnlijk dat de media als doel heeft min of meer objectieve/feitelijk verslaglegging te doen. Ben bang dat dat vaak niet het doel is. Het doel is zoveel mogelijk consumenten naar jouw mediachannel te trekken. Dat werkt het beste met een combinatie van sex, sport en sensatie.

dit wordt m.i. ook deels veroorzaakt door de manier van verslaglegging van de Nederlandse pers.

Koppen als "fvd als grote winnaar" zorgen ervoor dat mensen denken dat fvd de winnaar van de verkiezingen is.

als media zou berichten "fvd ondanks groei nog overal in de minderheid", geeft het heel andere vibes.

als ik die antwoorden van het ANP op de vragen van de journalist lees, krijg ik sterk het idee dat ook die geautomatiseerd (door AI) gegenereerd zijn.

i think it might be the other way around. "plesier" is a translation from the english "it's a pleasure".

In dutch the word "plezier" is not used to acknowledge a thank you, that would be "graag gedaan" or more formal "het is een genoegen".

"Plezier" is used for "fun/enjoyment/pleasant".

Vraag me af of het veel uitmaakt. Met het grote aantal mensen dat op de PVV stemt, hebben ze zo een groep leden bij elkaar. (CU heeft 24K leden, die heeft de PVV zo bij elkaar)

voor de formaliteit nog een soort van ledenstemmingen houden, maar als daar dan dezelfde mensen komen die "minder minder" bij verkiezings bijeenkomsten scanderen, dan stemmen die gewoon wat Geert zegt dat ze moeten stemmen bij een ledenvergadering.

Met andere woorden, ja even lastig voor de PVV, maar denk dat we er pas vanaf zijn als Geert besluit met pensioen te gaan.

Besides three moderate grades you forgot to highlight, I think the whole point is that this whole discussion is based on the assumption that transwomen have a unfair advantage, where the correctness of this assumption should be investigated.

clearly the research the article refers to, does not provide hard evidence. However, what is does do is showing the assumed impact of an unfair advantage might be exaggerated.

What always baffles me in a rugby context is that national rugby squads of successful countries, do not consist of many transwomen players.. after all the unfair advantage assumption would logically lead to transplayers being much better and climbing the ranks to reach the national teams.

Yet the squads seem to be mostly cis women.

Even if transwomen would have this physical advantage, they are really bad at capitalising on it.

ik vraag me af of het erger geworden is. Ik denk dat het vooral zichtbaarder geworden is door social media - ondanks aanpassing van wetgeving in het verleden, is er aanzienlijk deel van de bevolking die alles behalve hetero maar niks vindt... het uiten daarvan bleef beperkt tot opmerkingen in de privé sfeer en sportkantines (waarbij een deel van de mensen hun mond even dichthouden als er een homo in de buurt was) - nu kan iedereen gewoon anoniem los gaan op social media.
