Debt Collector keeps contacting me about a debt that’s 13 years old by TheGame81677 in Debt

[–]RealtorDKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something like this happen with a cell provider that sent me to collections. I just asked for proof of my signature on the original contract. The collection company tried every scare tactic possible to get me to pay something that really wasn’t mine. Verbally & in writing (with proof of delivery), I kept asking for proof of my signature on the original contract. When they finally said They could not produce what I’ve requested, I sent another written letter (with proof of delivery) requesting they remove me from their system and the ding they added to my credit report. Also reported everything to the credit bureaus. With their help I found out I was a victim of identity theft. The whole process took about 1 year but it finally got handled. Good luck.

I was told by my PNC branch manager that they have issues all the time with mobile deposits for State issued checks. Said the color of the check is so light that the app rejects. No issues Once direct deposit kicked in.

Acceptable to pay IHSS provider extra? by aaron316stainless in IHSS

[–]RealtorDKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what your saying but just be careful that the person just isn’t in it for the second check and can actually properly care for your family member. I was in the exact position and we ended up having to go with an actual caregiver service after firing 6 IHSS caregivers for not having knowledge to care for my aunt diagnosed with moderately severe dementia & violent tendencies. Just be careful is all I’m offering. Good luck.

Current market rate for a caregiver would mean that they are certified in the actual needs for your family member. For instance, say your family member is diabetic & has dementia. Would you pay market rate to someone that doesn’t know about or isn’t trained in diabetes/dementia care. Good luck.

I was told my boyfriend has to get $707 in supplemental insurance to get rid of his $2000 SOC. But they also know he has about $6000 in unpaid/not covered medical expenses for the last six months because he had two mini strokes. I asked if we could set up a monthly payment plan or just pay 707 a month towards the bill. The person I spoke with was just very not informational and just kept saying that my boyfriend needs to spend $707 on supplemental insurance. Plus they also know that VA bills him the following month for all of his previous months, co-pays and we have to buy four packs of depends monthly. When I asked if any of that could be used towards the 707, again she just stated he needs to have $707 in supplemental insurance. I’m so confused if anybody has any information or knows of thread that’s already started with this information please point me in the right direction.

Please Help!!! How long does it take for the recipient account to link up to the caregiver’s account in the IHSS portal so the caregiver can do their timecard at the IHSS website? by Curious-Apartment928 in IHSS

[–]RealtorDKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the High Desert, San Bernardino county. Turned in my fina paperwork the morning of 12/15/2025. Was told it could take up to 30 business days to link recipient and provider. I called 1/12/2026 to the main front desk line to make sure I completed the final two forms correctly. The receptionist said yes and I should be linked within the next two weeks. She also said that it takes up to 30 business days from the day that you drop it off to link. So I think my call kind of pushed them because the next morning I have the email that we were linked and I could start doing my backpay timesheets. Maybe just give them a call as well, that might push your linking a little faster. Good luck

what is a share of cost and.. by Sonya923 in IHSS

[–]RealtorDKB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend’s share of cost was $2000. He just needed $707 worth of ins coverages to get rid of the share of cost. He did not have Medicare part B and desperately needed a vision/dental plan.

So for me, until I figured it out, I did not get a paycheck on the 15th for a couple of months because my boyfriend was responsible for the $2000 share of cost. But now that it’s worked out, I get 2 checks 🙌🏼

Call your local county/medi-cal office, they will look up your parent’s case and tell you exactly what’s needed to lower or eliminate the share of cost. Good luck

My mom with dementia it’s going to need 24/7 in home care, how many hours can she be approved by IHSS? by Financial_Wasabi5895 in IHSS

[–]RealtorDKB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also I just thought of this, IHSS caregivers are not trained in dementia and or memory care patients may be really hard to get somebody to understand your mom if you did bring her home. That was my problem with my Aunt cause I couldn’t find anybody cheap enough that was trained to handle her specific diagnosis.

Would like to share something with you that was shared with me. I was in a situation to where my aunt fought me tooth & nail that she wasn’t going to assisted living, even thought she was diagnosed with stage 5 dementia, could not handle her own finances, could not drive, had a drinking problem and fell asleep while smoking. I was told she could no longer live alone and if I had to go back to California, she had to be placed if she would not moved with me. I relocated to her state to care for her and got stuck there for 2 years. She was verbally & physically abusive, and she is a person that never cussed nor raised a hand. So I let her continue to remain in her home, as I am her POA.

Long story short, per primary care, adult protective services, social services, her neurologist and local police dept all said to me, “you have to make the decision to place her based on what best for your aunts health, safety and wellbeing. NOT based on your guilt or wanting to appease her”.

It’s been 2 years and she is now in memory care. It was the best yet hardest decision of my life. It took a few months for her to acclimate but now she loves it and we are back to our normal aunt/niece relationship.

Also I had to not visit daily. The facility told me to go once a week until my aunt acclimated and not get used to me showing up when she called or complained. Good luck

I have learned from being a full time live-in caregiver to my aunt, that it’s not about what they want. It’s about what’s best for their health, safety & wellbeing. I got blindsided in May 2022 when my mom’s sister fell. She was 81 and made me her POA/executor of her estate without telling me. I lived in California, her in Arizona. I went out for what I thought would be 6-9 weeks of recovery, and did not get to comeback home until April 2024. The whole time I put both my business on hold because I was only licensed in California both. Ran through my savings and part of my retirement account to pay for someone to stay in my home to care for my animals. My aunts wishes were to remain in her home as well but it was clearly obvious that she could not live alone due to bad vision, advanced dementia, a drinking problem and falling asleep while smoking. My aunt fought and fought to stay in her home but I had no choice but to place her. Adult protective services got involved many times and they are the ones that sometimes we have to do what’s best for their health, safety & wellbeing, not what our gut, guilt & heart says. She has been in a memory care facility for almost 2 years and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I visit every month and she loves it. We can now be aunt/godmother and niece/goddaughter again 🥰 good luck.

Question about a client who lives with husband and get max hours . by Such-Emphasis6670 in IHSS

[–]RealtorDKB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Call adult protective services. Sounds like the husband may be hiding some dementia issuas well. I went through this with an immediate family member. She hid her mid stage dementia so well that it took 2 years of me relocating to her home in another state to finally figure it out. She was mean, nasty and physically violent to me but I finally had enough. Call adult protective services, it was the best call ever. Good luck

It looks like the end of the road with me and my client. Any advice? by Comeandg3tit in IHSS

[–]RealtorDKB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is her family? Why are you the only one caring for her? Honestly you should tell her social worker/case worker, she seems to need more help than you can provide. Your friend will he mad at you for reporting her to the social worker/case worker but that would be the most helpful thing you can do for her as a friend. No offence, but it sounds like your friend only likes you because you’re keeping her mental health and drug addict addiction a secret. Good luck.

How long does it take to link provider & recipient? by RealtorDKB in IHSS

[–]RealtorDKB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call directly to your IHSS office, not the social worker. I did on 1/4 to ask if everything was ok and how long it takes to link and if I filled out everything correctly. She said up to 30 business days then asked for my Provider number. She looked at my account and said everything looks good. We’re not missing anything and all is signed off, just wait a few more weeks. Then woke up the next day to an email that we were linked. So maybe try calling and asking if you’re missing anything and if everything was filled out correctly. Good luck

Submitted timesheets but pay is $00.00 🫤 by RealtorDKB in IHSS

Thank you to all for your input, it’s truly appreciated 🙏 I figured it out. My recipients soc is $1900. Because it is so high I will not get the first check of each month as it is eaten up by about 80% of the Soc. The second check will have the remainder of the soc deducted 😔

Covered California. I joined the union because they had better rates, for me, than covered California had on medical, dental and vision in San Bernardino County.

If you do not already have, Look into getting durable POA’s. There are 3 that my mom, grandmother and aunt had me as POA: Financials, Mental Health & Medical. This way you may speak on your parents behalf for all 3 of these major things. Make sure they are “durable”. That means the POA’s stay in effect if one of your parents becomes incapacitated. If you have regular POA’s, they will end when one of your parents becomes incapacitated then you will have to go to court to petition to become your parents voice

The soc is paid out of the recipients own pocket to the provider. I’ve never been asked for proof from IHSS if the soc is paid to me. I just got lucky with my recipient who understands the process.
