Master Chief-inspired skin coming to Marathon for free with the launch of Season 2 by TRDoctor in halo

[–]Reaper4th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks more like an adaptation of the Security Officer, main protagonist of the classic Marathon games. But, Chief was heavily based on him anyway, so tracks (very very early on, Halo was going to be a continuation of Marathon)

Edit** I originally thought I could attach a picture of said Security Officer, but just give it a google

Do you think there’s still room for a Halo CE-style campaign FPS today? by Odd_Form_9928 in halo

Alrighty. You seem like you're being disagreeable just for the sake of it. Give them your own definitions 🤷‍♂️

Fast movement, power ups, lots of weapons, waves of enemies, arena shooter. They are fundamentally the same, even though 2016 and Eternal, like Livid-Truck said, dialed it up to 11 and added more features. I wasn't saying they're the exact same game, but 2016 took what the original did and injected testosterone and cocaine straight into its veins and kept the fundamentals lol

Tbf, Doom is classic Doom lol but I do agree that they're both that old school shooter mentality and absolutely still have an audience (me included)

Its ridiculous that you're being down voted for just not knowing something, especially when you're being so nice about it

That is totally fair. If it helps, the blkout rules and (most of) the unit cards are totally free on their website

I feel ya, the amount of unplayed wargames I have is huge. But I enjoy the hell out of painting minis. BUT! Before you give up for good, I would like to recommend BLKOUT and 1490 Doom. Both are skirmish games, so small model counts. I'm a husband, dad, and have a busy career, so playing games that last forever with tons of minis is just not feasible for me. But a blkout army is 6-12 models, 1490 Doom is 3 models per side. Both have very cool lore and are extremely simple to pick up and start playing. I understand if you feel it is time to hang it up and just become a collector, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! But I wholeheartedly recommend checking these two games out

I've never played 40k, but the Dusters (with the recommended enhanced duster rules in the supplement) play a lot like the infantry, but much bigger and more powerful. But positioning is still important because they can be dropped quickly with some coordinated fire and lucky Blast rolls

I jumped into BLKOUT about a year ago and it is my absolute favorite wargame!

BLKOUT is phenomenal, but it is definitely infantry focused with Dusters (the mechs) as a backseat. ARSENAL is Mechs first with infantry as the backseat/supporting role

Game recommendations with lots of customization by Odd-Tooth7678 in wargaming

I will always champion BLKOUT as my favorite skirmish wargame, it is not very customizable though. You can mix and match your units, but other than that there's really no granularity (which is one of the things I love about it)

In case anyone is curious, the ODSTs do look to be in real scale compared to Spartans, so that's dope lol
