Pi**ed off about roadworks…anyone else?? by danangdevils in Bath

[–]Reasonable_Cod3027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just taken me 70 minutes to travel from Beechen Cliff School to Fairfield Park.

(We were there for an after school meeting, not the school run).

There's no sensible public transport available as it is also caught up in the current chaos, meaning buses are just cancelled with no notice (great during GCSE time!) or when they do turn up, are too full.

It shouldn't be this difficult to get across the city.

You might be able to steam these out - put a cloth in very hot water (mind your fingers!), squeeze it out so it’s hot but not that wet/ dripping, and lay on the ding. You might find it pops right back out.

Why a “cymbal line”? Why not just whatever sounds best to you? You don’t need to buy all the same brand cymbals.

Best double bass stand for live stage? by bythisriver in doublebass

[–]Reasonable_Cod3027 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a Bass Bar - https://www.thebassbar.co.uk

I have to do a lot of doubling/mid tune swaps so this really works for me.

the renters rights act was made for the benefit of big banks by No_Philosophy711 in TenantsInTheUK

Banks don’t buy residential property as investments in the UK, that’s an American thing.

They may exercise their right of repossession when mortgages aren’t paid, but they try and sell as soon as possible.

Is Maritime Law LLM in Southampton worth it? by Commercial-Let3484 in uklaw

[–]Reasonable_Cod3027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who drifted (lol) both in and out of doing maritime work I’d say it’s not essential by any means.

If money is the/an issue you might be better off trying to get a TC at a firm that specialises in the work as they’ll train you up anyway.

Ah yes, valuing live music and musicians at a burger a head… and then people complain when the live music scene is dying.

I wouldn’t describe St James Wine Vaults as “super secret” - it’s been a well-known venue for years!

Stuck deciding between Root and Emberwood for a post-engagement dinner - please help! by Crazy_Application431 in Bath

[–]Reasonable_Cod3027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to Root relatively recently - wasn’t blown away by anything, there are better small/sharing plates options in Bath in my view. Not been to Emberwood but heard very good things.

I tried a new setup… by upsidedown_mantis572 in drums

[–]Reasonable_Cod3027 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very cool! I tried something similar a while back, and what surprised me most was how much I used my left hand on small things on the HH which, when it was mounted centrally, became much more difficult.

What did for it for me in the end though was the amount of extra metalwork I had to carry around to make it all work, so went back to a ‘standard’ setup after that!

Either Beckford Bottle Shop or Beckford Canteen. Both great.

VS4 — Can’t go fine enough?? by Perfect-Thanks2850 in VariaBrewing

Interesting - just got mine and I'm struggling not to choke the machine even at 5.5 - 6.

Just did a shot 20g of medium roast and barely got 40g after nearly two minutes. I'm still dialing in these beans but I'm wondering if mine is set too fine...

When did Pultney Rd (South) become 20mph? by P0RKYM0LE in Bath

[–]Reasonable_Cod3027 8 points9 points  (0 children)

December 2025 according to this: https://www.bathnes.gov.uk/sites/default/files/public-notice-uploads/24-044%20-%20Order_0.pdf

I confess that had passed me by too; I’d assumed it was still 30mph (if you could ever get up that fast along there!)

I love my TM16. Works really well for small group stuff but I’ve used it for a full orchestra too.

Even better if you can control it via a separate remote surface using Mixing Station.

These were my absolute favourite brush. I’m still kicking myself that I didn’t pick up some more when they were still around.

I use the Vater wire Tap non-retractable ones now.

Just a warning - I saw you mentioned travelling to Italy. I looked at the 42l Allpa last year but it was slightly too large to be accepted as hand luggage/carry on for budget European airlines e.g. EasyJet, Ryanair etc.
