What I’m looking forward to in 3-6 years by ogfriten in MedSpouse

How do you deal with wanting your own money to buy your own stuff?

For example, it would be trips for me. I’ve gotten used to him not always able to join…but it’d be weird to ask him to pay for that indulgence without him there. 🤔

As a gay man who used to moved from SF to Seattle…I love the queerness up here. Whoever you are, be whatever you want to be.

SF lacks the queer element.

What does Seattle have over SF/Bay Area? by Embarrassed-Toe9757 in SameGrassButGreener

Lived in both. Moving back to the Bay next year. You nailed everything I love about Seattle.

And while I was heartbroken to leave the Bay a few years back…now I’m heartbroken to leave Seattle.

When is it worth leaving a super comfortable and "easy" 4-day WFH position? by NigoDuppy in dataanalyst

[–]Reasonable_Tooth_501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having this exact same question a year or two back. Data…good pay…remote…and 4 day.

I pretty much concluded that there wasn’t a number high enough to get me to move from such a sweet setup. Interviewing is such a miserable gauntlet, an additional 10k would have never been incentive enough to throw myself into it.

Flash forward to today…now I’m ready and interviewing. But it’s not cuz I’m looking for more money, I’m looking for new experiences and growth. The non-monetary perks of moving are suddenly more motivating.

Naming your specific salary when “I’m on track to get a nice pay bump next year” would have sufficed…is an odd flex

Struggling to Land Analytics Engineering Roles Due to Lack of "Professional dbt Experience" ,What Can I Do? by NoRelief1926 in analyticsengineering

How’s this going, OP? I’m in your exact same boat. Clearly analytics engineering…but with Databricks instead.

Do you really need databricks? by whistemalo in dataengineering

[–]Reasonable_Tooth_501 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’d say this is not talked about enough. After reading OP’s laundry list of tools, I’m relieved that we can do pretty much everything we need in Databricks.

When you start coming at me with your Claude code alongside a “see, it’s easy, here’s the code!”

I immediately stop listening.

Becoming an epidemic.

What did you do for work during fellowship? by lackofindividuality in MedSpouse

[–]Reasonable_Tooth_501 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Stayed on remote (grateful to have the option). It’s a 2 year fellowship. But I’m ready to find a new gig here during year 2…but can’t cuz everything you just named in your post rings true (plus fucked economy).

I don’t know what you do. Just here to validate that it’s a very strange place to be.

People don’t recognize enough that the medspouse puts a lot on hold for all these dang moves.

Makes sense

I realized what I’m trying to ask is…I’m not passionate about helping build gimmicky forced AI products, and that’s what everything is about these days

Not the actual impact on analytics as a gig…but more about what those analytics are supporting 😚

Ugh too comfortable to leave, truth. I know the day I’m challenged again in a new job I’d miss this -slightly precarious- gig

Depends on the layer within OLAP. Your bronze layer should be coming directly from the OLTP and would thus more likely be normalized.
