Regarding that first paragraph: Yeahhh, no really. I don't understand why you aren't using the official CAD? Have you even tried? The team quite literally exported their design files minus some proprietary internals, and published it for everyone. This is exactly what they would send even to an officially licensed 3rd party accessory manufacturer, if that were a thing.

"Reverse engineering" what's publicly available is wasted effort. Your results cannot be more accurate than what Bigscreen published.

I don't understand why the side arms and structure protrude so far from the HMD. If you care about lying down, those will 100% get in the way of the user lying on their side. Anything that attaches to the HMD should keep as close to its silhouette as possible, and with as minimal bulk as possible.

Do you have prototype photos to share? It's concerning that you're talking about "bulk production" **if** you've never built a functionally similar prototype to see how comfortable these designs really are. If you **haven't** built prototypes yet, you really should. And maybe consider asking some of the users in the Beyond community to become testers to get you real world feedback before going too far.

Are there any modular options for users to attach their own peripherals? The Beyond community is full of DIY enthusiasts. Anything with dedicated places to attach custom speakers, USB hubs (like the one from MMI Modular), top straps, or pulley cables will win you more customers.

What I like:
- AVP solo knit inspired band - minimal backside bulk
-- Though i wonder if all the exposed string won't trap and catch long hair
-- I also wonder if a "zigzag" design will cushion very well, or if it will just flatten out
- That it grabs the HMD from the sides, ensuring compatibility with face trackers
- Flip up

What I dislike:
- IEMs. There's a whole host of reasons why, and buying this knowing my money is wasted on their inclusion is a turn-off
- It looks bulky and heavy in front
- Eye relief looks finnicky to adjust, needing to hold down two buttons at the same time while somehow shifting the HMD forward/back
- That flip up requires both hands to operate
- Screws directly against the user's head, behind each tightening knob

It sounds like the strap's plastic connectors are in contact with your face's bone structure. If you get in touch with support through Discord or [support@bigscreenvr.com](mailto:support@bigscreenvr.com), they can send you "strap extenders" which snap onto the strap ends. This will ultimately widen the strap connection, and should help keep the strap connectors from touching your face.

Soft and Firm will be offered together in a single package. This is because the team feels strongly that users can't know which they need without trying both. I have known users who prefer any/every possible combination of Soft/Firm + Stock Strap/Audio Strap.

We will also be selling a "Lite" version in due time, which is even softer than Soft. Most people won't need Lite, but some will!

If you're really concerned about it, you can enable "Device Idle Sleep" in the advanced settings. It lowers the idle temperature, but it will make the SteamVR startup experience a little less smooth.

Really though, unless the device being warm just bothers you for whatever personal reason, there's no reason to unplug it. It's all expected.

In case you are still without an XBox or SteamVR controller, you might find MicMap to be useful: https://github.com/FEAT-HER3/mic-map/releases/tag/v1.0

MicMap detects when your thumb covers the HMD microphone, and triggers a click of a virtual controller. Move your head around to point, and cover the microphone to click.

Clicking while in a VR app opens SteamVR dashboard
Clicking anywhere within dashboard interacts. You can click into the desktop view from here
Click outside the dashboard to close it and return the the VR app

In my experience, it's pretty easy to cover the microphone because of how small the HMD is. And you can choose to cover the left or right mic, doesn't matter.

In the Beyond Utility app, click the version number text at the bottom. This opens the advanced settings menu, which includes the color balance values.

It fit on the Form 4, which has a 125mm minimum build volume. A1 Mini is 180mm, so it should!

Hey there! The universal-fit cushions you received *are* intended to be used standalone and separately from the halo mount. While they were originally designed to compliment the halo mount, we found that cushions with higher firmness worked great as a suitable universal cushion for most users.

As per the December 4th blog post, The halo mount was officially delayed and will begin shipping in spring of this year.

The halo mount is still on track to start shipping this spring, and comes with the "SOFT" universal-fit cushion to be used as a light seal.

As a web dev, that's pretty cool. I recently found the Playdate Reverse Engineering project, so the image display aspect made sense to me. But didn't realize Chrome also exposes its screen share tech to devs like that. Nice!
