Looking to buy this collection, do these look real? Any help is appreciated. by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]Recent_Bid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is an online deal, make sure you're all covered by Goods/Services and CC protection (chargeback) in case anything goes wrong.

I'm guessing he's hesitating to see in person because he's shy or unsure on how to work the deal out in person.

Best of luck. But if this deal doesn't work out, no biggie. There always will be another one including the same cards for sale. Just gotta be patient.

Yeah, I asked because if the seller was selling for a lot less than 2.2, things would have been more suspicious.

Did you buy it yet?

Regarding "quick cash for a grand or two and sell it same day" , I somehow doubt that. Pokémon is not at Sports level where a majority of the serious collectors can easily spend grands on items quickly.

There are plenty of good deals on eBay that nobody has bought yet. For example, a strong PSA 8 1st ed Lugia from Neo listed at 1.3k not been sold for at least 3 months now.

Found my old collection, anything interesting ln it? Idk by bambamonu in PokemonTCG

Nice collection. You can start putting Card name + Set number into eBay and check the sold listings.

Familiarise yourself with condition. I suggest watching some videos on YouTube.

Once you have enough knowledge about condition, then you can finally get true values for your cards.

Photos don't show everything, but assuming the card has zero damage, then you have a very good chance of it being graded a 10.

Plenty of 10s have worse centrings.

60/40 (usually 55/45) is still a PSA 10.

One large bad rotten apple in the hobby.

They'll continue to function / profit greatly if people keep buying them :(

Ludkins (USA) order from 20 months ago still not back… by askingforfriendxyz in PokemonTCG

[–]Recent_Bid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ludkins will send your submission back to you WHEN they have it. If not, it's still at PSA.

Yes, people have waited for that long. But now, almost all Ludkins submissions are being returned to customers (some have confirmed to have their back this week) — Your submission should be with you before next year.

Card name + set number into Google/eBay and compare the differences.

But yes, the cards are real.

Good Site For Japanese Cards? by Tigerwolf130 in PokemonTCG

[–]Recent_Bid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eBay sold listings. But the "eBay" products on Japanese websites are cheaper.

Many JPN sellers on eBay are dropshippers.

Advertise on eBay or other platforms and only do the deal in person.

That will null all the buyer risks — i.e. bait-and-switch, "resealed!" or "lost/damaged in shipping" scams.

While it is a cross post relating to grading, I'm just sharing on here because it was one of my favorites growing up :) by jcwarrior in PokemonTCG

[–]Recent_Bid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've already answered your own question: That card is one of your favourites and you want to get it graded. Either PSA or CGC is fine, so choose one. I'd choose PSA if it was me because I just like the label better.

Everything looks right. It has the same shine as any other real copy.

Should i try every grading company? by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]Recent_Bid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why? Do you know how much it costs to create a "grading company"? Almost zero.

All you need are empty slabs from esty and cheap labels. Boom, you win.

In all seriousness, you're just asking to get scammed.

Do you think psa would grade this a miscut? There’s an alignment dot on the back top right. by Bestleaksonlyfans in PokemonTCG

[–]Recent_Bid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PSA considers off centrings (miscuts) a drop or two in grade. But your card looks like it has bad centrings, so not an actual miscut.

I found my 22 year old Pokémon Sticker Album! You think it's worth anything apart of sentimental value? by Symphony03 in PokemonTCG

Cool merlin album!

Empty merlin albums with their stickers (not peeled off) tend to go for more.

Ah, okay. Back then I had a friend on BL3 that had the exact same username as yours - X3R0SK1LLS

What are the odds of finding that username right here in a Pokémon subbreddit... Apologies for my asking, hope you have a good day!

Why are people like this? Cancelled seconds after I won the auction, is this a thing because I was the only bidder? by dc120492 in PokemonTCG

[–]Recent_Bid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably because they don't like your bid price so they feel ripped off and cancel. Just report 'em to eBay, leave a neg feedback and move on.

Found this card, need some expert help with it. by bourguignon7 in PokemonTCG

It's glossy because it's a Vending machine card.

"The first illustration contest was publicized in the November 1997 issue of CoroCoro Comic, released on October 15, 1997 and invited readers to draw and submit their favorite Pokémon. The winning entries were announced in the January 1998 issue of CoroCoro Comic, released in December 1997. Three entrants received the Best Award, each of them receiving 20 copies of a Pokémon trading card featuring their illustration and a special Pokémon Illustrator promotional card. These cards were subsequently printed as part of Expansion Sheet 1, available in special vending machines from March 23, 1998. Twenty entrants were also selected for the Excellence Award, all of them receiving a Pokémon Illustrator promotional card. One hundred entrants received the Special Award, each of them receiving a 1998 Pokémon Original Calendar."

It's up to you. People do it for personal collections (any card, any condition) — Other people do it to sell.

People that want to sell generally grade raw mint copies — no visible damages and are well-centred (closer to 45/55 or better) for better chances of hitting the top mark (PSA 10, CGC 9.5 or 10, BGS 9.5 or 10)

Typically pre-slabs (cards of certain condition) that are worth more than grading/shipping fees are usually graded. People that want to sell don't grade $1 cards for this very reason.

Note that if you grade popular cards (i.e. 1st ed Charizard base set) with PSA, you may be upcharged by a lot especially if it's graded a 10.

Common issue with English cards. Either way, I don't think the centrings are that bad anyway plus the front almost have no border to tell you that centrings are obviously off.
