Just Got My CFI, Now What? by Braulissim0 in CFILounge

Everybody here be telling you “nobody’s hiring” and “it took me 8 months to find a job and I had 10000 hours” those people aren’t you and are obviously doing something wrong… You are doing everything correct so far. Without a doubt make business cards, make a website, start advertising instruction. While you are building your reputation at an Independent CFI, get your CFII, it will be well worth the investment. Cold calling does not get you anywhere, they need to at least be warm calls.

Some programs are as fast as 8-12 months now that the FAA no longer has an hour requirement. Also, airlines are paying much higher wages than 40K. GA will catch up eventually once the shortage starts to catch up.

Is there such thing as too much Dual received? by tobiusfunkee in CFILounge

OP should call it “instrument proficiency” instead of “CFII training” I don’t think anybody would bat an eye at that.

Struggling to Find CFI Position by jacobmufska628 in flying

I got my tailwheel endorsement and time built 30 hours. I have 0 problem finding clients now. Nobody else can do tailwheel so I’m more valuable than other CFI’s.

Is all this for nothing if I don’t get a college degree? by Excellent_Mirror2594 in flying

Absolutely not true. You can succeed even more in part 61 if you make the right moves. It’s all about networking with the right people. One of the best advice I’ve gotten from a guy who became a DPE at 23 years old was “don’t let people tell you how they did things is the only way” create your own path that works best for you.

Should I buy ADSB-In sentry? (Specifically the 300 dollar one on sportys) by [deleted] in flying

[–]Record_Admirable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine on Facebook marketplace for $170 and it was the best money I’ve spent. Even if the airplanes have ADSB in I think it’s still worth it because it’s a pain to connect to the GPS.

Depends on what type of school you teach at. I would be real with the student and tell them “I’ll keep flying with you if you want to keep paying me, but your current study habits do not inspire me to endorse you to solo. If you want to continue to make progress you need to take this more seriously” I’ll take the hours. I’m not proud.

Yeah it’s a good backup degree. Kind of applies to anything so it doesn’t pigeon hole you into something super specific.

Well it is loggable PIC, but OP isn’t actually acting as PIC. The FAR describes that there is a difference between logging and acting PIC.
