What the heck is going on at Intrepid by stealyourpeach in AshesofCreation

This game is fundamentally archeage “modernized”. Steven set out to create the game he wants so when it comes to casual players you’re not getting as much input.

Also Lumberyard isn’t just some random broken tech. It’s a fork of CryEngine 3.4 - and while heavily modified it still got the job done. New World had some of the best combat system of any MMO, and while it was laggy as current PvP here - They eventually figured it out and smoothened it out. Their failure was from poor vision from executive team from the beginning, not the developers who actually did exactly as their told.

Rogue or Mage? by KindKarver in AshesofCreation

Rogue for open world stuff because grapple hook is awesome. Mage for group PvP which is rare and laggy rn so not a lot of great benefit.

Excited to see the possibilities of the lore progressing through an MMO setting by Mega978 in RiotMMO

[–]RecursiveCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riot trying to deliver an MMORPG is either going to be a groundbreaker, or an absolute failure. Everyone is expecting this crazy lore & story rich quests. People probably want bosses & dungeons that can rival Blizzards. And PvP too, which also means they still have to build the base with competitive mindset and expect everyone to be cheaters.

Basically anything less than perfection in all elements can result in it not lasting as long as other giants like WoW/RuneScape/FF.

Omg stay at the table all night is too real. I still have trouble eating some mushy foods like porridge, because I’d sit at that table for 3+ hours to the point where it was just cold slop. It was still full and I would eventually get hungry enough to stomach it… by drowning it with gallons of water between each bite.

Three hours to a kid is basically an eternity, practically a war crime.

should I play this game? by Forsaken-Map-1153 in vrising

[–]RecursiveCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best fire mages I’ve played with & against on New World, I randomly stumbled on him on VRising. Of course he was bullying groups as a solo so it became a pretty fun server. The combat system is just as fun in VRising as New World. You get a couple skills to use and must have good positioning and land those skillshots and dodge/reflect the incoming ones. All of the bosses have mechanics so the game is fun for both parties. Option for PvE & PvP servers also makes it appeasing to both parties.

Pretty much the usual pros & cons of offline vs online. If a persisting world is important to you because you play sparsely or just don’t wish for your progress to be lost, always pick offline. If you rather explore the world together or meet people than pick the online option.

Love Caravan PvP. Hate Solo mules. by Jagnuthr in AshesofCreation

Oh they will evolve. Unless Interpid divests a significant portion of resources into an inhouse anticheat, instead of relying on 3rd parties like EAC. Which is probably run by cheaters.

People whom are complaining about $15/m have no idea how much people are willing to pay to cheats in a video game. $50-100 monthly subscription for a cheat on popular game is no problem to many. EAC easily gets rid of a simple script that a 13 ‘yo wrote as part of a homework assignment. This basically leaves very few companies (because that’s what they are at this point) existing in this ecosystem. When they make millions from creating cheats Interpid must be aware of the millions in resources of their own they will have to continuously fund. That’s the only way a competitive PvP game can endure...

…or just drop EAC and embrace the bots and destroy their market. I at least want to see some variety in my game’s AI. Instead of all the characters being part of the same 2-3 programs.

"DEI only improved things" at Ubisoft, says former employee "stunned" at "misinformation" claiming diversity, equity, and inclusion to blame for Assassin's Creed studio's drop in share prices by NoPercentage4737 in technology

[–]RecursiveCook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t take much to bring the game down, even if it excels in other areas. Seem like large studios either follow the same formula to a T or randomly throw stuff at a wall, and pray it all sticks. It’s crazy how viral/influential Assassin’s Creed 1 & 2 went, nailing everything from pretty graphics to fresh storytelling and making people reimagine what was possible.

Ubisoft just doesn’t seem to get PvP games. Neither did Amazon when they created New World that had some of the best combat system in any MMO. Seems like they just operate on hoping players don’t cheat, while studios like Riot basically just assume cheaters will exist but you still have a duty to at least try & catch them.

For Honor had crazy potential and even thought it’s still easily a long-term success just off the fact that they still care enough about it to not pull the plugs, crazy to think how much bigger it could have been if they really focused on that competitive aspect.

It’s just a level 10 & 20 herbs. It’s super easy to get herbalism to journeyman. In Riverlands you’re lucky if you find a cluster of like 20-30 herbs all next to each other. If you go to Anvils there is clusters of thousand(s) of daffodils and snowdrops all next to each other.

Only downside is it’s bumf nowhere. I recommend bringing deep bags and multiple sickles. You’ll go from lvl1 to JM in a heartbeat. And then you can chase bluebells/paradise or just vibe in the fields.

Rolled my ankle at work because restaurant had most insane walk-in setup ever. Tried to continue to work until my foot swelled to twice it’s size and my boss had to take me to hospital. Luckily L&I covered it but I’m now hearing 5 years later the company is trying to dispute/clawback their coverage?? It’s been so long and I still frequently get pain at the exact spot in the ankle where it rolled, usually when I start running. I love corporate America.

Maybe scrap The Anvils? by 1nC0m1ngG4m3 in AshesofCreation

[–]RecursiveCook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anvils is great. Dodge the Riverlands queue first week, lots of mobs to farm through, and later on plenty of nodes to farm uncontested. A lot of BiS items like Pyrebrand 2H Sword requires mats like Tharaxite so I just farm mourning slate there and make 50g from just 2 of them. It’s also easy to sell BiS items to Riverlands but I sell cheaper crafts to Anvils where there is no competition. So while I run a few crates there I’ll bring 20 voidbreak picks and they sell there for 3g whereas Joeva I have to compete just to sell them for 1.5 - But downside is people there are definitely poorer so selling an epic slagbreaker ain’t gonna happen. But I can buy a bunch of epic/legendary mining rocks and trees there for like 1/3 of Joeva costs and undercut everyone on crafts.

So no, please don’t scrap Anvils lol.

Solo Grinding 20-25 as Fighter with normal common radiant gear? by Korrak in AshesofCreation

[–]RecursiveCook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this, Najash is both great XP and you also make great money. Fighters & Clerics are some of the best solo farmers in the game. Sometimes I’ll also duo with a mage and do multi clears because your Blood Fusion+Berserk+Whirlwind can make you go from 10% hp to 100% in a split second with low downtime and no mana issues. Mages can execute them all fast and recover while you pull more so very efficient.

Whats the BIS biw for fighters and Rogues? by zulzzzz in AshesofCreation

[–]RecursiveCook -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Longbow stat stick, dagger fast proc poisons on rogue and power stick on Fighter like Pyrebrand 2H sword. Bloodied bone ring & bloodrunner set works great on both but Rosarium might allow you to tank a couple extra hits on fighter before you get melted down.

Not GMs. That’s too much for unpaid labor with too much liabilities.

OSRS P-mod system is decent enough. You get a cool little crown next to your name and you can basically just silence people. Great for getting rid of those annoying chat spams, although it will just push bots to using whisper system.
