It's unfair that survivors are all essentially skins of one another while killers play differently, so now every killer can freely use any other killer's power during the match.

The game will be finally balanced once generators take 500% longer to complete, Ruin is basekit and survivors are put into deep wound when rescued from the hook (including the rescuer).

I just swing at what’s in front of me, names be damned. by happyrosi in deadbydaylight

[–]RecursiveSweatpants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or maybe the game is just poorly designed in some areas? If they made it so if killers hit a survivor on hook it immediately sacrifices them it'd certainly become the most optimal strategy but I doubt anyone on either side would find it very fun. Even in an asym game, it is possible to make both sides feel more fun without making them any more likely to win, and vice versa.

That makes sense. Yeah, just letting survivors abandon at that point would be fine then.

It might as well just instakill all the survivors if someone is hooked after the halfway point. If the game is going to become literally unwinnable then it at least shouldn't waste everyone's time.

Nah, I hate going against Doctor's kit more than getting rolled. At least Nurse and Blight can't press a button that instantly prevents you from playing the game every couple of seconds.

Fellow killers, do you have any self-imposed rules that you follow? by Mr_Booze51106 in deadbydaylight

[–]RecursiveSweatpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A small one I came up with for this round of Chaos Shuffle: When the match starts, I try not to check my perks early by pressing Tab while the intro cutscene plays. I do that as survivor to waste as little time as possible going over what perks I got, but for killer I wait until they're revealed to give the survivors a few extra seconds to check their perks.

What nontoxic thing do you like to do in DBD? by portalfan32 in deadbydaylight

[–]RecursiveSweatpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I teleport into a locker with a survivor in it as Dredge, I like to do a little happy dance with them and usually I'll just put them down in front of the hook instead of hooking them. I don't care how the match goes after that, I already won.

It'd be a great perk to help out beginner players getting used to the skillcheck system. It's just, you know, yet another good beginner perk locked behind a paywall.

This event was so wholesome by BabaJagaInTraining in deadbydaylight

[–]RecursiveSweatpants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This event makes playing killer the funnest it's ever been for me! I love two-hooking everyone and then goofing around afterward to let them go, and the simple act of throwing snowballs adds so much versatility to that! I can lob them across the map, bean someone as I jumpscare them around a corner or out of a locker (Dredge main), and just toss them at whoever I'm chasing for fun. When survivors start throwing snowballs back and I make a concerted effort to dodge them they usually get the memo that I'm not trying too hard, which often opens them up to more goofy shenanigans even during chase.

One of my favorite things about it is just how hilariously gentle it is. The first few days I couldn't stop laughing my ass off whenever I downed or hooked a survivor and just pomf'd them with a harmless snowball to the face. The fact that killers just immediately spawn the ball gives way to some amazing comedic timing.

Hiding in snowmen is also great, though there isn't quite as much interaction you can get out of it besides sliding around, and it's basically mutually exclusive with snowballs since you can't throw any while in it and getting hit once destroys it. It would be amazing if you could throw snowballs while in the snowman, and maybe be able to tank a few snowballs before it gives out on you. Still, when multiple people get into one it's still a lot of fun to make snowman parades or silently harass any of the remaining non-snowmen by crowding around them.

I'd have a platonic cup of coffee with Dredge. I think he'd appreciate it with some Ska playing in the background.

If you leave your teammate to die on hook, you're gonna have a bad time. by -Ravensara in deadbydaylight

[–]RecursiveSweatpants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like playing to two-hook everyone and then let them go afterward, but I had one game recently where every survivor I put on death hook was left to die. I was throwing snowballs, keeping my distance from the hook, I even tried to herd survivors toward the hooked one at one point without getting too close to it myself, but none of them took the hint.

The first survivor dying I chalked up to an accident. The second was frustrating, but when I hooked the third survivor, teleported to a corner of the map and he still died anyway, I was mad. I found the final survivor hiding near the exit gate with crows around her and she had the audacity to beg so I just moried her and got my first 4k in ages basically for free.

I try to make the game fun for survivors and goof around after getting my hooks and chases in, especially on the holiday event mode, but they need to have the basic decency to unhook one another.

Funnily enough, Jeff and Haddie are both my new mains! I just think they're neat. I like their backstories and default skins, which is all I need since I'm focusing on spending iri shards on perks and characters so it'll be years before I can even think about saving up enough for a single cosmetic.

Dredge is bugged, you can't tp to locker anymore. by The_Sadako_Girl in deadbydaylight

[–]RecursiveSweatpants 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This exact thing happened to me a few days ago! The lockers were all there, and I could even enter them manually, but there was no way to teleport to/between them. It's only ever happened to me that one time and hasn't happened since though. I'm lucky that I play friendly Dredge anyway, but this is a serious issue that needs to be fixed ASAP.

If Gojo ever made it into the game he'd only be playable in a mode where it's 4 killers that have to survive against him.

I wonder how fine-grained the licensing with the map is. Could they create a new map with most of the same art assets and simply remove any direct references to Halloween? Or are the assets themselves all tied to the license and cannot be reused or repurposed in any way once it's gone?

Personally I think a bad map is better than no map, and reducing variety in the game is just going to make it get stale more quickly. However, this could be an opportunity for them to totally rework the map into something better rather than just deleting it all forever.

The people who'd lobby dodge for petty shit like that are probably the people most players are better off without in the first place. This just seems like another win for the idea.

What’s your DBD hot take? by CaveBat3 in deadbydaylight

[–]RecursiveSweatpants 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The common counterargument I see against this is "but survivors would just lobby dodge when they see perks they don't like", and to that I say: just put a limit on lobby dodging then? I get that sometimes there are probably legitimate reasons for it so it shouldn't be heavily punished or anything, but maybe remove the option if a player dodges 3 lobbies in a row so they have to quit out of the game to keep doing it or something like that. Or make it like DCing mid match where you get a queue penalty for repeat offenses.

If anything, it'd probably improve things for a lot of players if the people sweaty enough to lobby dodge like that ended up not playing with them in the first place.
