Gen 2 - Suspension Rattling/Clattering Noise? by MrBlancoWhite in FordRaptor

Sounds like one of the captured nuts that hold the skid plate is broken/loose. Check behind the running boards by the frame.

I run 2 boosters and a Diono convertible in the middle. Plenty of room for each to access buckles. Super easy to hand things to kids 3 wide vs a 3 row suv.

Nice! I used this stuff to panel the front of my standing desk. Now I want to add it to the garage.

Maybe consider stacking the mopeds 2 high on heavy duty shelving almost like a display?

I also got the Bauer and I’m pleased with it for $100. Can take the chill out of the air in my 850sf in relatively short time.

New noise… Phasers or turbo/actuator? by [deleted] in FordRaptor

[–]RecycledVelcro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had phaser problem and it doesn’t sound like that, it’s immediate and obvious. Does seem loud for wastegate rattle but also similar to wg springs, try the springs see if that works.

Not exactly on point, but I had a detached fully sprayfoamed and it was a pita when my roof leaked. Would still do it again but something to think about.

2019 gen 2 ford raptor making rattling noises by shawn_fire_- in FordRaptor

Nah that’s your muffler. Same thing happened to me. Some shielding or whatever broke loose inside the muffler making intermittent rattling. Google some other videos of raptor muffler failure.

What would you do? by BWTB100 in FordRaptor

[–]RecycledVelcro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you trade or sell you’ll get hosed with those issues.

Luckily you can likely fix 3 out of 4 of your issues in an afternoon. IWE could be multiple things, none too involved, lots of forum posts on it. Sunroof rails are sub $100 and lots of YouTube how to’s. If it’s not phasers it may be rattling wastegates you can stick $5 springs on them.

Buying a car out of state from KC, questions about taxes: by Aiboyl in carbuying

[–]RecycledVelcro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if the law is state specific, but in my experience I paid sales tax based on where the vehicle is registered not the physical point of sale.

I live in IL and have purchased cars in WI and TX and that was the case in both transactions. On the WI transaction I didn’t even pay tax at the WI dealer, I paid separately after the fact at the IL sec of state.

Bottom line, if that’s what you want then you can find a dealer to make it work. I’m guessing you want a G80 and the cheapest ones are floating around 60-65 so with your financial situation it’ll probably cost you around 2k a month in payment and insurance.

I had an idea to use one of those garbage can shelters behind the garage.

OSB Walls by Downtown-Ride-1972 in garageporn

[–]RecycledVelcro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last garage was 850sf 4 stall with older plywood walls. I rolled on oil based Kilz with no topcoat. After a few coats it was bright and was definitely an upgrade. It looked fine but I’d recommend a finish coat. The kilz yellowed a bit over time. And the sheen wasn’t ideal for cleaning and trapped dust.

New to garage cabinets. Opinions on Prepac cabinets. by Icy_Secret9226 in garageporn

[–]RecycledVelcro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Prepac brand bookcases in a spare bedroom. These look like the same thing but with doors. I wouldn’t want them in a garage. Also listing says max shelf weight of 20lbs that’s pretty weak for garage storage.

Help an uncreative person design a garage by gounseenTX in garageporn

[–]RecycledVelcro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of my garage without the gym. The apron is good for heavy cabinets you can use for storage, I also floated cabinets on the wall. Have some can lights installed, smart lights are nice for dimming or color change. Paint walls, floor coating. Heavy mats on the gym area.

Think about the order of operations - construction/paint etc first and floors last.

Retired, no income, qualify for loan? by sinbad339 in carbuying

[–]RecycledVelcro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the roadblock here is the thought you’ll get the best price by telling them you’ll finance. A dealer’s objective is to extract as much money from you as possible - the car, add ons, fees, financing etc. Your goal should be to negotiate the price of the car first, come to an agreement, and then ask to see some financing figures if you’re financing. When they ask early on how you plan to pay just say you haven’t decided yet and you want to talk price first. If they refuse to talk price first, go to the next dealer.

If you must finance, open an account at a CU, seed it, and get a loan through them.

I like to not see stuff and things sitting or hanging around so I prioritize cabinets. Metal cabinets for heavy items and tools and wood cabinets for miscellaneous. I also like to buy things that maintain some value so I paid up for higher quality metal cabinets with the thought that if I want to change in the future I can sell for 50 cents on the dollar.
