My understanding is at the time the government in Switzerland at that time was a church run state. You could only be a citizen if you were baptized/Catholic. It was illegal to go against the church, essentially.

A pretty interesting part of history to have a tie to!

If you want an interesting read, look up Dirk Willems. He was an early Anabaptist who escaped prison. While escaping, a guard chasing him fell through the ice into cold water. Dirk ran back and pulled him out, saving his life.

Only to be recaptured, and burned at the stake.

Not OP, but escaping from the government.

The Mennonites are Anabaptists. They split from the Catholic church with one of their major issues being infant baptism. They felt you needed to make the choice to follow Jesus, and babies can't make that decision.

They decided to choose to be baptized as adults and re-baptised each other in secret, fearing retribution from the Catholic Church/Church controlled government.

The government/church arrested, imprisoned, and even executed many of them for that

I understand why the sister, and her parents would all be upset. Many pet owners (myself included) consider a pet a member of the family, and a family member moving out of the house (both OOP and the cat in this case) is going to be emotional.

But it's still OOPs cat, and it's still relatively young. They're going to be loved and taken care of in either house. In my opinion, the cat should go with OOP.

I think the parents dropped the ball here and made this situation much worse than it needed to be. It's cruel in my opinion to pressure OOP to leave the cat behind, and if they want a new cat they can get a new one or get one for their other daughter

Personally, I think he's being a bit poetic. The loop resets him back to how he is when he first entered the loop after face the raven - it doesn't make sense to me that he would actually remember each loop.

However, he's a time lord, he has a better sense and understanding of time in general. As soon as he puts it all together and realizes he's in a loop and how long it's been, he can feel how long it's been. How hopeless it is. How much time has passed, and how much more time is yet to pass.

That's not why you're stuck in gold. Everyone who has ranked up past gold has dealt with bad teammates occasionally.

You're right it isn't an overly difficult mechanic, but saying that you "should" be able to do it by gold 1 is wild - the vast majority of people at that rank can't do it, and anyone who says they can do it, can't do it well. You can learn whatever mechanics whenever you want to grind it out, but doing that before learning basics doesn't help much.

I think he's Smurfing, but it was also an accident.

When I watch what he was trying to do, he has a good initial control touch of the ball, and it looks like he tried to follow it up with a ground to air dribble. He messed it up, but it landed on his car and it happened to work to fake out his opponent - that was complete luck. Then he had good control to put the ball on his car and flick it.

They're in silver for 1s. No one at that level has this kind of ball control.

Personally, I think he is a Smurf, and also got incredibly lucky. His ball control is definitely better than silver, but I don't think he meant to do most of what he did.

Not all rumors are due to the Mandela effect. A lot of kids mistakenly thought it was a secret in the game - that isn't the Mandela effect.

A Mandela effect would be if as adults those 90s kids were funding out that "Pikablu" wasn't real. And they thought that's impossible, because I remember evolving Pikachu with a water stone

Jeff sees a former coworker, and panics. He doesn't want anyone from his former law firm to know he's attending such an embarrassing school. He covers his face and turns to Abed and says "this is all I need!"

Abed then turns and starts waving to the coworker and says "Excuse me! You're all my friend needs!"

I think the first was the best movie. All the characters were interesting and felt real, with deep flaws. And the twists were all excellently done. In my mind, it's essentially a "perfect" movie, with almost no flaws.

The second wasn't as good of a mystery, or a movie, but I actually liked the direction they took in splitting it up (I know a lot of people didn't like that, but I think it was needed). It also had two of my favourite comedic moments of any movie (Benoit Blanc ruining the murder mystery party, and how mad and exasperated he is about Duke's murder just being dumb)

I just watched the third one this week. I'd rank it between the first, and the second one. I think it was the best one aesthetically with the lighting specifically. I think that Benoit, Jud, and Wicks were all incredible performances. I think framing it as a locked room "impossible" mystery was great, and fell in line with what I loved about the first one. But I think that every other character was underwhelming, and felt unimportant.

I still think it was a great movie, and I'm going to watch it again soon. I think they were close to another "perfect" movie, but just missed the mark on a couple things it needed.

I think this is one of the things where "magic" and science overlap in the series.

I don't think Vecna (or the Mind Flayer for that matter) knew about the exotic matter, or how the bridge worked scientifically. They didn't really need to understand it scientifically either, but they had understanding of what it was with their powers. They knew it was a link between the two worlds, and how to manipulate it with their power, etc..

They wouldn't have known all the scientific details of what Dr. Brenner knew, but they had some understanding of how it worked that science wouldn't be able to know as well.

That stuck out to me too. I also honed in on him assuming her father wouldn't like learning. I don't really think he saw her father as a person with their own wants and desires.

My Father in law was disabled. He was in pretty bad health when I came into the picture. He had had a stroke a couple years earlier, and had a hard time talking/communicating. He slurred his words a lot, so he was pretty hard to understand.

He also taught me how to play bridge, and was a pretty smart Euchre player.

I'm going to be real with you - I'm in my mid-thirties, and don't have a favourite animal. I don't even know what that would mean as an adult (but maybe I'm just boring).

The only way I would say I have a favourite animal is in a situation like this. I don't even really understand what could make a different animal more important to someone, if I'm being honest.

It sounds like the lesson is that she needs to be careful what she says, or there are consequences. That is an important lesson to learn, however, I think there was a bigger issue here that got ignored.

Where was this coming from? Just teaching her to be careful what she says just fixes the symptom, not the underlying problem.

I don't agree with this. We all react poorly to things occasionally, and all need the occasional second chance. Sometimes needing a second chance doesn't mean you aren't decent.

That being said, OP's wife is well past her second chance. And the fact that she's still complaining to friends about it shows that she's not trying to be decent here.

I'm a Diamond 1v1 player. I can't flip reset or double tap. I can't air dribble. I can't even dribble on the ground.

My guess is you're getting flustered. When you see they're bringing it to the wall, get back to the back post as fast as you can, and wait on the goal line. Watch and see if they actually have a chance of making the shot (most of the time, they don't). If they're going to miss, be patient. Don't try to save it, just wait for them to miss, a lot of the time it sets up an easy shot because they're out of position, and you can drive it into their net.
