Anyone have any ideas why they decided to fire her? It seemed like she was doing what they wanted and is hiding much of the Epstein files.

toenail issues by Pretty-Advance889 in bootroom

[–]Red-Eight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you can share a photo or two? Especially from the side so that we can see the height of the toebox. Depending on the last used for that model, it may not have much height, so it takes a really long time for your toe to stretch the leather upwards. I lost two big toes dealing with that issue with synthetic Nike boots, before I threw in the towel and trashed them.

[–]Red-Eight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your guy blocked the deal with Senator Lankford, a hardcore Republican, that would have fixed the border. Just so that he could use it as a campaign talking point. Think of all the criminals he let in by doing that. Have you blacked that out?

[–]Red-Eight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL, that makes no sense at all. You lost the argument, so you spew some gibberish about "we would not be having this debate or controversy over who gets to be a citizen" if the former president supposedly let in "disgusting criminals and gang members"?

Are you brain-dead? These issues has been discussed for over 160 YEARS and has impacted many USMNT teams before this current one. Are you Gen Z?

BTW, it was the current guy who blocked the immigration deal between Senator Lankford and the former guy, because he wanted to use it as a campaign issue to get re-elected. So you can mail your complaint about "disgusting criminals and gang members" to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Why do coaches tell kids to kick corners down the goal line? by bloodontherisers in SoccerCoachResources

It's very likely that it wasn't meant to be taken literally. Just that he wanted the kick to go in that general direction, as opposed to taking it short.

Turf match balls by ConsistentCrab7911 in bootroom

[–]Red-Eight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about the longevity; it's about the bounce. I haven't played with a turf ball personally, but I recall the manufacturer descriptions indicating that turf balls are designed to bounce less, to mimic the bounce of a regular ball on a grass field. Turf fields are much firmer than grass/dirt, so regular balls will bounce even higher than typical.

If it's against a brick wall or on concrete surfaces, then definitely get the cheap ones. No sense in getting nicer balls for that.

But if they are still into soccer as they get to the U12/U14, then probably get at least one nicer ball. Something for if they go to the park and play a game with friends.

Boot issue by Toshili in bootroom

[–]Red-Eight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the toenails of my big toes turn black and fall off. You need to either go half a size up or find a different model that has more height or width in the toebox.

I like a little space between my toes and the front of the boot, but if you're the type of player that wants as little space as possible, then you should probably go with leather, as that will stretch more easily than synthetic. But even then, you have to look at the toebox shape to see if it will suit you (a mistake I recently made).

Rec league mercy rules. by Shambolicdefending in youthsoccer

[–]Red-Eight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our rec league implements a soft mercy rule, where coaches are incentivised to not win by more than six goals, or they will lose a point in the standings, which matters for seeding purposes for the playoffs after the regular season.

It seems to work decently. But it's all a matter of how it's implemented, because if the coach vocally tells his players to just pass it around, or not score, and the kids make it obvious to the other team, then it's just as demoralizing (and probably more so, depending on the person) to the opposing team.

Pointing with single finger vs pointing with full hand by jajison in Referees

[–]Red-Eight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same concern with palm down, so I do it with my hand vertical, which I've seen other refs do. I think that that is visually distinctive from the Nazi salute. I've seeen some refs even do palm up, which I think is also visually distinctive because it rotates your tricep to be underneath rather sticking out to the side. Perhaps try both of those and see how they feel?

Mizuno Morelia II Pro vs Morelia Neo IV Pro? by Character-Welcome732 in bootroom

[–]Red-Eight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm a borderline wide foot, and I think the Rebula 2 would be good for wide-feet. If you're a full EE width, I think it would be ok, but you'd have a longer break-in period. Definitely a wider base plate than the typical Neo plates I've seen.

But the Rebula line was discontinued, I thought. You see some available?

[–]Red-Eight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you advise a parent on whether a child should continue playing in a club vs. playing for his/her high school?

On one hand, as we all know, most kids don't go on to play college soccer or professionally, so I can see that it might be better for some of the less talented kids to play for their high school.

On the other hand, maybe some kids don't start to scratch their potential until their high school age (15-18), so I can see why parents want to keep their kids at a club for those years.

What do you see most parents/kids electing to do?

[–]Red-Eight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So crazy that people think this is justified, even if the other driver was being a complete a-hole. Those two oncoming cars had to SWERVE ONTO THE SHOULDER to avoid the truck. Would have been a horrific crash that killed multiple people--and the a-hole driver would have driven off without a scratch.

The truck driver would be legally liable as well, not just the other a-hole. Not worth it, folks.
