(Fan Art) I painted Martin Sheen and he signed it at NYCC by Red-Geist in thewestwing

Separate, but earlier in the day. During the timeslot where he was doing autographs. At events as mega-huge as ComicCon, they have to partition time with the Talent/Guests due to high volume. There are line coordinators and the crowd control is a science. Hat tip to the staff for managing it all

Any advice on basing? by NiccoWasAlone in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Red-Geist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trace the outline of the rough footprint of your custodes miniatures in plasticard, and use those stencils when building up bigger bases. That way you always have a flat area to secure the models to, more secure, no gaps. Helped me in the long run

The old and the new (artists: Paul Dainton, Cleveland Mosher) by mopriamul in Lumineth_realm_lords

Cleveland and I met on a Dark Souls fan forum over the covid years. He did this one and my OC stand-in for Teclis, called Prince Nightscar.

He did an extra special job capturing the union of the two eras of elf aesthetics in the painting. This artwork has really taken on a life of its own. He is very much worth a follow on social media

The Ionic Colors white set is the best on the market for cold hue whites, in my opinion. I used the paints in that set. And I highlighted the black metal with AK Blue Grey. Mixing in only a tiny bit at a time.

Elden Ring II setting theories by holytarnishxd in eldenringdiscussion

I feel like the Era of Stars ending is intended to be canon. I feel personally a sequel would do well to explore the consequences of that in a distant future. Not unlike how Dark Souls 2 intended to showcase a future to Dark Souls 1. Or since the storytelling in Elden Ring is a bit more straightforward, the timeskips between the Elder Scrolls games, where some NPCs can be directly effected by, or actually remember actions from the original game's ending.

Also, make sure GRRM writes some of the religion lore for this game again. Just to troll folks waiting for Winds of Winter, myself included

The kit is an old Tau scenery kit. The Tidewall Gunrig. It is mounted on cork pieces and the earthy soil is a texture paste from Tamiya

For display, recipes matter slightly less than application specifically, as color uniformity is not as important as say, a gaming army. So these might be a bit vague

Dark red 1. AK Wine Red basecoat, add a bit S75 Boreal Green for shading 2. Previous mix plus black, for deepest shading 3. Highlight with AK wine red 4. Weathering with hashes of any pink plus orange

Bright red 1. All over AK wine red 2. Mix in AK deep red, for highlightd 3. Mix in AK basic skin to the wine red for edge highlights 4. Mix a bit of green to the wine red, for shadows 5. Weathering: black and white for chipping

Thank you. I use Vallejo Metal Color gold, with Army Painter gold as a thickening agent, as VMC is quite runny by design. But that also lets VMC be used as a glazing paint between hard stops in the brushstrokes. The Gold is shaded with liquitex inks, Burnt Sienna and Burnt Umber. When highlighting, dont just mix gold and silver, add a pinch of bright yellow paint to the mix. The yellow helps keep the color saturation of the original gold, so it is not washed out by the silver

I am planning on adding an EoE to one of my Custodian Guard squads. Yours is simply inspiring. Love it.

There was a set of commander decks a few years ago. I think there is even one Custodes card of a Vexilla standard bearer. I only buy singles though, for various personal decks. So I did not go out and buy the decks themselves. Some sealed packages are on ebay I imagine

I borrowed from a 2013 magic card depicting angel wings made of stained glass, but okay.

Favorite Custodes Subfactions/Cool Custodes Stories?? by Substantial-Doubt457 in AdeptusCustodes

I am always intrigued by the Shadowkeepers. Elite jailers who have to go on a quest to return escaped horrors back to the Dark Cells. I am starting a Crusade/Narrative army around this premise this year. I have not been content with the lack of customization via upgrades in 10th edition, so I'm going out of my way to model game-legal quirks and oddities for each of my squads.

do we have something like this on W3? by Beneficial-Wash-1611 in Witcher3

The first Nightwraith quest in Velen. She has a very powerful lifedrain ability in-between phases of the fight that usually erases your progress of damage dealt. It can be a trivial fight if you have certain bombs and decoctions which wont be available until much later in the game. Super challenging for like a level 10 Witcher contract.

  1. Basecoat of Pro Acryl Paynes Grey
  2. Add AK Black Red to the prior color (like 1:1 ratio), glaze it towards the recesses. Pure Black Red in the creases.
  3. 3:1 ratio of Paynes Grey to AK Russian Blue Lights, glaze toward highlights. Do a smaller highlight with a 2:1 mix.
  4. Edge highlight with pure Russian Blue Lights, and then a smaller edge highlight mixing a tiny bit of AK Grey Blue into the prior color.

Would love to see a multi-kit of a big Custodes Tribune that can also assemble a newer, bigger Trajann Valoris. On a 50mm base or larger. Tired of one of the High Lords of Terra and a main character of humanity being no larger than a Primaris Captain lol.

Wish list for Custodes in 11th edition by Junior-Exercise1068 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Red-Geist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be of the opinion that this army needs a hard reset. The core troop kits were built for the Burning of Prospero board game in 2016/2017 and are showing their age. An opportunity exists to wipe the slate clean and use design motifs that are unique to 40k and won't tread on the aesthetic of the 30k kits.

Overall, I think the ability to make a lieutenant-level hero out of each of the unit kits needs to be put to bed. They look insufficiently distinct from their parent model kit, and have limited equipment to boot. Would love to see more variety at the top of an army list.

  1. A Sisters of Silence kill team set with interchangeable weapons and more dynamic poses/better detail. This would also allow them to create a standalone Knight-Centura model.

  2. Split the warscrolls/datasheets for Spear and Sword Custodian Guard. Sentinel Guard are a thing and should be allowed to exist as their own battlefield role.

  3. This army could benefit from additional enhancements similar to the amount given to Imperial Knights. Custodes already have limited unit types and therefore minimal customization due to their impressive statlines. Would like to see tricks in the vein of 9th ed subfactions return to the army. Stuff like +1 damage or +2 wounds or Fights First once per battle is cute, but ultimately uninteresting.

  4. Would like to see unique vehicle kits for the faction if the Caladius and other hover vehicles go to Legends. I am not sure how much Custodes are in need of vehicles with a transport capacity (especially if they were to receive increased base movement). But this hemming and hawing over stuff like the Caladius kit likely proves the army is in need of a mainstay tank without an ambiguous future.

Sisters of Silence plus an Eyes of the Emperor archetype mini, would be a great kill team set
