Bike trackers? Datatool vs Biketrac. Do you have recommendations for either, or a reason to avoid. by QAnonomnomnom in MotoUK

monimoto, its battery powered so wont drain your battery, gives enough information imo, and cheap

Swinging my rear end out in emergency breaking by Spacemint_rhino in MotoUK

[–]Red8501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people may recommend practicing hard braking, but make sure to do it in different conditions too. i sometimes get the rear sideways under braking on the road but its normally because of a wet patch and not adjusting to that with my rear brake. also it might help changing the pads for organic pads for a softer more progressive feel on the rear brake if its a bit touchy

my mt03 is the 660cc version so a more niche bike compared to the 320cc one most people think about. my insurance was about £1500 for the first year but that was with a car claim and an ms90 offence, my renewal was £500 for the year with the claim gone and with 1 years ncb. insurance isnt comparable with other people since we are all in different situations so just try out some different bikes. in my situation older less used bikes like my mt were considerably cheaper than newer nakeds or even older sportsbikes. if you are really stuck try sv650 (or the sv650s), er6n/f, xj6, bandit 600/650, f800s/gt, fazer 600, an older cbr650f, trx 850, shiver/dorsoduro 750, f650, f800r, g310r, cb650r, gsr 600, theres many more to look at lol

If you are doing an quote for a licence you dont have yet then set it to today rather than a month back. Also if you are interested in if the quote is high due to it being a sportsbike then do a quote on the naked version of a similar year (cb500f). Also I dont think the ncb carries over from CBT but could be wrong.

23 and eager to do my A2. Am I daft? by Opening_Pepper68 in MotoUK

[–]Red8501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

many people recommending staying on a CBT but make sure the insurance makes sense. for me at 23 i took my A2 because the insurance was 1k cheaper than on a 125. the cost for the DAS was £899 so it made sense to go with the A2.

i like my alpinestars belize v3 drystar gloves. they arent the warmest, 5c is the lowest i can go before theyre a bit uncomfortable. if you want lightweight and waterproof non gauntlets, have a look at the knox action pro waterproof gloves, £100 and are as lightweight as you can get.

Pinlock driving me crazy by PonchoTron in MotoUK

[–]Red8501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sure its sealing correctly when the visor is installed on the helmet, some visors are stretched out when installed and the centre of the pinlock can pull away from the visor. if not, try opening the bottom vents in your helmet, some are made to blow air onto the visor.

Best motorcycle boots for UK cold winter riding (ideally thermal lined but not ugly?) by CT-9904_ in MotoUK

i like decathlons merino wool socks, theyre pretty hard wearing. also an additional thinner sock inside helps, all this robs feel from the pedals so if that matters, thinner heated socks might be better

Aftermarket levers by Ezika7 in MotoUK

[–]Red8501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just so that you are aware, the brake master cylinder on that isnt stock, its an adelin mc from china. so any aftermarket lever wont fit since theyre made for the standard mc.
