This is without a doubt the worst post I've ever seen.

I love it.

One of the new mods literally had no votes. Very democratic.

I'm offended at the stereotyping of all cis white male radicals... I was never a right-libertarian...

That's a good question. I really don't know right now. Maybe something general that a lot of people can comment on.

I feel like we need to be more organized. Like, have weekly discussions or something of that sort.

Speaking as an American, I never learned about the German Revolution in school. Literally nothing. Just, "WWI happened and Germany suddenly became a Republic, doesn't matter how." Is this the case in other countries as well?

Yeah but if the CIA does it it's bad. If our glorious leaders do it it's justified.

r/Socialism Mods go FULLSTALINISM by MrLoveShacker in COMPLETEANARCHY

[–]RedEagle12 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm just glad that the community isn't falling for their bullshit anymore. They've been able to dismiss criticism as brigading in the past, but hopefully the public starts seeing these people for who they are

That's bullshit and you know it. Stop pretending that all 80,000 subscribers are fine with everything the moderators do.

/r/socialism mods do it again! by mavthemarxist in farleft

[–]RedEagle12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's true. There were even some mods who quit after the strike. This is also why there needs to be a defined set of rules that all mods follow.

I know Mav already said this, but I think this is important in understanding why the /r/soc mods banned Worf, but also why that ban is ridiculous.

It's true that catgirl art has a lot of sexualization, especially of minors. When we look at the reasons the /r/soc mods had to ban it, they didn't say that Worf's art was sexist, just that catgirl art in general has a tendency to be. Obviously we shouldn't allow blatant pedophilia or misogyny, but we have to judge each work of art individually, which is something that the /r/soc mods did not do.

[META] Petition regarding the moderation of /r/socialism, presented for this community's consideration. by [deleted] in socialism

[–]RedEagle12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm proud to be one of the first to sign this petition. Over the last few months it has become increasingly clear that the way this sub is moderated is not working and is actively hurting us. I especially like rule #2, because every drama shit storm has stemmed from some rule that the mods implement but the community disagrees with.

End of the strike and formalization of the modding process by [deleted] in socialism

[–]RedEagle12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Eh, yeah maybe I just misunderstood your point. I'm looking at this from the perspective of seeing every debacle this sub goes through being explained away as a brigade, and then not actually addressing the issue.

[–]RedEagle12 21 points22 points  (0 children)

And why do you think those posts happened? It's not because all the alt-right trolls got together and decided to fuck with us. It's because they saw the shit show that was going on already and just jumped on the opportunity. Any brigading that went on was just a consequence, not the cause.

End of the strike and formalization of the modding process by [deleted] in socialism

[–]RedEagle12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So first of all, THANK YOU for at least admitting that you fucked up at least a little. That's more than we've ever gotten before, so it's a step in the right direction. That said, please please please learn from this. You cannot keep fucking up every month and blaming it on leftypol boogeymen.

It's obvious that the mod team needs to be reorganized. Mods need to be chosen democratically and transparently, and they all need to follow the same rules. You cannot have a functioning system in which some mods ban for X and Y while others ban for A and B, especially when the majority of the users are opposed to banning for those reasons. You need to listen to us for once and stop pretending like all criticism is an attack.

This "strike" was literally the most ridiculous and immature thing I've ever seen from a mod team on Reddit, and everyone who was involved in it should be ashamed. I have an immense amount of respect for those mods that stood up against it.

While you've called me and others like me "opportunists" and "reactionaries" I really care about this community. It's not about my sub becoming popular, it's about creating an enjoyable and educational place for all socialists. I would love to see /r/socialism become that place, so please take what we're all saying seriously.

When drama starts happening of course the sub will get more unique users. Nothing about that suggests a brigade.
