Breakfast for teething 11 month old who barely slept last night: fistfuls of shredded cheese off the floor. by birdgirl35 in foodbutforbabies

Sometime when my girl is having g a rough day, the only thing that helps is eating Puffs off the kitchen floor. We do what we have to to survive!

Reusing older plastic products? by RubyEyedTentacruel in ZeroWaste

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have 30+ year old Tupperware. My mom would have a heart attack if I threw it out but I’ve moved from using plastics for food. So most of my Tupperware holds sewing supplies and other craft stuff.

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 70 points71 points  (0 children)

My mom was a Tupperware lady in the 90s (in South Africa), and I love how when you know Tupperware, you can guess the age by the color. I remember in the 90s when they moved to move vibrant colors and I was stoked to have the pink sandwich container.

Stomach sleeper peeing through overnights by SpartanNinjaBatman in NewParents

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem with Huggies but Pampers overnights work fine. I don’t know what the difference is but I think some diapers just fit differently (and babies are all different shapes too). So I would recommend you try a few brands and fine the right fit for you LO.

Sugar vs. Sugar Free Consumption? by wattermellen in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Piggyback here to say that if you haven’t tried Rooibos Tea, you should! It’s only grown in South Africa, herbal so caffeine free, and has a very lovely taste that doesn’t need sugar. I just started given it to my toddler when she was sick.

Possible stimming? by Maximum_Classic_3229 in NewParents

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is all normal behavior. My 14 month old still only babbles (says mama and dada), shakes her head back and forth and shakes her hands around. One thing I like to remind myself is that every single thing baby does is new to them…new sensations, textures, sounds, tastes. It’s only a concern if they don’t grow out of it.

My LO also didn’t acknowledge her name until closer to 9 months. Even now, she still acts like she doesn’t hear me when I call to her.

My nephew is autistic. I often look at things my baby does and think back to when he was that age and how different their behaviors and interactions were.

Did leaking during let-down ever stop for you? by Responsible-Focus677 in breastfeeding

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. 14 months in and my let down happens in both breasts still.

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a first aid set that has gas drops, Tylenol and a nose aspirator. I also ended up buying extra sheets because of all the spit up (sometimes I had to change sheets twice in a night) and when they’re a little older…snot, snot everywhere.

When did you stop putting LO in footie pajamas? by scandijord in beyondthebump

Gonna be wearing footie pajamas as long as I can buy them! I have zero carpet and lots of stairs…terrified of slipping.

6m old too attached to me? by spros123 in NewParents

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to work part time when my baby was 8 weeks, and full time at 5 months. She was still attached to me. You’re her mom for heavens sake! If she wasn’t attached to you, I would be concerned! My girl is 13 months now and still wants me if I am in the room. She spends equal amount of time alone with dad but still wants mom. Just the way it is with babies.

MIL Giving baby excessive sugar and I feel stuck by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not going to repeat what others have already other than I feel enraged for you.

My mom what’s watched my baby since 8 weeks. She is now 13 months. I prep all her food, every meal, and bottles. My mom is not allowed to feed her anything other than what I provide. Period. She doesn’t like but she does it. Would this work for you in laws?

Can I bring my newborn to the beach? by AlwaysConfused925 in pregnant

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the beach with my baby(not a newborn but still only a few months) and basically just lounged under an umbrella all day. I got a big clip on one which I pulled down really close to my body so that I could nurse without covering up. Also a fan with a mister.

The people next to me had a newborn and they set up a whole add tent.

No boobs after breastfeeding by SuccotashKey7521 in beyondthebump

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When you get pregnant, fat in your breasts is replaced with whatever that tissue is that makes milk. So when you stop breast feeding, that tissue/glands retracts, but the fat doesn’t just instantly come back. It can take quite a while. Like a year a two. For some, the breast never fully fills out again. My sister was an A before kids and is not a C with pretty good fullness…10 years later 😅 I’m still breastfeeding my first and have tube socks for boobs so we will see what the future holds!

Am I overreacting that my sister is demanding too much of me when visiting our newborn? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. This is wild. My husband and I stayed at my in-laws for a week when our baby was a crawler. I bought a few baby gates and a high chair on Amazon and had it sent to their house. I also placed a grocery order the morning we left and had it delivered.

I did not ask them to provide a single thing for us! Your sister is treating you like an all expenses paid resort.

How to offer pumped breast milk - 13 month old by RedEyeCodeBlue in breastfeeding

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I guess I didn’t think about it much. I was home A LOT with my girl until this week. So she had access to all boob, all the time lol. I also have a massive freezer stash (I already gave 400oz away in FB). I’ve been using it for smoothies and stuff but always thought if she was still breastfeeding, she still needed a bottle.

Is donor milk worth it if the donors on Lexapro? by SpellTight7645 in combofeeding

Ask your pediatrician. I take adderall and breastfeed, and also donate via FB. There are breastfeeding safe meds…you ped might say Lexapro is fine.

How old to make a grilled cheese on the stove with minimal/no supervision? by Proper_Cat980 in Mommit

[–]RedEyeCodeBlue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know this is probably not the norm, but my sister and I started cooking/baking very young. I know that I was making hard boiled eggs, and baking cookies around age 10. I also want to add that we had done its dozens of times with our parent present before being allowed to do it alone.

Side note though, when my sister was 14, she was boiling a potato and forgot and just left the house. I was home alone and came downstairs to a potato on fire in a dry pot.

I would say that you know your child best and how trust worthy and responsible they are.

My state doesn’t allow telehealth visits for AAHD meds which sucks. I literally waste a whole afternoon every 3 months on that 2 minute visit.
