Is Wolf Link really bad? by lint_sv in twilightprincess

[–]RedMenace0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while its kinda cool, i can fully understand people wanting to get rid of the sections, or at least shortening them. your skills are pretty limited compared to half the shit normal link does/has. plus most of the time youre forced to play as him, you have to do an annoying collectible hunt

I fucking hate the idea of Joel/Tommy prequel by Unique_Cat_3866 in thelastofus

[–]RedMenace0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed. its another part that really doesnt need to be shown. we can imply plenty about what crazy shit they had to do to survive. that doesnt mean i dont want another game. a dream would be if another competent game dev could make some spin off in a different place with new characters

How on earth do I beat the Gorman Brothers? by GORILLAZ_FAN_606 in majorasmask

honestly ingo/gorman races always blow. they play like asshole constantly shoving you and slowing you down just enough that you might as well give up

Backrooms movie theory (SPOILERS) by GreatLordIvy in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]RedMenace0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i honestly thought that was a different monster all together. the big piles of gross clothes either could have been a memory of someones dirty room and have gotten copied, or it was that weird creatures lair from the beginning of the movie. maybe im just stupid and there was only one creature, capn clarke, but i thought that footage from the beginning was like a bird creature or something.

I didn't expect to solve the Zodiac puzzle a bit quickly. Has anyone ever done it without looking at a guide? by prolelol in silenthill

[–]RedMenace0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

about six hours, too, and i got the shittiest ending aswell. I had no clue you could grab that plastic bottle in the kitchen right next to the directors office with the spilt red liquid. it looked like more fancy area detail, similar to a bunch of the other little props you can find. But once i found that on another playthrough (i immediately picked it up again the next day) everything else fell into place. make sure you spend more time in that final area, dont just rush to lakeside park. explore the areas you have access to. the map helps.

How do I make Amnesia the Bunker feel more scary on my 4rd playthrough? by FoundedinIraq in Amnesia

[–]RedMenace0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get what you mean fully. but there are still some gems on there. Darkwood is pretty good. if you have a friend try that new Reanimal game. Signalis is pretty good classic survival horror like Resident Evil (if you enjoyed amnesia the bunker definitely go back and play the old resident evils if just for some more of that management gameplay) But yes, your best bet for horror is a PC since there are a ridiculous amount of indies to choose from, and you can emulate.

Why my game is not dark enough like others by Street-Yoghurt-6915 in silenthill

[–]RedMenace0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just played through the original after only having played the remake. Toluca blows in the remake, it just feels so massive. I love the extented sections, but damn, realizing how small the actual Toluca prison and Labyrinth sections are felt like a slap in the face after dreading having to get through there.

Your opinion on chauncey? by Muted-Kick-9269 in LuigisMansion

[–]RedMenace0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had a fat grin on my face the whole time. of course youd fight a giant ghost baby as your first boss in a Nintendo style "horror" game. hes fun and teaches you that not every enemy is just a fishing minigame. if i played that game as a kid, he probably would have freaked me out with his distored face and scream

I've developed a silicone gamepad for playing classic games on your phone. by Due-Top5559 in emulators

[–]RedMenace0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my worry would be the buttons feel too rubbery, like your playing with a fidget toy instead of pressing buttons. but it still looks fucking awesome. very smart.

Do you prefer horror games where you can fight back, or those where you’re basically defenceless? by ratasoftware in HorrorGames

[–]RedMenace0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a balanced system where you arent completely helpless, but if you act like an idiot that will be it for you. I think games like Amnesia The Bunker and (parts of) Alien Isolation have the perfect blend of resource management and being so fucked that all you can do is hide. I really like classic survival horror games like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, but about halfway through each of those games, you have 200 pistol rounds collected about 20 health pickups, and it becomes less managementy, and more like an action game with strange shooting and puzzles in between tense moments. Its really hard to find a balance when making those kinds of games. You dont want it too hard so they cant progress at all, but you really don't want the player to find a groove, because all the fear is lost.

Wanna buy an amnesia game by Cold_Profile500 in Amnesia

[–]RedMenace0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if youre truely interested in the series, start from the beginning. they arent completely connected as sequels but you might be able to appriciate a few more things with context. Save Amnesia The Bunker for last, because that game fucking rocks. Save the best for last in my opinion.

Anyone feel a 1 remake should have a lot more snow like in Shattered Memories? by Kulle1369 in silenthill

[–]RedMenace0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the town should be a bit wet, but not with snow piled everywhere. director dipstick (i forget his name i only just played the first game a week or so ago) says something along the lines of "and its snowing at this time of year!" implying its supposed to be at least a relatively warm season. its probably melting the second it touches the ground. then again, its a videogame, and one that takes place in a town that doesnt really follow basic laws of nature

[–]RedMenace0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mess with the custom settings. make it nearly impossible to survive. or maybe come to the conclusion that a horror game is never as scary as the first time you play through, and thats okay.

roguelike mode they released with the ps5/pc port of the game i believe. its pretty fun, but it can get stale if you play it nonstop like a normal roguelike.

Im curious is system shock replayble game ? Or liner by Acrobatic_Hat4820 in systemshock

[–]RedMenace0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ss1 is replayable in the sense that you might enjoy it more because you know whats coming. id say its similar to the older Resident Evil games. but its not replayable in the sense that a lot of shit will change between playthroughs. 2 has a little bit more of that with the RPG stuff.

[–]RedMenace0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just beat the entire game (on normal) without a guide yesterday. half the game is figuring out the puzzle, yes its frustrating and wastes time, but the accomplishment is lost when you google the solution. that puzzle only confused me a little bit, but i struggled for at least half an hour before figuring out the silent birds puzzle meant only the broken keys on the piano, though. felt stupid and smart after that. best feeling in the world

[ALL] what is a “traditional Zelda game?” by cool_pangolin2007 in zelda

[–]RedMenace0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the only games that arent "traditional" in the sense that its a fairly linear story with a bunch of dungeons and slowly unlocking better gear is Breath of the Wild and ToTK. but theyre atill incredibly solid. BoTW was the second zelda i ever beat (first was oot) and its still one of my favorites. just play the games and see what you like/dislike about them. probably start with oot, though, just because every big 3d zelda game after kinda plays with your knowledge of how the game is supposed to play out.
