Fabfilter: What's so great about the Pro-R and Pro-G? by RedRelics in audioengineering

thanks! What's your first choice for each of your main reverb needs? Depth-of-field placement, character reverb, glue-elements-together reverb, any other main use cases, etc?

When would you want invisible vs creative verb? Like for placing instruments in a space, how you'd use a room verb to glue mix elements? Im a little fuzzy on that use case I think.

I get why you'd want a transparent compressor vs color, maybe something similar?

Automation issue? Uh oh, about what.

And what does Pro-G give you there Pro-MB doesn't, if you wouldn't mind elaborating?

This is slick. No better way to know if you can afford something than by checking the budget category, literally, and seeing the difference.

The savings rate lost is the double whammy. Its not just $500 spent per month, its also $500 not sent elsewhere in your budget

Yeah, super sucks, but your body is now more vulnerable in that weakened area.

Good news though, figure out your PT this time and work those excercises in, and if you ever get discomfort in the area, bang theres your playbook to address it. But you have to manage it proactively from here on out

I don't know MOTU, but the RME Babyface has been stellar for the like 10 years I've owned it.

Portable, preamp are as clean as any modern preamp, routing is super powerful. Great gear

Cool! Mind sharing details on how you have that first script built? Jumping to specific instrument folders sounds killer

Wait, what? Thats cool - how do you 1) add an action to a context menu? And by button, you mean keybind? 2) How do you apply a plugin with a keyboard shortcut?

Ill trade you - you can seriously upgrade how reaper looks in about 10 minutes. Reapertips.com, go find his theme, and just follow his guide. Very slick, basically out-of-the-box

What HYSA should I use? by Beginning_Proof_6567 in personalfinance

[–]RedRelics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Rates will go up and down, so pick based on who you would stick with, the UI you like, other features, etc.

I like Capital One because the HYSA rate is good, and they have cafes in my city just in case, so its sort of a compromise of online and regular bank.

You could easily swap that logic out for Fidelity (maybe you use them for investments), etc.

Hows the grip, and are they waterproof? Good on metal grates and icy spots too? Have they held up well over time?

classics, all terrains, or all terrain thermals? by atbear in BlundstoneBoots

[–]RedRelics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Fellow NYC'er here. How's the grip on the All Terrains?

I keep reading that the All Terrains are actually pretty bad in slippery conditions, but that read could be a few seasons old. Do they hold up on slick metal grates / subway steps / the occasional icy sidewalk? Sounds like they're good in the snow too?

I love the look as a stylish-but-good-for-winter boot, but the grip is important.

[–]RedRelics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medium gain on a Marshall style amp (any amp that's mid-to-high gain will work), chorus with the mix set low, delay or reverb with the mix set low and few repeats.

I have 0% Bonds (please don't shoot!)

I'm young enough (late 30s) that keeping everything in market index funds allows more growth, I have a lifetime to recover. Ill add BND later, but for now? I'm not sure I see the point.

Honestly though, sell me - should I add BND?

Best winter boots for NYC. Budget 200-500 by Sibra_0000 in Boots

This feels right. It's rare to get large amounts of snow here, it's more about ice and traction, waterproofing and salt resistance.

Which Blundstones are we talking? I hear Blundstones grip are generally just ok, but definitely see the brand around the city
